Usually I like this location, but I was totally disgusted by bakery today. I like the Nature's Promise artisan breads and wanted a loaf of sourdough, and there were none sliced already. So, I used the papers/plastic things, and I got a loaf to hand the attendant. His attitude was like I irritated him when I interrupted his workflow. Then, without changing his gloves, he took my bread and set it on the slicer. Then he went and handled a dirty tub, and he walked back to the slicer and grabbed the bread with the same dirty gloves. He handed me the bread when he was done. I thanked him with a smile and as soon as he turned around I tossed it back on the counter. Gross behavior. I hope he gets some extra training, and I hope that bread wasn't put out on the shelf for someone else, but I bet it was. The bakery itself seemed mostly clean and organized, except for the artisan bread section, where loaves were spread out to fill space, so rye and whole grain filled the wheat sourdough space. read more

Great location with lots of variety and good deals. Especially convenient to have gas, pharmacy, and giant direct pickup options.

I love this store first and foremost. I live down the street a d am always coming here for last minute items from the wife. They keep a clean store and it's a pretty fast checkout. I have a 2.5yr old and he loves roaming the isles with me and that gives him plenty of exercise. I appreciate y'all. Cheers read more

Staff your customer service desk. D. All of the above. The lack of customer service when you have someone using the money transfer system is just ridiculous. The minute you get a Western Union customer, someone else should be called to the customer service desk to work with the other customers. If there are no other customer service people then a manager should be covering the customer service desk. I cannot tell you how many times I've gone to customer service at this giant and there is always a line and never anybody else to help with the customers. Now if you would call it "the wait in line until we get to you desk" then I would understand it. But when you call something customer service you attend to your customers. read more

I prefer this of all the Giant Food Stores in the York Area. My wife and I recently relocated from York City to Manchester, but still stop in this location since they have more organic products and wider variety of produce items. The store has a bulk food aisle which is nice for nuts and snacks at slightly lower price than pre-packed. This Giant is slightly larger than others but seems to be less crowded as a result. The store has a nice caffe as you enter called Savor with free wi-fi in the seating area. I was able to get a lot of bonus buy items and enjoy the selection of gourmet cheese. We picked up some new Ben & Jerry's flavors for a dollar off which they didn't have at our local grocery. There are few drawbacks to shopping at this Giant, the only one I can think of would be the parking is shared with Panera, TJ Maxx and Wendy's so congestion when exiting can occur. I recommend shopping at Giant - the bakery, produce, meat and dairy items are always well-stocked and fresh. read more

i love this place! also known as POSH giant! it's a really nice big grocery store, with two full aisles dedicated to healthy (organic/whole) food products, including Soy based laundry detergent, organic cleaning products, etc... even milks, yogurts, cereals, hair car products! it reminds me of my favorite Whole Foods grocery store. (the first time i saw these aisles, I just stood in awe!) This place also has a full bakery, and is open 24 hrs... they have the best sugar cookies that are like muffin top cookies! so soft and cake like! Mmm! and they often have whoopie pies! anyway, I cant say enough good things about this place! hands down my favorite place to buy groceries! :o) read more

I have something to say and it's not pleasant...not at all. This Giant has bed bugs in the café. ****GASP**** I was using the free Wi-Fi and within 20 minutes I had 3 bed bugs on my left arm and they were in three stages. This is NOT a joke and I feel like a heel to have to pass it on because it's my go to store for odd items. For those of you reading this who are not in the know York and ALL urban areas are suffering from an insurgence of bed bugs. My son's school sent literature home and it just touched the tip of the iceberg with how insidious these little bastards are....educate yourself so you at least know how to identify them when you see them. I did report the problem to the manager on duty AND produced a sample I plucked off my arm while I was in the customer service area waiting. Needless to say....I am totally freaked out by it. read more

More times than not lately, I'm finding their "fresh" produce not so fresh...as in molded and/or smelling like mildew. After buying bananas (years ago) from another grocery chain and discovering they not only tasted like mildew but also smelled of mildew, I smell everything I want to buy in the produce area. I love giant, this store is no exception. The layout is more than a little confusing (minus one star). I feel like I need to be an expert at orienteering just to get some groceries. Other than that, the store is great. It is huge and filled with so many items... old favorites, new items never before seen - very cool! Lines can be long and yes they charge for BBQ sauce while ketchup is free (condimentist!) but the hot bar and other items made fresh make this place worth the trip! I wish I lived closer so I am able to go more often. read more

Clean grocery store. Decent organic and produce section. When it comes down to driving a little out of my way to get to a nice clean store, this Giant is worth the extra 5 minute trip vs. other grocery stores in the area. read more

Not my first bad review of the Dover store. Tonight, tried to buy a 12 pack of beer. Last week, I discovered my license was expired. So, went to the local license processing place and they gave me a temporary license until my photo card came so I could process that. Did this when trying to transfer a fire arm. So... when trying to buy beer tonight, the annoying cashier at the beer garden said he couldn't sell it to me because my photo ID was expired. Gave him my temp license. He called GM Jody. Nope, can't do it. So, I can buy a fire arm with a temp drivers license but not beer? Pickers for call in orders nearly run you over while picking their orders, stock depleted, meats and produce rot days after bringing it home, self check out always tags items calling for customer service, women behind customer service are rude....just a horribly run, joke of a store. Tip. For meats go to Wags meat market, for everything else, the money spent in gas will be offset to cost of groceries if you run to Wegmans. Besides being a florescent bulb shining madhouse of crowded grocery store insanity all of the time, the freshness of the food is questionable. Several frozen seafood packages had expiration/sell by dates that were almost 2 months past. Purchased several packages of rice here before to only find bugs in the rice. Expired milk and yogurt can be found here as well as old rotten produce with low turn over rate. Bakery and the health food section is the only great feature. I still shop here, but I definitely check the dates and packaging of everything. read more

The pharmacy use to be utterly amazing quick service.. But now they get a 2 star rating because the service was horrible. I was told the wait for my prescriptions was going to be a 15 minute wait but no it's more like an hour. If I wasn't as sick as a dog I wouldn't be still waiting for them. The young girl is a moron she has no clue how to do her job.. When the girl keeps huffing and puffing she must really HATE HER JOB and it definitely shows.. If can avoid if possible. They need to bring back the old pharmacist Bc he has no personality.. read more

This store has everything our family needs yet continues to become harder and harder to shop at. Every aisle is hard to get down due to the displays everywhere. Even the aisle end caps are blocked so only one cart can enter and exit the aisle at at time. Your stuck if someone stops to look at an item or talk. Currently looking elsewhere to shop. read more

It's a really nice store. I love that there's a big section dedicated to organic/whole food products. I also love their produce section, there's a lot of variety to choose from. They have a great salad bar and I also love their seafood counter. The people that work at that area are very friendly, and quite helpful. I also love that they have a great Asian cuisine section where I can actually get the rice noodles I need to cook with. My husband and I also make it a point to stop at their cafe on our way in or out. The cafe has great coffee (better than Starbucks in my opinion) without the extravagant prices. The girls that work in the cafe are really nice and quite helpful. It's definitely our favorite store in the area! read more

Deli is painfully slow more times than not. Today was a noteable experience, as when I got to the counter I took a number, 99 and they were on 93. I was one of three people waiting to be helped by the 5 workers who were "working." One of the other customers waiting commented that she'd been waiting for a while to one of the employees named Louise. Louise proceeded to yell at the customer screaming, "YOURE RUDE!" Raising her voice. The customer the said that she was going to complain to a manager, and how there's many employees working however only one customer being helped and Louise replied that "YOU DONT KNOW WHAT WERE DOING!!" Finally the customer gave up and walked away. I was so appalled by this experience that I had to write a review, and I was just observing. Try to avoid the deli if possible, and if not hope Louise isn't the one to help you--- but by the sound of it, she has zero desire to help anyone and shouldn't be in customer service. read more

great selection of produce, organics (best of all the giants in york), deli, meats, cheeses, seafood, etc. store was recently remodeled and it shows. only drawback is that you will experience crowds of people - not only in the aisles but also at checkout. i was amazed at the number of people leisurely going up and down the aisles, analyzing each purchase and being oblivious to anyone else trying to get around them. on a saturday afternoon around 2pm almost all registers were open but there were 3-4 customers in each line. which meant i waited about 15 minutes to put my stuff on the belt. you may want to go at an off time! read more

This is the only grocery store where I consistently shop in York. I am from Towson, and I am used to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Wegman's, etc. I like to eat organic, natural foods. I eat vegetarian or vegan most of the time. This Giant has the best selection of **reasonably priced** natural foods in the area. They have two full aisles of natural foods in addition to great selections throughout the store. Nowhere else in York have I been able to find a store that fits my grocery needs this well. Sure, there are a few other natural foods stores, but they carry products priced almost twice as much as this Giant. Mostly, the service here is excellent as well; the staff is friendly and helpful. read more
