This was a quick stop for me. Honestly if this wasn't between the stops almost perfectly, I would have bypassed and found another Giant Eagle location. I came here to pick up a gift card and I thought it would have been a quick stop. It was anything but that. This sits in a small plaza in a college town. Honestly, for a college kid this plaza could be a one stop shop. Sharing the plaza is a liquor store and Dollar Tree. It would definitely complete all your shopping needs. I went in and found the gift card section and did as quick scan of the cards. I found the one I came here for and made sure that it wasn't tampered with. With selection in hand, I make my way to the register area. With this being a smaller store there weren't many registers to begin with. However, they did have each register open, but they weren't flowing as fast as you would hope. I honestly had the one item, the gift card, and every register was backed up. Didn't matter if you wanted to try the express lane because that one was just as backed up. Do yourself a favor here, get your receipt emailed to you. It's one less thing to have to fumble with. I was just beginning my physical recovery as my training for the upcoming Battle of the Pelennor Fields had concluded. When I entered the store, my inner peace was alive and well. However, I felt most of it pass away as the cashier's death stare penetrated my soul. Even the organic monkey treats trapped between my fingers started to spoil. After not being greeted, I whipped out my credit card -- only to Discover that the card company was "down" in Giant Eagle's system. I had to source a paper bill out of my leather dollar diaper. Now, my account says the payment processed, so I paid for my food twice. What an utter disgrace. The ambiance of this place isn't at all shabby, but the lack of liveliness of the employees makes me feel so dead inside. I'll return, but only when I find my precious onion rings. read more

This store owner knows they are the only grocery store around and they jack up their prices. The college kids get taken advantage of the most. There's no student discount. I have to shop here during camp season and pay sometimes twice as much for items. Would love to see a Walmart or Aldi come to Slippery Rock and even the scales. read more

Was in town and needed groceries. For me, its nice going to giant eagle and have the same experience. (I did have to wear a mask) but everything else was the same. Got my produce, milk, eggs, icecream, chips, peanut butter etc like I've always had. Prices are a bit higher but staff do their job. I worked their in school. And see the staff working like i did. So for me i appreciate being able to get my groceries and check out like normal. They have some self check outs too. Which i do like to use. But only when i have 12 items or less etc. Easy choice to great groceries and get out quick enough that i dont feel the need to eat a bag of chips while waiting in line. read more

I had to give 1 star - because you cannot choose less - yep that is how bad this store is. In the last few years it has taken a U turn to the worst. Management is a total disgrace. They have small aisles that are now crammed full of crap, stuff in a shopping cart, stuff in cardboard advertising. When you can barely get down an aisle - and it is all one way aisles now - it is tough. MANAGEMENT - get your heads out of youknowwhere! get that crap out of the aisles! You had milk from a local dairy, marburgers, then switched to the grossest milk ever, Schneider's. there literally is something wrong with that milk. The manager i talked to said he could do what he wants, your right, but your also an arrogant non people person. Besides the act that us adults (non-college kids) are the one spending money in there and you are catering to the college kids. I literally was spending hundreds of dollars a week there. I would buy $2000 a month in the visa $200 cards. NO MORE. I have been shopping local - i have shopped there for over 14 years, NO MORE. You people in management are horrible. The Giant Eagle brand of Cheese and some of the meats are the Eddy's brand you used to sell - except it is $4 more a pound. And today was the absolute end for me, i will not shop there again. I stopped at the deli, i was told i could only buy what was already sliced. Why you ask? Because the slicer was clean, the other slicer was broke down and being cleaned. What a crock of crap! So because you are too lazy to do your job, i should have to come back? Oh i was told that they close down in 15 minutes. I will do my shopping in Giant Eagle in Cranberry or Butler. I know you have nothing to do with those to Giant Eagles, they run like well oiled machines read more

I have gone to this pharmacy for twenty-two years. I switched because the my previous pharmacy employed a pharmacist who spoke loudly and persistently about how "stupid" his customers were; he did not have the decency to speak with his problem patients face-to-face; he was a coward and unprofessional. My experience at the Giant Eagle pharmacy in Slippery Rock has been absolutely the opposite: their pharmacists are the finest I've dealt with, their technicians are 100% more professional than their peers at other pharmacies in the region. In literally hundreds of instances these past two decades, technicians and pharmacists have taken time to explain medications, answer any questions I have, and have always acted in my best interests. read more

Shopping here is the worst. The employees are never around to help and when you finally do find someone they are very rude. I managed to shop the entire store one day without a greeting from a single employee-not even the cashier at checkout! The produce has drastically gone downhill. The watermelon, strawberries, and blueberries I just bought here were all terrible and had to be thrown away. Very limited selection of organic and natural products. Their "wild caught" fish is all from China and Russia. Gross! No makeup and limited beauty products and vitamins. Only use plastic bags. When you ask them to use reusable bags or paper bags they give you a "I'm going to kill you look." Get with the 21st Century, Giant Eagle. Do you care at all about our planet? Forget about returns. They never honor their policy of "double your money back". Hire some decent people who are friendly. read more

This Giant Eagle management team is a total disgrace. The training of their employees are a disgrace. They hired a worker and his friend and put them on the schedule right away with little training then the one worker was fired cause he didn't stick the beer the way they wanted him to and he never received any written warnings. He still works at another larger Giant Eagle in the same dept with the beer and receives alot of praises. The other coworker was fired cause according to their policy you can't have a cellphone or Apple watches while working but other workers still had access to theirs. They were wrongfully terminated and I am pretty sure race played an issue but I am not the one to blow that out of proportion right now. From my knowledge there will be a lawyer getting involved real soon so if you shop at this store or planning to shop at this store BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! read more

When I come here about 80% of the time there is a problem getting my medications. They've told me that they have no prescriptions ready for me and I had to insist that they were already called in. Once I ran out of a maintenance medication (something I need to live) around Christmas and the young woman argued with me, told me it was not a maintenance medication "like something for high cholesterol" and said there was nothing she could do for me. I always leave here feeling like they are incompetent. read more

This store has gone down hill from where it use to be years ago. I was back in the area with some friends at school, and decided to stop in for a few items for lunch. The employees are mostly friendly, but management is another story. Not sure if they're stressed or what but most were not pleasant to deal with during an interaction at the service desk. Prices are also not a great as I remembered, hot foods seemed to have gone up. read more

Staying in town for 2 weeks on business and I heard this place had a salad bar. It does. It's ok. After grabbing my salad, I grabbed some grapes, a small loaf of bread from the bakery, and some butter. At the check out line, I was asked if I had a Giant Eagle card and I politely told the cashier that I was from out of town and did not have one. A kind gentlemen behind me then said that I could use his card if I would like and the cashier loudly snapped back, "NO! We don't do that here! There's no sharing of cards!" I was mortified. Everyone in the store was staring in our direction. I don't know what's so special about those cards, but I've never been to a store where they at least wouldn't scan the generic store card for you. With that being said, my salad, grapes, bread, and butter totaled $18.00. Not only is this place expensive, they are rude and don't care whether they publicly embarrass you. Produce is poor, expensive and sometimes rotten. All to often they are out items advertised on sale. Overall prices are too high, shelves are stocked for college kids. The bakery and deli are very good as are the cashiers. Management seems clueless. read more

Usually has what you're looking for. Produce can be dirty. Restrooms have been downright filthy every time I've used them. I'd give three stars but the restrooms are exceptionally poor. read more
