I shop here out of convenience. I will no longer shop here. Yesterday was the final day due to the lack of open cashier lines. Management was standing around talking to a customer about personal stuff while there was ONE line open with 8 people in line and 2 self check out lines open with 7 or 8 customers in each of them. By the time I got to the cashier, my frozen food was thawed out. The produce, especially the fruit is terrible quality. Many of the outdoor plants have no prices. The last few times that I purchased baked goods, they were dry and tasteless. From this day forward I will drive to a different store. This is specifically the Giant Eagle in Berea OH. read more

Not the best Giant Eagle in existence, but I go here for onesie twosie kinda trips. Not a bad selection either for its size. The Southland location has a bigger selection, but there are also way more people. If you need an in and out experience, this place should be your go to. I will never shop at this Giant Eagle again after their cashier named Dawn basically accused me of lying or attempting to steal $1.00. I was going to buy a watermelon which I selected from one of two $4.99 display bins. They also had a bin with $5.99 watermelons and they all looked alike to me. All three bins were attached together with dividers separating the watermelons. When I was checking out, Dawn asked to roll the melon over in the shopping cart to see the label which it had none. When I assured her again that the melon was from the $4.99 bin she became very abusive and loud with me. The customer behind me even told her that she would pay the $5.00 for it. Dawn called the manager over, and to my disbelief, he agreed with her at which time I told him that they can keep it. In addition, I had a plastic bag from the produce department which contained dandelion greens. As she fingered through the bag looking for the label, there was a small piece of what appeared to be kale stuck to the greens. She actually removed it with her fingers and rang it up separately for 5 cents. I have never been so humiliated in a grocery store as I was today between these two employees. What a disgrace to "customer service" they provided in this store. When I returned home, I contacted Giant Eagle's main office and was compensated $7.00 on my loyalty card for the purchase of another watermelon which was above and beyond of what I had hoped for. Ordered 148 pieces of chicken, full pan of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, Caesar Salad, Regular salad for a big birthday bash. We went to pick up chicken at 5:10 pm and the employee told us, you said you were picking it up at 5:30 pm. We fry it so that it's ready at that time. Was I upset? No way!!! It really sucks that this Giant Eagle is the closest one to us. We don't shop here often, but sometimes it's just convenient. We were in there today shopping for some odds and ends, and decided to get a couple of pieces of the fried chicken for dinner. We stood there for at least five minutes, and no one came out, though there was an employee with spiky blondish hair standing nearby talking on her cell phone. When she got finished talking, my boyfriend asked her if there was anyone working the counter, and she said that they were probably in the back "doing other things", with a tone like it was certainly something more important than taking care of customers. My boyfriend said "So, no service?". She went in the back and came back out, saying that the guy was working with chicken and "couldn't leave raw meat laying out" to come take care of us, but he would as soon as he was done. Are you kidding me? We left, and they lost a sale. We also went over to the deli department to hopefully get something for lunches, and there was no one there, either. Unbelievable. Poor selection of meat and seafood. Also the giant eagle ad starts on Thursday I go to buy seafood that's on sale early Thursday morning they are out. They lie probably never had what is on sale. Most everyone who works there is crabby not very helpful. Somewhere along the line, businesses' in the US have stopped training their new employees to be helpful, especially if the new employees need to go out of their way to do so. This Giant Eagle should get the prize for the most # of times that employees fell back on the "not my job" attitude. I could go on and on about the ridiculous lack of any sort of customer service, but let's sum it up by saying that any employee who tells a customer that "you'll need to come back tomorrow to get your issue handled" or "I don't know" without any sort of follow-up action should just be fired on the spot. Yes kids, sometimes it is necessary to GET OFF YOUR BUTT and make a tiny little bit of extra effort. I come here often. It really isn't so bad. They stay stocked in almost everything. A few times I have come across bitter cashiers that cause me issues because they are having a bad day and that stinks, but I wouldn't say all the employees are that way. Some are very nice and helpful. The seafood section is lacking in my opinion. The Strongsville store has a welcoming seafood section that is neat and clean, this stores seems dainty and not as nice. This is only in regards to their pharmacy in Berea, OH. I've used this specific pharmacy for over a decade. It's staff is professional, knowledgeable and courteous, unlike some others, who've behaved as if they have been forced to attend summer school. The average waiting time, for a NEW, in-store, available prescription pick-up, is within 30 minutes (sometimes within 15 minutes if it's urgent). If you've called in a refill, it'll be ready for pick-up within 1 day (or less, depending upon it's availability/urgency). With your consent, they'll also contact your doctor, if a NEW prescription is due. They'll also give you the option to get a text, when your prescription needs to be refilled, or when it's ready for pickup (which includes the cost). Plus, you can ring up to 5 grocery items at their counter, which save you time and avoidance of a plethora of ridiculous people. I'll continue to use their services for all of my prescriptions, which lately seem to be growing like weeds! read more

The store is very frustrating. I keep trying to give them another chance and I get burned everytime. The meat counter- the person working is always on break. My last 5 visits the sign is always up on break. I have waited 15 to 20 minutes and still on break. Time to make thr extra 15 minute drive for Strongsville Market District. read more

I absolutely love going to their pharmacy for all my vaccine and medical needs. Everyone is polite, and efficient and cares a lot about their customers. The store is close to where I live and is kept spotless with a good variety of items. Having the pharmacy there is a big plus. read more

Poor selection and high prices means we only come here for occasional items. What is the worst, though is the bakery. That crappy Bettercream that they pass off as buttercream frosting on their cakes will make you puke. The stuff comes in a 5 gallon bucket in chocolate or white. It is scooped out of the bucket and whipped to make it fluffy. It is ALL chemicals and oils. There is no butter or cream or anything resembling real food in their "buttercream" icing. AVOID. It also needs to be said, this Giant Eagle is a poor neighbor in Berea. Situated next to the Metroparks, the entrance to the park next to their store is constantly littered with bags, bottles, cans and wrappers. They should be better stewards of the location they have been given. It is shameful, appalling and embarrassing how they neglect the adjacent park to which their parking lot abuts! The people who work here are friendly and attentive. Lines usually move quickly, but then I'm usually using the 10 items or less line, and the butcher in the meat department rocks! You can get anything you need, cut, trimmed and dressed the way you want it and never be treated like a nuisance for asking. read more

Giant Eagle, why do you suck in my neighborhood? There are never enough cashiers and the ones you do have move at the lightning fast speed of molasses! Last week it took me 10 minutes to purchase a bottle of orange juice. OY! The people who work here are mostly friendly (I cannot fault you for that..thank you for having nice employees), I just find you lack overall greatness. And sometimes, honestly, I just want you to check me out not have a crazy long and involved conversation with every person in your line. The produce selection here is ok, but overpriced. Honestly I'm surprised how this place hasn't been shut down I bought salmon, and scallops from the so called "fresh section" the fish stays out there for weeks of not more, as soon as I smelled the fish it smelled way to fishy almost threw up, and I've cooked with salmon a lot, it's not supposed to smell that bad and same for the scallops. I threw that crap away in the trash. Loss of 50$ but oh well never shopping here agian. Only reason I went is brave I live 5min away. The price is over exaggerated for the horrible quality. Marketplace in Strongsville is okay. But for fish I recommend fresh thyme or hinenns. I'm going there tomorrow to speak with a manager. I live in Middleburg Heights, but the Berea Giant Eagle is on my way home so I usually just stop at this one. Pretty normal grocery store. It is smaller than some of the other Giant Eagles I've been in so they don't have quite as big a selection. This one is WAY better than the Strongsville store though. read more

It's a pretty normal Giant Eagle. They have a handful of specialty items that I can't find at just any store. It's more expensive that Walmart, Aldi, or Marc's so I don't do my normal grocery trip here, but I really don't see why people would complain so much. It is clean. It does not smell. I do not see trash outside. I'm sure the icing probably comes in bulk, but like...seriously? My only complaint is that it's not arranged in a way that makes sense to me. It's taken me a long time to learn to navigave the place. And there are those few items that are so overpriced it makes me irritated. (Canned Asian mushrooms, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts are like $3 each while they're .80 at Marc's.) read more

This store is absolutely awful!! It is way over priced and the cashiers now bag the groceries! It is a huge waste of time. I went there to get grass fed and cage free meat, but never again. I would rather drive the extra 15 minutes each way and go to the marketplace. Also, Aldis has started to carry these items for a lot less money. In addition, the items weren't stocked. Really?? I'm starting to wish there were other grocery stores closer by that I could go to. Yesterday I bought a dinner for my daughter that was truly inedible. Nothing ever seems fresh there to me, though that's what they claim. Bought a cinnamon coffee cake that was not good either. Am going back with the food and receipt to get my money back. The restrooms and the store is mostly always clean, there is a wide variety of foods to choose from, the lounge is a nice place to hang out at and enjoy your cup of tea or coffee etc. I just wish that all of these kind of stores (Not saying only Giant Eagle) strictly enforced the Express lane policy. read more

This giant eagle is experience was the worst I've ever had. 5 stars down :( I gathered my items and stood in line. Unusually long check out for starters. Other counters were lit with no employees at them. My turn came up, I placed my items and prepared to pay. I was then denied the sale of alcohol. I had a valid drivers license on me at the time of check out, and I am currently 26 years of age. They then informed me that due to the other people in front of me in line, giant eagle would not let me purchase the items along with the alcohol. They then told me that it was a state law that if there is a group in the check out they have the right to deny the sale of alcohol. (That is not a state law, it's a lie) I was not with the other people in line, I merely exchanged friendly conversation. I was then told that if I did not leave (without my non alcoholic items eligible for purchase either) the police would be called. Cons: long line, poor selection, denied sale of alcohol & non alcoholic items, lied to, and very very disappointed! Pros: took my business elsewhere for a much lower price, and better customer service. Way to go giant eagle, again 5 stars down. read more

I'm sorry to report that I have been a Giant Eagle customer for many years and this store tops the list of the worst of all that I have shopped at. There is one superior customer service representative who I deal with, and, a couple of cashiers that I really like and resonate with. But the bad outweighs the good by a longshot (and, that goes for not having enough product stocked in what I want to shop for....which is also a very important factor in a grocery store). There is a 'time warp' here that needs to be addressed, also, the store's clerks tend to favor their 'old boy' and 'old girl' network friends which is very unfair to long term Giant Eagle customers. read more
