Deli workers never change their gloves...they are cleaning, moving boxes and then use the same dirty "hands" to offer to take care of your lunch meat. Giant Eagle is over priced. Although they have a decent variety of produce, they don't have nearly as much as Kroger. I had a bad experience today at the check out counter. The cashier was very nice and pleasant, however, the girl named Hanna was extremely rude to me and to her coworker. She threatened the cashier and told her that she will get written up for not charging 5cents for bags. I took out .10 cents and said it's doesn't need all this. Here is the .10 just stop threatening the cashier. But Hanna just kept saying go the cashier that they have been charging for bags for a long time now and she will make she gets written up. So I asked to speak to a manager. Manager came and I filled him in on what had transpired. He was nice and professional. He told me he will take care of it. I left there feeling so bad for the older lady cashier on how she was spoken down to. I hope Hanna is made to apologize to the cashier at the very least. read more

The store was well stocked with items and I was able to find things that you wouldn't find at many other places. I like to check my own items out and was able to get in and out without delay. They even had security by the door to make people feel safe. read more

I mean, it's Giant Eagle. It's a decent location, but their gift card selection is paltry compared to Market District. It's an average sized store. Selection is decent, the employees are always friendly and helpful. I go here for onesie twosie things when I run out, but when I'm doing shopping for the next few weeks, I go to Market District in Strongsville. read more

As many of you loyal Yelp readers know by now, I'm in town to help my brother recuperate from surgery. Being the giving soul that I am, I agreed to shop, cook meals, as well as other less glamorous tasks. Today's mission led me to this aptly named store to collect the ingredients for tonight's dinner of chicken picata & a bottle of white wine. I thought that this menu sounded gentle for a guy that had recent intestinal work done. An interesting side note: This store has a very large beer cooler housing dozens & dozens of beers from around the world. If I would have had winter clothing on, not just my stylish Elite '08 hoodie, I might have settled in for some illicit on-site drinking right then & there. Pretty slick store. Came into get some snacks. Their decorations (and merchandise) starts before you even get in, with potted plants on the front end- for decoration and sale. Walking in, they have everything stocked, clean, and nicely arranged. Fresh area was very well stocked (on a Saturday night?! It never looks this nice, anywhere!) and the floors were clean. Not just basic mopping and waxing, but no debris, messes, clearly these people not only have an attention to maintenance, but they clean as they go. They either care, or there are consequences for associates not giving a poop. Everything in the store was in stock, and I didn't notice a thing out. Good selections on my weird healthful foods, and well sorted. If I was in the area, and traffic wasn't crazy in here, I could see this being my regular grocery go to. read more

I live near and shop this store often. I love that it has a branch of my bank inside with great hours. The store is kept very clean and has a nice area to eat in and a large bathroom. Their bakery always has a nice selection, even cakes, which is very handy. My only problem with this store is checking out. Yesterday afternoon I did a big shop and was ready to go but there were only 2 lines with cashiers open. Well, there were 3 lights on but when I walked down to one, she had the closed sign on the conveyer belt so I had to go back to the now even longer 2 lines. I had way too much to go through the self checkout, which I dislike anyway. I felt discouraged to see the only cashiers are the two most notorious for being slow. I always avoid them. I know its not the worst thing in the world but it is something that I really dread. read more

Check-out lanes are much too long. More lanes need to be available during busy times. This is a management issue. Customer traffic should be monitored in real time. This situation is unfair to both staff present, as well as customers. You can do better Giant Eagle. read more

Giant Eagle has a lot to offer but the prices are also on the giant side. I visited this store when I was in Cleveland to see relatives. Except for organic berries I was able to find pretty much everything I needed but also noted the prices are higher than what I would usually pay (at Kroger in Cincinnati). While I was happy to find greaters ice cream here I would probably have to find an alternative store if I spent much more time in Cleveland. read more

Apparently, management at this location is unaware that most people who work during the week shop on weekends! In their infinite wisdom, this Giant Eagle constantly has a maximum of 2 cashiers working on Sundays!!!! SUNDAY!! The busiest shopping day of the week from what I can see. The lines are all the way down the isles. If you attempt to use self check, you can count on a blinking light which receives NO RESPONSE from store staff. The last time I was there ( Which will be the last) all self check lights were blinking and one cashier was open. Affer waiting 10 minutes and chatting w everyone else who was blinking (6 lanes) I shouted out "WE NEED HELP!!!" Can you imagine?? Yelling to get service and one cashier open on a Sunday at 1 in the afternoon. All of this, after I had 3 people ask me if I knew where to find things since the store was re- organized. One man left his basket and walked out. Too bad it's not a new nice Market District with a bar. Maybe if we were drinking, we would not care about being Unable to find half of what we came for and standing in line for 30 minutes to ring our own groceries. THIS GIANT EAGLE IS A GIANT FAILURE. I will pay more to go to Heinans. At Heinans, Every register is open on Sunday's and has a CASHEIR to ring your order. There are NO SELF CHECK Outs. read more

First off these bastards took the liquor license from a really great beverage store. They, of course, improved this by limiting choices of products and selection. But as a grocery store well their prices tend to be giant and you may need to an eagle eye to find a deal on a product without their label. Even deli is average at best. read more

Recently I began coming to middleburg's location over my home's location in Parma. For a few reasons, their produce seems to be fresher on most occasions. Also the staff seems a bit more willing to help. The biggest positive at this location is that they actually unlock the baby formula, which saves me 5 minutes of looking for an employee, who then has to look for a co worker to come unlock it. It's Giant Eagle so i can't go on and on. But in terms of preferred locations I'd choose this one over quite a few others. read more

The Eagle gets a lot of shit, but this one is good. Staff is helpful and usually smiling. The sushi guy is great and offers to make you fresh if the stuff in the cooler sat overnight. I would also say the sushi is better than Heinen's most of the time. Beer selection is revamped and better than it was. We do not have a lot of grocers here but this place is not bad. read more

This Bird, as far as Birds go is a nice one. I wish they'd fix the one up by my house more like this one. It is nice & clean. Although, I think the organization of this store is screwy. The employees here were great too! At the checkout the lady noticed me looking for a shorter (read faster moving) line at the self-checkout. Even after "revamping" their store I will still drive out of my way to shop elsewhere. Produce is never very fresh and the last time I ran in there they had no ground beef out. When I went to the counter and asked if he could grind some up he said only if it was over 3 lbs. Frustrating! read more

Now Giant Eagle is charging us to buy bags if we shop at their store. Are they trying one more tactic to drive us away. They have already screwed with their gas prices and have power wheel chairs that stop for no reason-won't start and block everyone around them, now we are being blackmailed to buy bags. It wasn't that long ago we were being pushed to use plastic and even asked if we wanted paper or plastic-but with no charge. They expect their customers to remedy all the damage done by plastic-which they promoted. It is not enough we go to the effort to shop at their stores, help them keep their employment and high prices-now we are being insulted and robbed of our hard earned funds with this charging for bags nonsense-people on fixed incomes are particularly hard hit by this Un-American - stab in the back. No other store is doing this-but GE is making their shopper jump through more and more hoops just to shop with them. I suggest people go to other grocery store, drug stores and Walmart-at least you have some respect from those stores and usually better prices too. You can't use a food card at self checkout and usually that's all that is available. Can't imagine what they will charge and for what when they shop for you. It is quickly becoming a nightmare for regular folk-they only want the rich. Hopefully-a new chain will come to town soon and save us all. read more

Hi I'm writing about two experiences I've had with an employee at your Southland location. I first interacted with Janet C. in late November. She was my cashier and I was checking out. While ringing out my large order, she commented as she was scanning a bottle of wine "I hope this isn't for you" and motioned to my baby in her car seat. I was pretty shocked that someone would actually have the nerve to say something like that to me. It bothered me for a long time but I ultimately decided not to reach out to Giant Eagle as I thought it was a fluke. My second interaction with Janet C. occurred yesterday. I asked her to price check two holiday pillows for me. She abruptly said "well it says on the pillow they are $10 each". I paused, as it is early January and there are signs all over the store indicating that there was a clearance on Christmas items. I asked her to still check them and they rang up for $2.49 each. I said "ok, I'll take those pillows and I'm not going to get this" and I motioned towards a children's gogurt yogurt package. Janet looked at me, looked at the yogurt and said "seriously- your not going to get the yogurt?" Taken back, I said no. Again, she proceeded to question me "uhh, your really not gonna get that?" I found myself searching to give her some explanation. "They are cheaper at Marc's" I said. I got into my car and was mortified. There is absolutely no scenario where I need to offer an explanation to a cashier on what I'm buying (wine) and what I'm not buying (yogurt). I find her behavior completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I know Giant Eagle must have some sort of store conduct or policies that this must violate. We called Southland yesterday to speak to a manager and spoke to a store lead who said "oh, Janet? She's a busy body and is always talking about everyone". We were promised a phone call back from a manager and never heard anything. read more
