Marc's is great for multiple reasons:
1. It is around the corner from my house.
This is great when I've gotten home, started baking something and realize, crap! I need more eggs. I hop in my car and I'm back home in approx. 10 minutes or less.
2. Cheap produce
The produce at Marc's costs way less than that at the Big Bird (Giant Eagle) and 90% of the time looks a million times better than that at the Big Bird. They have a decent selection of Organic options which I always appreciate too.
3. Close-Outs!
I love the close-out section. I swear, I wander into Marc's close-out section and get lost. It is like a mini-Big-Lots, and well, I LOVE Big-Lots. The fun part is that you just never know what you're going to find...and subsequently HAVE to buy!
Things I'm not a huge fan of a Marc's:
1. The cashiers generally are young, weird, and well...s.l.o.w.
2. If you can't find something on the floor 9/10x you ask the kid on the floor & they a. haven't got a clue what you're asking them about or b. haven't got a clue where you may or may not find said item and c. aren't going to really try to find out valuable information to provide you with feedback about said item.
3. If you ever have to return something you purchased at Marc's, you may just opt to keep it because the return process is a pain in the rear.
Things to know about Marcs:
1. They only accept cash, check, or discover card.
2. They don't carry everything you may need so you might have to make a run to Heinen's or, god-forbid, the Big Bird.
All in all, I shop at Marc's often and will continue to do so. Not a bad grocery and you can't beat the Close-Outs! Trust me.... read more
