I appreciate that you can fully black out the rooms with curtains for quality sleep. I loved the lighting in the rooms and the bathrooms. I also loved that the shower had a single on/off control button and full sized products in lieu of minis. The room comes with the basic towels, tp, iron and then also includes a steamer! There is an amenity room on each floor where you can get more towels, an ironing board, and filtered water. The lobby bar is so fun to hang out at in the evenings. I loved the large couches. The staff was also really nice both and check in and check out. They held our luggage on both ends and were very nice to deal with. Finally, the location is amazing. You are close to so many bars and restaurants without being stuck in the hustle and bustle of midtown. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at the public. I would recommend to anyone traveling to New York!

The dining/breakfast area covered in hanging plants and greenery is everything. Be sure to check out the bars and rooftop (which we didn't get to while we were staying here merp) and all the cool amenities they have. You almost need to only be here and not do anything else to fully enjoy everything but we had a packed schedule with so many fun things to do! The rooms are as stated, compact, minimal, pretty small but super functional. I do wish the gym matched the vibe of the rest of the spaces. I love that they have two peloton bikes but they're all banged up and could use a refresh. Awesome staycation at the PUBLIC, it was a whole vibeeeeeee.

I'll speak to the Beam Experience next, but before I do....do note, I give this place 5 stars overall, as it is an iconic NY building worth visiting. There's far more to see at this building, than just the observation deck I speak to in this review. . Now, what I personally found a rip off, is the Beam Experience. It costs $20 a head, in addition to your base observation ticket price. Not worth it at all and here's why: - You sit on the beam and strap in. - It goes straight up (5-6 seconds). - Pauses briefly and turns 180 to face outward (6-7 seconds). - It pauses again as it faces outward (9-10 seconds). - it turns back toward the Top of the Rock building and takes your pic (7-8 seconds). - Beam lowers back to roof top (5 seconds). . As you can see, it is so brief in duration. And there's nothing that makes you feel vulnerable at all. Or you're not any higher, actually lower, than an observation deck you can be in and be higher than folks on the beam experience. The only way the beam experience may be worth it to you....is for your to be highly nostalgic.....and want to sit on a steel beam....up in the air a bit....and technically be like those guys eating lunch on a beam all those years ago....in kinda the same place as those workers did way back when. If you don't know, that classic of the workers on the beam; occurred during the building of the Rockefeller Building. But as I see it, this beam experience isn't worth it at all.

Instead, it turned into one of the most poorly organized events I've ever attended. The venue was severely overcrowded, and there were far too few TVs for the number of people admitted. Most guests, including us, couldn't even watch the game because there simply wasn't enough viewing space. We spent the event walking around trying to find a place where we could see a screen, but it was impossible. This event was clearly oversold without proper planning or consideration for the guest experience. We paid specifically to watch the FIFA final, but ended up missing most of the match. We left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and honestly scammed. This was not the experience that was advertised or promised. I hope Top of the Rock takes responsibility for what happened and provides refunds to the affected guests, while making sure events like this are organized much better in the future.

Banksy popped into my radar one day and I bookmarked it. I forgot all about visiting this public…read moreart until today when it showed up nearby in my search. It's unusual so I felt lucky I saw it as I passed by. It's been covered in plexiglass for protection against the weather. It appears people and businesses are rallying to keep it from removal. It fun to photograph public art or as some call his work Graffiti. I'm glad I have the photos in my collection. It's my first Banksy.

Check it out on the UWS and get some cool pictures in front of here. The art doesn't look like it's complex, more of like a commentary that's the more complex thing about this. It somehow has become a thing to check out, because it's one of the few surviving pieces of Banksy public art. Officially it's titled Better Out Than In #20, and was part of a series. These appeared on the UWS in October 2013 and most disappeared soon after that. An acrylic panel protects it from graffiti artists...such as Banksy. So ironic. Zabar's put up the protection and has made the public aware of this. Cool that a great place like that takes an interest in art. They have some of the best bagels so be sure to go get some. As Banksy has gone onto bigger things it's cool that one of his older projects is around. It's at Broadway and 79th on the side of a building. This is a few blocks from Zabar's.

It has been exhibited in London, Monaco, Tokyo, Montreal, Dublin and elsewhere before landing here in New York. Barry Flanagan (Order of the British Empire and Member of the Royal Academy) was an Irish-Welsh sculptor. He is best known for his bronze statues of hares and other animals. He was the subject of a biographical film by Peter Bach, The Man Who Sculpted Hares: Barry Flanagan, A Life. The music is a blend that draws heavily of hip-hop, rap, R&B, soul, pop, and traditional Broadway show tunes. Modernized to 2015 era. Theatre patrons will not fall asleep. Theatre patrons will not be bored. Your ticket price paid is worth the theatrical experience. 3. It is based on the biography Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States who was an instrumental supporter of the U.S. Constitution who fought alongside President George Washington in the Revolutionary War. His work laid the foundation of America whose face is worthy to be depicted on the U.S. $10.00 bill. 4. It depicts history of Hamilton's journey beginning as a Caribbean immigrant rising to America's first Secretary of the Treasury. It is deeply rooted in New York City history. It depicts American history of the opposition fight for independence and creation Independence of United States of America. He is buried in Trinity Church, Financial District, Lower Manhattan, NYC. It also narrates Aaron Burr's rivalry and jealously Hamilton's strong ambition, brilliance, and determination to rise. "Hamilton wrote the other 51!" Ticket prices are highly extortionate! Tickets starts $127.00 to $155.00 for upper balcony or standard face-value seats. My rear orchestra center ticket was an astonishing extortionate $228.00! Hamilton, the Broadway musical makes use of the Richard Rodgers Theatre's double-nested rotating stage (turntables) prominently to create a dynamic, continuous movement and cinematic flow. I wish I saw the 2015 original cast Alexander Hamilton (Lin-Manuel Miranda) and Aaron Burr (Leslie Odom Jr.). Wait for it. Forward, eleven (11) years later I am now seeing it in 2026. I now have another Playbill and Broadway show ticket to add to my growing Playbill collection. Casting is non-white actors as the Founding Fathers of the United States and other historical figures for inclusion and equality. As per Lin-Manuel Miranda, songwriter, actor, and producer who described Hamilton: "America then, as told by America now." There is no traditional stage curtain for this Broadway show, but it did start and end on time - on point. There are 34 musical numbers total (17 musical numbers in each Act). The narrative is almost entirely sung and rapped through, thus, the numbers flow directly into each other without the traditional pause to segue in-between numbers. There is very little dialogue for spoken word as I would like a mix. There are occasional expletive explicit laden lyrical lines/ verses depicting strong explicit language "goddamnit." This includes uncensored F-word during the indiscretion of Hamilton's affair. "Cabinet Battle #1" & "Cabinet Battle #2" feature insults and harsher colloquial terms as "pain in the ass" and "shit." There are other numbers where expletive explicit laden lyrical embedded are "bastard" and "whore." Surely, my teddy bears speak more eloquently than thee! The costumes replicate 18th century Revolutionary era including U.S. founding fathers in white linen or lace cravats. My predilection for Hamilton musical numbers are: Satisfied Wait For It That Would Be Enough Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down) Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story Live with intention. My passions and interests entice me to pursue more to look around. "When everyone who loves me has died" this I can absolutely relate. "Death does not discriminate. It takes and it takes and it takes. I am the one thing in life I can control. I am an original." These versus resonate depth for meaning. Rise Up!

Purchase our tickets online beforehand $22 for seniors and $30 for adults. Good thing as there was a line at 10:30 when they opened all of people with prepaid 10:30 a.m. tickets. Headed directly for the 5th floor with works from 1880 to 1950 including Vincent van Gogh, Henry Mattese, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Alfred stieglitz, and Frank Lloyd wright. Famous individual works include Henry Matisse women dancers, Salvador Dali The persistence of memory, Claude Monet water lilies, Vincent van Gogh Starry night, and Pablo Picasso Les Demoiselles D'Avignon More modern works on the 3rd and 4th floors. Got through the entire museum seeing what we wanted to see by 11:45 a.m. Plenty of time for lunch at Blue and then the 2-hour journey by walking, subway, and air train to our gate at JFK airport

If you've not been, it's definitely interesting, though your interpretation of art will likely determine just how much time you spend here. Speaking of the gift shop, there's an amazing number of things to see there, at a variety of price points, so if you're looking for a souvenir to bring back home or a gift for an upcoming event/occasion, there is a little something for everyone here. In terms of the art, again, variety is the spice of life, but it may be best to come up with a plan of attack first. The galleries themselves can be a bit labyrinthy (I know it's not a word, but it really fits here) and it's easy to miss things. Recommend going up to the top floor and working your way down, too.

Reflection Mural…read more After checking my Yelp 'To Visit' collection I found myself in the area of the Reflection Mural. A quick walk going East on 42nd Street put me close. I was using the Yelp Map. What I didn't realize was that I was walking facing East and the side of the building where the mural is located was behind me. It's facing East at 212 East 42 Street. The mural is a huge beautiful face framed in a floral extravaganza. The details of the eyelashes and the reflection in the eyes is fantastic. It's so beautiful. If you're a fan of enjoying and visiting public artwork you'll love this piece. I'm so glad I have my photos to look at. You need to get there before time passes and it's gone! In 2019 a major 5 mural project began in order to represent the fight against child labor by…read moreworld-renowned artists in the streets of Midtown Manhattan. See my Yelp review on the "Future Of Work" The largest of these murals was undertaken by Cuban-American artist Jorge Rodríguez Gerada called "Reflection", it is 132 feet high and 160 feet wide and made to conform to and uneven sidewall with windows. Jorge painted a white caucasian child's face with big blue eyes containing scenarios of child-trafficking victims within the iris of both pupils.  The theme is advocating against child-trafficking and child labor, which are both rampant in around the world. The mural is on the far east side of 42nd street and can only be seen look west when you're like 50 feet on the ally on t6he side of the Westin Hotel and so it is unknown to most New Yorkers,
