I walk by Giannella's several times a week since it is right across from the train station in Glen Rock. Christmas eve I purchased some cream puffs for dessert. Good product but not exceptional. Staff is friendly. Prices moderate. This is less of a bakery than a deli; with the deli counter taking up most of the selling space inside. They have an huge list of sandwich specials for $6.00 or less. Good for local trade; not worth a special trip. read more

Love Giannella's, growing up in GR it was a staple for my friends and family. Great sandwiches great bread and the steak sandwich is delicious. I have read that people say the staff can be a little rude I could not disagree more always greeted with a big hello and a smile. read more

Friendly and polite - five stars just for how nice the guy helping me was even in the short exchange we had - nice clean large deli - only stopped in for some Pinole cookies (DELISH) but i will be back to try their lunch- the guy in front of me ordered the Johnny Depp? Excellent tuna salad sandwich with fresh baked bread. The sandwich was huge and I couldn't finish it although I ate about 90%. Large variety of both hot and cold sandwiches . Just came by G's for a quick lunch with my wife, and we were pleasantly surprised. It's a decent deli, with some pretty long wait times for not that big of a crowd. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap, and it took a good 15 minutes to get the order. When I finally consumed it, it wasn't bad. However, the wrap was really poorly constructed. They didn't close the ends of it at all, so you essentially couldn't eat it as a normal wrap. I had a melting pot of Caesar dressing, chicken and lettuce everywhere. They also put bacon on it. I don't know about you, but I've never even IMAGINED bacon on a chicken Caesar wrap. Granted, it tasted okay, but I'm not a big bacon guy at all. So that was just a bit odd. Also packed the wrap with croutons, which I'm not a fan of on a wrap. So pair the sloppy construction with the wait time and addition of things I didn't request or expect to be there, I land at my 3/5 rating. I have to update this downward based on several recent visits. Sandwiches are now consistently at Subway level. Little meat and cheese, but served on great bread. Service treats you like you are interrupting them. Other places in town will get my business going forward. read more

Always really good, today I got chips, a cookie, a sandwich, and a Snapple and it was $10. Their sandwiches are always neat and clean and I think it's the bread they use that makes it so good. They can take a while sometimes but it's always worth the wait. Today is a beach day for me and I always stop by for a poor girl before I get on the road. The staff is always very nice and helpful. Working a construction job nearby so we were looking for a place to grab lunch. The first day the bacon was missing on my sandwhich and dressing missing on my co-workers. No big deal. Next day lettuce & tomato missing and a side pickle which was charged for. Again no big deal a little frustrating. However, on the 3rd day we were rung up and the cashier asked what our order was. She charged accordingly. A couple minutes later she said the order was ready and packed up. When we got to the job site a sandwhich was missing. Drove back and let the cashier know. She said I should've checked the bag before I left! No apology whatsoever! Just passed the blame and quite crudely! Have another 3 weeks on this job and will NOT be going back! Very disappointed with the food I ordered. Got the robert deniro and it was extremely bland. The chicken cutlet was had no seasoning what so ever. The bread wasn't anything like Italian bread, it was just a roll. The mozzarella cheese didn't taste like mozzarella. I couldn't taste any of the flavors on the sandwich. Gianellas is a "meeting place" for my friends and I. I often get the Italian combo, a delicious sub including ham, provolone, lettuce and tomato. The sandwich is very tasty and luckily not so expensive. The atmosphere is wonderful and always very clean and the customer service is as friendly as ever. So my office was looking to send a local client some kind of food assortment as they had a death in the family. Most catering places charge by the person and we didn't know how many people were going to be at their house. We happened upon this deli via yelp and noticed that on their catering page they offered all different types of platters for a fixed price. So we called them to see if they would do a platter for same day delivery and they agreed to do it. We ordered a large antipasto platter which served 20-25 people. This was at 1:00 p.m. on a Friday and they said they would have it delivered between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. that same day which was excellent. We also asked to have a note included with the platter and the person taking the order (sadly I forget her name) was kind enough to offer to pick up a sympathy card and write in what we wanted to say which we greatly appreciated. I really wish they or the family had taken a picture of the platter they received as we would have liked to have seen the final product. But upon speaking to the family they loved it - they were so surprised when it arrived and said they had a feast! So hats off to this deli for going the extra mile and and taking care of this for us in such short notice. I hope to go here personally to order food for myself soon. read more

The last and only store still owned by the original Giannella family. Exceptional service, great food and prices are VERY reasonable. They charge under $5 for their Italian Combo! Try the "Johnny Depp" sandwich. They have cases with a large variety of deli meats, homemade salads and cake. Such a great family. If your lucky, they sometimes give out free bread, cookies and coffee for NO reason. So not good if your on a diet! I wish they would give out their turkey meatballs instead! lol! read more

After my experience today at Gianellas I had to join yelp and give my first review. I wont bore you with the details but today was nothing but bad luck for my wife children and I. Make a long story short we finally reach Glen Rock after 5 p.m. and we were starving. The lights were on in Giannellas but the door was locked. The owner came out from the back and let us in. He had been closed for over an Hour, but insisted on serving us. We obliged. He made us two excellent prosciutto chicken cutlets sandwiches on very tasty italian sub rolls, and fired up the deep fryer for mozz sticks for the kids. After everything that went wrong a small act of kindness was a pleasant surprise. This place has my vote! Its a shame we live in Hoboken. I will eventually make it back to Giannellas. read more
