We were too full to consider desert. Our feeling was this restaurant mainly caters to locals. Most people who entered had Irish accents. We would definitely return to this restaurant.

I can't recommend this place enough!…read more I was with a group of 6 gal pals exploring Northern Ireland, and this recommendation came from our cab driver in Dublin a few days prior. We decided to check it out since it was on our way to Belfast, and we were so glad we did! What an AWESOME spot! The decor is incredible - so many little old school trinkets jammed in every little cranny - it makes it feel like grandmas house, and so charming at that. And the food... everything we ordered (which was a lot!) was incredibly delicious! The bread they served for appetizer was so good we bought a loaf to take with us for breakfast the next day! Highly highly recommend the French Onion Soup - best I've ever had. And the fried fish/shrimp appetizer was delicious and so cute - served on individual forks! The beet and goat cheese app was also superb. I could go on and on about how much I loved this place, from the decor to the food to the service, but instead I'll leave it at this: Visit! If I'm ever back in the area I know that I'll for sure be back. Yum!

We found this place close to the hotel we were staying at and it had great reviews and so we decided to give it a shot we were not disappointed. The service was fast and Everyone was friendly and we would definitely stop in again. Wheelchair accessibility: there are several disabled parking spots close to the venue and a zero rise entry to get into the building; the doorways are slightly narrow, but they were easily able to accommodate us with a wheelchair at a lovely table. There's also table seating inside and out that would be wheelchair friendly and the bathroom was roomy and accessible.

Though the real winner was their flaky and fresh croissants, of which I had too many. In addition, there were many bread choices, scones & other pastries. Traditional foods: scrambled eggs (note: very soft cooked), black & white pudding, sausage, ham, potatoes, tomatoes and shrooms. Definitely worth including with your stay! We did not make it in for any other meals, tho I'm also adding a review for the ground level restaurant, where we had dinner.

From the outside it looks like the sort of place you would take granny and Grandad for their Sunday dinner, and indeed you will find a whole pile of the over 60s brigade in the Diamonds and for very good reasons, the grub is fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced. A great selection from Breakfasts, sandwiches, full dinners, fish, chicken, burgers etc and plenty of side dishes to tempt you. This is a really busy popular spot with the locals and it deserves its great reputation. On Sundays and holidays there will be a queue to get in. During the couple of days I spent in Carlingford I noticed Liberty Cafe directly opposite our…read moreaccommodation and loved how it looked. It's a quirky cafe with flower painted walls and wooden tables outside, so you can sit with a coffee and watch the happenings on Thosel Street. I visited early on Sunday morning, 13/08/2017, and it was wonderful as the cafe and street were nearly empty - most of bustling Carlingford seemed to still be in bed. Within an hour everywhere was bustling again, so it was lovely to enjoy the initial peace and quiet. Two friends and I took a table outside in the cool morning sun and ordered three veggie breakfasts and coffees. My veggie omelette, filled with tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms and cheese, and served with toast, was pretty good. The others ordered brown and soda breads with poached eggs. Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was a little slow and there was a slight mix up in our orders - I was initially served brown bread not the white toast I'd asked for and my friend the opposite - but we swapped our bread so all was fine. All in all, an enjoyable experience and next time I'm in Carlingford I will return to try some of the delicious looking cakes they sell.

The staff are really sweet and overall extremely accommodating and I would absolutely recommend coming here, and will certainly be returning next time I'm in Carlingford.

We hadn't planned on going here as we had intended to try Melissa O' Hare's food truck offerings that were the same offerings a week ago on our first sojourn. She had parked up within a glamping style place with a stunning view of Camlough lake. It was a dull cool overcast grey day. We speculated that Melissa wouldn't be too busy. Wrong as the line was huge. We guessed we'd queue at least an hour but we aren't prepared to queue five minutes especially in this climate of 9 winter months, two autumn months and maybe one summer month. So we ended up here. All four of us loved our food here. I had delicious fish tacos (£16 with a choice of side). The fish was cod in a light batter with fresh lime, coriander, fresh chilli. My first choice of scampi wasn't available. I opted for a chunky chips side to share around as I didn't want them. While 5 star grub it's too expensive for what it is but was the only dish overpriced. I noted from the menu that a fillet steak with fixings is now £40. The desserts (all £6.5) were scrumptious and fair priced - I had raspberry ruffle baked Alaska and a flat white (£3). Cosy place. The staff are wonderful too. Hope we return soon.

Magees had been our restaurant of choice, but when we entered, it was very apparent that off season it was not - ooops. That said the hostess informed us that we were in luck and that they had one table left - hurrah! Lesson of the day - always book a table. Service started off really well, with drinks and food orders taken really promptly. The starters came out and no sooner had the starter plates had been cleared, our mains had arrived. Wow, prompt indeed. I ordered the crispy skinned salmon, which was quite tasty. All mains came with a portion of potato gratin, however the portion size of the potato gratin that came with my salmon was very small. Two inches squared I reckon and this is not an exaggeration. When my main arrived I immediately asked for a portion of bread. I hope this would have indicated to them that the portion size of my main course was not up to scratch, not for 18.50 EUR anyway. The bread was slightly stale soda bread, just meh but it filled a gap. As I said at the beginning, the service started off really well? However after the mains were done it became non-existent. We peered hopefully at all staff on the floor but couldn't make eye contact with any of them. The server who had cleared the table after our mains even asked if we wanted to see the dessert menus, which we said yes to. But he must have forgotten about us as he continued to deliver more food to other tables. Finally noticed, we got the dessert menus with apologies and I ordered the White Chocolate Surprise cocktail for 8.50 EUR, it was ok for the price I guess. But I wouldn't order again. They have something good here Magees, but it just lacks something in execution. They want to charge 18.50 EUR for a small main course, they need to up their game in terms of quality and service.
