I'm in the early stages of the home-buying process but I've shopped several lenders. I found there are no "stand outs" as far as pricing and rates. The lenders vary in the amount of Negotiating they're willing to do, too. What I really love about Gold is Popi You need a job take out a mortgage. Popi works with me outside of my work hours so I don't have to disrupt my work schedule for this home-buying (time consuming) process. I also realize that it's outside of her work hours so it means a lot. There's never a question that she does not know (or is not willing to find out) and I always get an immediate response. She'll talk numbers but she'll also check up on you to see if you got the house you wanted. She goes far beyond any Originator would! Before I decide if I want to make an offer, I give her the purchase price and she tells me my estimated payments within a matter of hours - even if its late. She's been the best asset in this whole process! The process started out smooth but once it got to the underwriter things became very challenging. We closed on the construction loan and were told that that was the toughest part that the closing for the permanent loan would be easy. Well our loan officer failed to tell us that we needed to have a 3 month reserve in our savings account of over $5000. Now we can't close on the house after waiting 6.5 months and paying interest payments and upgrades on the home while it was being built. You would think that they would've thought to mention to have a reserve of that much money. Totally frustrated with them. Should've gone with a different bank! read more

We have used Gold Financial Services three times in the last year and a half. The first time was to refinance our home mortgage, which was a surprisingly simple process. We were able to do it all from the comfort of our home with electronic signatures and a few wet ink items at the end. When we were thinking of refinancing, Mike Horner took the time to talk through the process (trust me, I ask a lot of questions). He was patient and kind and helped us understand up front what our estimated closing costs would be, so we could use that to guage the benefit of refinancing at a lower rate. This year we purchased land and a new home, it was an easy decision to use Gold Financial again. Both experiences were just as good as the re-fi. When our home loan was processed and ready to lock in a rate, Patrick Johnson had phone calls with us daily about interest rates. This allowed us to make educated decisions about when to lock. He was transparent with us about how many days we would expect each step of the process to take, including our drop dead last day to lock if we wanted to keep watching the market! He also discussed multiple loan options with us so we could make the decision on the loan that was best for our family. He then asked if I had a conversation with them in the last 3 weeks, and I told him I called them last week. He then said, well we cant help you then. He refused to tell me why? I am really surprised by these reviews. We bought our house in 2013 and I cannot recommend Michelle Noble and Gold financial enough. Buying our first house was scary and they really made it easy. Yes, people, they are going to ask for a zillion different papers and have requirements you need to meet but that's what getting a mortgage is! I was aware of a lot of the requirements already so I was pretty prepared to go through a stressful time, but it was SOO easy and we got approved, searched for houses, and closed on our house in less than a month and a half. I would not recommend this company for any mortgage or refinancing loan services. Gold Financial Services, in San Antonio, TX is affiliated with AmCap Mortgage Company. The Gold Financial Services team especially the loan officer that handled my case breached his fiduciary duties which lead to not being properly informed about all services provided or full disclosures of policies. They were not very helpful, and they waited until the last minute to give us the news of a denied loan. The denied loan could have been avoided if we had been properly informed in a timely manner.We had to jump through a lot of unnecessary hoops which created anxiety and stress. The delivery and services were not handled well which put my family in a financial hardship because of their lack of communication and cooperation. This company has no compassion for their clients, and they lack empathy. read more

We were misled and signed a building contract. Lost out on thousands of dollars and changed our lives based on promises from Dorothy. Incompetent and untrustworthy. I can't speak for the whole company but do not do business with Dorothy! Failed to communicate with us and our builder, stated numerous times that we would be fine for closing. Per conversation with VP of the company there was no way we would have gotten financed until December. Dorothy knew our closing date be in September when we signed contract in March. We tried contacting her when we found out from our builder that we were not approved and she would not answer our calls. We called from another number and when we told her our name she hung up the phone. Has not returned our phone calls! Our children and family are totally devastated! read more

She would not respond to my emails, phone calls, or voice mails so after about 3 months of wasted time and resources, I finally decided to go with another loan officer that approved my application in less than 24 hours and I closed on my house in less than a month. read more

If I could give no stars I would.... Just had my loan and living situation/construstion tied up with this company for 7 months and still couldn't get a closing date! I fired them 3 days ago..... I would not wish my terrible experiance on anyone! Everytime I turned around they needed the same papers I had already furnished.. had to "update" things multiple times throughout the process because it was taking so long.. and it was always someone elses fault!!! I spend 7 months with pushed back deadlines and empty promises only to end up needing to restart with a different company! Please do your research and go with a different company! I will say I have gotten better customer service starting on a friday and going through a weekend with my new lender than I got in 7 months with them! Terrible experiance! read more

This place is horrible! If you ever work with Michelle Taylor, Ryan and Dana Copeland, stop the process immediately and run far away from them. This company is just out here robbing people and they let some get a house to stay in business. They gave me 100% guaranteed I'll get a property, approved me easily, gassed me up by having the "team" send me congratulations messages. Then once it got to the underwriter things got very unprofessional, property was in escrow for 7.5 weeks (3.5) over original escrow closing date. Any little change to my account deposits or withdrawal was a hold up. It felt like my accounts were frozen, very unprofessional process that dragged on. They ask for college transcripts and reasons I was unemployed for two months three ago etc etc. it was a horrible experience and I'm a first time home buyer using a VA loan. I'm a veteran and they even used that to gas me up saying they take care of veterans. Long story short I loss thousands of dollars, they convinced me to sign over my deposit through the whole process, it was literally a robbery I feel robbed. Don't mess with this company. I wouldn't want this experience to fall on anybody. It was a disaster. I moved out my place and so did the family in house I was buying. read more

I would suggest not going with this lending company as your lender. We have been in our home for almost 1 month and I still hold a grudge with this lending company, because of the unethical practices and our poor experience we had with Gold Financial. I truly have never wrote a poor review in my life; however, in this case I want to ensure that our experience with this company NEVER happens to anyone else. We are first time home buyers, so we felt that we have been fully taken advantage because we were unprepared. The list goes on and on, but to give you a few of the unethical things that transpired throughout this process: we never met with the lender - everything was always "everything looks great" until 1 week before closing, we were never talked through the lending process (what documents we should prepare to send, that closing could potentially be pushed out, how the process normally works, etc.) it was as if we should have known all of this. I kept blaming ourselves until we found out that we were not locked in our interest rate until they jumped to 4.5% (when we should have been locked in at 3.75), our close was pushed back just over 2 weeks, they asked us if we had sent over documents that already had been sent, our closing costs had doubled from the time they had first told us, etc, etc, etc. Again, I hate to do this, but I would not wish our experience on my worst enemy and I would hate to see this happen to someone else. I want to add that they did buy our interest rate down to 4.0% after a family friend that is a mortgage officer (Dan Connell from Flagstar Bank) had ensured that this was the least they could do to better our experience with them. We are thankful that they had done that. Dan went above and beyond (at no benefit to him) to exceed our expectations and to ensure that we were in that house! I promise you he will not disappoint if you are looking for a lender. read more

As a Realtor, you can't dictate who the buyer uses to get their mortgage, but I wish I could, just so they could AVOID really bad ones like these folks. Delay after delay, broken promises, then wanted some additional documentation THE DAY OF CLOSING! As an experienced Realtor with 13 years in the business, this company ranks at the top of worst experiences ever. If you want to buy one of my listings, and your pre-approval is through Gold Financial, I would counsel my sellers to reject the offer or force the buyer to use a different lender. They are that bad. Michelle Noble is absolutely the worst con artist on this earth along with being disorganized and disappearing after getting the hook in my mouth. Her assistant Keesha is a big fat embarrassment and is more likely finish an all you can eat taco bar than to finish your loan. Dealing with these 2 has cost me dearly and I wish I would have never crossed paths with these heathens. Mr Goldman did refund me some of the admin fees I had to pay for Michelle & Keesha when he found out about this disaster. It wasn't enough in light of what happened. Mr Goldman seems to be an OK person but he needed to redraw the messed up loan they gave me (I was guilty of not asking for this at the time). Now that some time has passed, this situation was screaming for this type of resolution as this "Michelle-loan" has been financially crippling to me and my family. I have tried to reach out to Mr Goldman several times to see if we could fix this situation. So far I have not received a response. Obviously I would never want Michelle Noble to ever touch a loan (in fact I wouldn't trust her to prepare a 7-11 hot dog) but another manager might be able to provide a resolution. read more

Cold called my cell phone (from a blocked number) to talk to me about a mortgage as my 'lease was expiring'. I have never contacted them and cold-calling cell phone numbers is illegal, isn't it? Especially when every # I own is on every Do Not Call list I can find. read more

Wonderful experience from start to finish. We just bought our first home with Kathy Rubin. She and her loan processor Patricia Cortez were so easy to work with. As first time home buyers, we were not familiar with the process, but Kathy walked us through each step. She was responsive and answered calls and texts at all hours and on weekends. We did have a few moments of panic due to some old collections accounts, but Kathy was calm, honest and steered us right through. Patricia was extremely meticulous about the details and it showed that she takes great pride in her work. When we went to the title company to close, even the agent and the assistant commented on how easy Patricia and Kathy were to work with and how accurate their estimations were.
