Mistakenly sent GFL my $1,300 mortgage payment last month. So I contacted thier office immediately in hopes of correcting this mistake, and getting a refund. I got the run around for about a week, until they ultimately told me that after providing them with detailed transcripts of my checking account as "proof of payment" it would take 8-10 weeks to receive my over payment back. If I could award them zero stars I would, and if I could go with a different company I most certainly would. But unfortunately they have a monopoly in my area, which explains why they're such a horrible company. They are horrible. The pick ups never come when scheduled. When you call the customer service people are incredibly rude. They will swear up and down that it got rescheduled for another day. That day will come and go with no pick up. Absolute worst service. read more

If I could give this company zero stars, I would!! Our residential area, went with this company, and we are absolutely disappointed, in the service that they give. Last week once again, they did not take our grass clippings which were in the proper bags.. so after 2 weeks of this we put them in our trash can. They went in the trash can and pulled them out and tossed them to the curb. Ring doorbells are amazing and so are neighbors. We have had nothing but issues with GFL from day one. I called them to complain and I spoke with a really nice young lady, who was sympathetic to what happened however, there was nothing she could do about it. I did ask for the supervisors phone number however, that cannot be given out.! I absolutely refuse to pick up the clippings or the bags that you've tossed in the street. Do not use this company for your trash and recycle pick up. When they don't pick up your trash don't bother calling to report it. You will be on hold for a loooooong time. The drivers and pick up crew are pretty terrible, they all converge at the BP gas station on canton center dr & Michigan ave every morning at 6:30am, some days they're standing in big groups passing blunts around and getting high before the day starts, and they're so trashy, always being rude to people and making a scene In the gas station smh. read more

I ordered dumpster because I'm Having construction on my building I mentioned to the lady that I'm going to put cement blocks when they came to pick up the dumpster and replaced it the driver couldn't lift it.they charged my credit card without my permission . When I call them today they said they don't have manager and that they can't lift it I should've ordered small one when no one told me. I won't deal with them again . read more

Please go with another company. The driver passed our house, took a picture of our house without our recycle can out, watched me put our recycling can out, and then continued on his way without coming and emptying it, but they sure did charge us over $130 for that one month. We can only put our can out one time per month due to our schedules, so we're waiting now a month and a half for our Tuesday to come where we can hopefully get our can out there in time before he decides to drive by. I called GFL and was told I should've done this and I should've done that and it's my fault and too bad so sad. Too bad, so sad for GFL that that's their customer service both in their office and in their trucks. We canceled and are going with another company. This is the second time they have skipped picking up our trash. The first time I called and they were out here quickly to pick it up but this time it's going on 3 days past my pickup day. I don't understand why they are not doing their job. They picked up trash on the street behind me so there is no excuse as to why they couldn't have done it. read more

My neighborhood association decided to contract GFL as the sole provider for the residents because it offered the best collective rate. I have this service for garbage and recycling, and I recently signed up for their yard waste removal service as well. They demanded the $99 annual fee upfront, and I was reluctant to do this because they have occasionally missed garbage pickup, tossed my bins across the street into the neighbor's yard for me to pick up (in the snow), etc. But I risked it because I needed yard waste removal to be easier for my life than hiring someone local to haul it away each time. So far, they have missed both of the two first seasonal pickups for yard waste, leaving me with the waste to deal with some other way. I feel it's a bit shady to demand payment upfront for a service they're not providing (isn't that considered merchant fraud?), and they're not too concerned with it when I've called them to find out what's going on. One rep has tried to be helpful, but the others I spoke to were audibly rolling their eyes and really didn't seem to care. This seems to be nothing unusual to them. I'd rather pay more for a service that's exactly that, rather than something that's only added more unnecessary frustration and burden to my life. I would recommend shopping around, and asking your providers what their reliability and accountability record is. I would also avoid ANY company that's demands payment upfront. read more
