When it comes to outdoor bootcamp, especially in Vancouver, you will find one at almost every beach, playground, and gym possible. This one is different, and here is why. Without giving away too much about the workouts, to start its 90 minutes long. Its the ideal amount of time to have a workout intense enough, that also includes about 10 - 15 minutes of total warmups and cool downs. It happens twice a day, either at 5:30 am, or 5:30 pm, if you are hardcore enough you can go to both, however very few have ventured down this road, for me it has only happened once, however did nothing but eat protein and carbs the following day. 90 mins, once a day at GFIT is more than enough.
It is OUTDOORS at Jericho Beach, rain or shine, snow or hail storm, there will be a class happening, even if you are the only one who shows up. You will be doing situps with snow falling down on your face, pushups in the sand, running through trails in the rain, and after every single class you will not believe you just managed to finish that workout.
The sense of community in the class is fantastic, everyone encourages one another. A workout is not complete until everyone is done, so you will find yourself doing extra pushups, situps, reps, or running a little bit extra to help your teammate out. High fives, and jokes are common, however you never want to get caught cheating on an exercise, slacking off, or quitting early, cuz that turns into burpies(the worst and best thing ever) for everyone. Classes meet three times a week, M,W, F, and every 3rd Wednesday of the month is buddy day, basically a free class to come and check out what we do. Many have joined with the intention of trying it out for a month, and have continued to stay on for years.
One last thing, we all go by last names. Now ive said too much. Are you GFIT? read more
