GFB Scottish Pub is a cool bar. They call themselves a Scottish pub, but you won't find many differences from your typical American bar. I don't mean this in a negative way, just a reality. They have some food items that might lean towards Scottish fare, but there are still your traditional American food offerings. All in all a cool place. This place gets 1 star only because you have to pick one if I could I would give negative. Wow GFB = Gross F*cking Bar!!! The smell was enough to knock you over. The service was incredible slow. The dirt and dust on the display was incredible. The only thing I ordered was in a bottle with the lid on. The friend I was with started to get sick in the bar from the mold in this place. The ladies room was special. The sign in the stall stated if they found more then one in the stall you would be asked to leave. This pub needs Jon Taffer so no one gets sick!!! read more

GFB (Great F'ing Beer) is a Scottish twist on an American tavern. Great for beach season, or all year long. Friendly staff, good food, full bar and a decent selection of beer and ales. Their food is all bar food/fried and although they have the best wings I've ever had I don't dare order anything anymore because the place is so filthy filthy dirty. I don't think they clean their bathrooms regularly and the female owner can't take the time to get off her barstool and phone to do anything to help the place. The male owner is sweet caring willing to do anything to keep his business open except tell his wife to get up and help. Their poor OLD dog~ that is an entirely different story. He goes from table to table begging for food and his dog bed looks like it hasn't been washed ever and smells the same. I'd give ZERO STARS if I could. Brought my Scottish in-laws in for drinks and food and walked into a bar that smelled awful and was greeted by a dog running up to us. Two bartenders at the bar didn't even greet us and stood there stocking the bar. Terrible! read more

My wife and I have spent two weekends a summer in Old Orchard beach for the last few years. We stumbled on this fun little off the beaten path pub a few years back. We had so much fun on our first visit we have made a point to go back every time we are in the area. Unfortunately this trip may have changed that for us. We stopped in last week on a last minute night away to OOB. The bartender was so unbelievably rude. Not only to us but to others seated near us. It was a little busy and he was the only one working however to snap at us and tell us we had to stand in the line to order. There is no sign or anyone telling you when you sit at the bar you could not get service. Simply explain that to us? NO. He snapped at us and was so rude about it we left. I've not ever encountered someone like this in a restaurant and am not sure I will ever return to be treated like that again. Thankfully we had a nice time at the Brunswick!!! read more

We had fun at first, sang and played pool. Then when my husband went to get another round they wouldn't serve him. he asked nicely 'why' and we were told 'get the F out of here' by the nasty owner. I had a really great time here last night! The service was really great and the bartenders were very attentive. Drafts were basic beers that you'd find in any bar like Bud, Allagash, etc. but nothing like what you'd find in Portland. They have a 4 dollar beer sampling deal. The food was basic pub food. This would be good for a larger group. It has plenty of indoor seating and a few tables outside. You can play pool, darts or fooseball with friends. The live music was really great. I posted a picture of their event schedule from the bathroom wall... The crowd is mainly locals like other reviews mention. Parking is kind of annoying but there's a lot by the bar that's 5 bucks which isn't bad. Afterwards you can go hang out on the beach or walk to the Brunswick. read more

-Great bartender, owner seemed nice at first, but the females in our group were confronted by two alarmingly creepy guys. We were sitting outside, enjoying our beverages and two local twenty somethings approached and began spouting sexual innuendo and objectification of the two females in our party. We were cold in the hopes that the two creeps would lose interest, they didn't. When the owner heard that we were celebrating a birthday he brought out two Jell-O shots for the women, laughed and joked with the creeps, and then appeared put off when we told him we were leaving. This is where the locals go! You can save a @#!%ton of money because the food is reasonably priced (The tartan burger is amazing), The drinks are made a little more robust than elsewhere on the beach and the atmosphere is laid-back and uncrowded. The owner of this bar is the most unreasonable and unapproachable woman I've ever met. If you plan on having a good night at this location, make sure you buy a drink RIGHT AWAY. If a drink is not bought IMMEDIATELY, the owner will publicly shame you over the microphone while you are trying to have fun and vibe with the music. Overall, this place had potential (if you enjoy bathrooms stalls that don't close, sticky tables, and a building that smells like piss). I met a group of friends here on a Sunday night and were there from 5 until almost midnight. The pool tables were fun and the drinks were good. The food was really good! Once the first band showed up though, the speakers were cranked to 11 and my ears have been ringing for days afterward. They had no covid precautions whatsoever. A drunk regular in an outback hat harassed my friend and tried to start a fight with my boyfriend- presumedly over my friend's skin color. We all left after that. Stopped in here a few weeks while staying in OOB. This place definitely has some interesting vibes going! Staff were very friendly and they offer some good locally brewed beers. Burgers and ribs were served on paper plates, which did not bother us as the food was great. We had fun listening to a couple tunes by the NightRockers, once they finally got all their stuff mic'd. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. The owner is SO unprofessional! My friends and I were there for 15 minutes MAX and we were harassed 3 different times (including being followed into the bathroom) by the owner to buy drinks. She told us that it was "not a place for hanging out" and even took the mic from the karaoke to PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE that we NEED to buy a drink. She told us if we didn't buy a drink so she could "pay the dj" then she would not allow us to come back (I would never go back by choice). Burger was ordered medium well but it came barely even medium rare. will definitely be getting sick. The fries had sugar on them- not salt. Saturday Karaoke! We called and were told there was Karaoke , we came with out of state guests looking forward to a fun evening...what a disappointment. Asked at the bar was told by the bar tender to speak to the owner. She was sitting at the bar texting. When we asked her, and it was a simple question, I did not get miffed until she got rude...so we went outside where it was quieter as the band was sooo loud it was hard to hear. They were good but too loud, so we went outside to have a drink. Miss Happy comes out moving some kind of chain, one of the gals asked if she was closing off the area. Miss Happy gave her attitude and snapped at her...we decided since she was rude and obviously had no customer service skills we were leaving..she nastily informed me to get over it and let it go. Well let me tell you...we didn't really miss out on anything special. Bar was edgy, hardly anyone there, dark and dingy, smelled like it hadn't been cleaned or aired out. bathroom was dirty we didn't use it either. I don't get annoyed very often...but when the owner of a place throws attitude and gets nasty...it isn't worth 1/2 or even 0 star. I went to GFB for the first time last night for dinner with my family. I got the chicken and rice special with beans and raisins. I added some hot sauce and the taste, texture and heat were all to my liking. We also tried the haggis and Scottish eggs. We all liked them and were all also happy to be trying something refreshingly new and traditional at the same time. The service was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. I had a great time at this bar. The bartenders had a great mix of wise and sassy, and they made good drinks and perfect pours every time. The owner was on site and seemed like a great guy. He was friendly, attentive, and fun. There was lots of great entertainment and fun. A talented classic rock band who played both covers and original songs were playing that evening and the staff expressed their mission of filling the pub with great music. Darts, pool, ping-pong and fooseball were all free that evening as well. My wife and I also enjoyed a game of chess while there which was a clincher for me. We did not eat there but everyone we saw seemed to enjoy their meals as well. The final thing that I enjoyed was the parlay between the staff clientele. I was on my last night of vacation in a new place. I hadn't been impressed at many of the bars that I had gone to. However the local patrons of GFB combined with the friendly staff made me feel welcome and at home. I highly recommend this pub. read more
