I think this is the most charming store in Marquette and one of my favorite places to visit. It is family owned for generations and they have everything you need to keep warm in the winter and have all the fun in the summer. Great service. Very good selection of shoes, clothing, sweaters, ski wear and socks for both men and women.

It's fun to look around at Getz's, but it's not really my style and the prices are pretty high. They offer premium brands at premium prices, so it makes sense. I saw a cool sweatshirt that I liked but it was $100+. That's just not an amount I'm willing to spend since I definitely don't need another sweatshirt. There are three levels in the store and they have lots of clothing, shoes, and some accessories like purses/bags/hats. I was sort of hoping for more souvenir type items like stickers and things with Marquette or U.P. on them, but that's ok, since we got them elsewhere before leaving town. They do have some sale items but I didn't really browse those too much. If you're in need of some warm clothes, a new coat, winter boots, etc. - definitely stop in here. read more

Getz's has a very wide variety of "go to" brands for active sportswear. Shop the winter sale, and you can find some great deals. The store is massive and covers three floors. We make a point of stopping in every time we travel to Marquette and always find something we like. read more

We visited Getz after the weather turned chilly on our trip to the UP for fall foliage viewing. My boyfriend was in need of a warmer coat and found some great items! Their Carhartt selection is the best I've ever seen and they had a really wide selection of hats, socks, and other winter accessories. Lots of quality brands and the clearance section in the basement had some steals. Will have to visit again the next time we are visiting. read more

Getz's was a very great store to shop at i've been coming here for 37 years. Rocky was an amazing owner who cared immensely about his customers and employees. He treated everyone their with respect and didn't have a bad bone in his body. He knew how to run a small loved business. Now that his wife, Carol took it over it has fell into shambles. I will not be shopping their after i've heard how Carol talks to her employees, and customers. I've witnessed her in raising her voice, swearing and being a abusive to customers who medically can not wear masks and to employees as well. I will take my business elsewhere as long as she is the owner. It is a very heart-breaking what Carol has done to this very well-known and loved business in our community. read more

I love that they firmly support masks. Knowing that they do so even with the flack from people who think themselves better than the rest is what actually turned me around to go inside. I ordered some Insoles for my Husband they never came I was told that the PO sent them back to them which was a lie then I talked to the Manager and he sent me a pair out of a display pair of boots and Said He will order me a new pair I have yet to see them I hate being lied to or cheated out of Money I will never shop at this store if it was the last one on Earth if they treat one Customer like this they will treat others to so I am out 25.00 for Insoles that I will have to order from Red wing Direct Bad Customer service read more

My mom came there today to buy an expensive pair of shoes. The staff treated her like she was crap. Do not shop here. My mom is important and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I am so upset with these people. They offered a gift certificate. My mother's dignity is worth more than the girt certificate. I have half a mind to file a discrimination lawsuit (RE: American Disabilities Act 1990). I would give them zero stars if it would allow me. No one should be able to treat my mom in such a manner. Great local place to find clothes and shoes. Much better than big box stores and more hands-on than a website. Some of the reviewers are completely unrealsitic. Comparing a store in a small midwest town to New York or the selection from the Zappos.com warehouse is idiotic. If you like a good selection of clothes and knowledgeable salespeople then this is a great place to stop. Each season has a different selection and can definitely meet your needs. Only downside, from my experience, is the men's dress clothes could use some additional sizing options. If you like a slimmer fit then it will likely need to be ordered or tailored. read more

In Defense of Getz I'm from Chicago and have always enjoyed visiting Getz to find something I need. Yes, the main floor prices are expensive. But you get what you pay for. I normally shop the basement and find a bargain or two. Also, Getz is one of the biggest seller's of Carhartt's clothing in the nation. If Carhartt makes something, you can find it at Getz. Last weekend, my wife sound a beautiful sweater for over a $100 that was marked down to $30. She was delighted. Now that my son graduated from NMU, I don't know when we'll see Getz or Marquette, MI again. But don't go by the other reviewer. If you're in Marquette, visit Getz for fine quality clothes at various prices. And the people are nice and helpful also. read more

They do have a good selection of brand names being that it is in the Upper Peninsula and you can't always find many places that carry a selection like theirs. My only complaint is that the employees are rude, taking from my own experiences with the store, they are not very helpful and when asked a question it seems to become a huge burden to them, I've had many eye rolls and snooty remarks. Great store with high-quality items. Some items higher priced but it's for the quality you get. I have 2 jackets and a pair of boots I purchased over 8 years ago that are still in great shape. well, i'm a city girl and getz doesn't come close to any of the stores in Boston or new York. In my opinion they are trying to be a combination dept store and outdoor gear store and it just doesn't work, esp not with the prices they are charging. if you are willing to spend a lot, you will find a good selection of of carhart and life is good products. they also had some brighton purses that were quite nice. for shoes they opt more the comfy types then high fashion which is nice. i liked a few of the dresses, but the prices were just too high. i'd find similar items in the city, maybe even nicer ones and sales would be more plentiful with a bigger selection. read more

I am very unhappy with the customer service that I have received from Getz.com. After much hassle in exchanging sizes, the correct size that I ordered, is damaged. The print looks like it has been folded over on itself and the logo is damaged. I called their customer help line, and the woman who helped me was very dull and offered no help or solutions. This store was amazing! I found it to be Trendy, stylish, with reasonable prices. I was really impressed by the selection and that they had discounts on the brand name items my 20 year old daughter likes (mountain hardware, north face, and seven jeans.) Shopping can be difficult because she has high standards when it comes to the clothing she will wear...but she loved everything in this store and had many different brands and styles of jeans to choose from. She felt it was one of the best department stores she had ever been in! The shoe department has the best selection and quality that I have ever seen anywhere. I also was pleased with the excellent customer service and how approachable and friendly the staff was. Who ever does the buying for this store really knows what their customers want. Great store. Getz's has a large stock of jeans and work wear. I used to wear Levi's but their quality has dropped notably. I wear Carhart now, slacks, shorts and jeans. Getz's has a great selection of Carhart, many models, size and colors. Getz's has good courteous service read more

I've gone to Getz's store a few times, and every time the staff has left a bad taste in my mouth (particularly in the women's clothing/shoe department). I always wrote it off as a fluke, but I have been here enough to know that this is just how they are. This past summer I went in looking for Chacos and had to look for a staff member - note I was one of the only customers in the store at this time. Not usually a big deal, but when I finally found one she acted like I was a bother to her. The last time I went in I made eye contact with 3 employees (including the employee who previously helped me with the Chacos) as I walked through the door and did not get a hello or a how are you doing, they just looked down their noses at me and looked away. It always feels like I'm an outsider in their store. Maybe I don't fit their typical demographic of wealthy Marquette folk, but I still expect to be treated like a person. I have money to spend, too! Even though I'm in desperate need of boots, I passed up their sale. I'd rather deal with the hassle of ordering online (NOT from Getz.com) than deal with their snooty staff. Maybe they should hire some younger, more energetic employees who can relate to the largest generation. read more

Every time I come to Marquette from Chicago I always make a point to stop in and impulse purchase a few things :) I love the selection of outdoor brands (TNF, Mountain Hardware, etc) and while the prices are expensive, they are no different than if you went to REI or some other store looking for the same item. Outstanding selection, prices and SERVICE! Sure you can find more choices in a big city or maybe on-line, but we're talking about a family owned and community operated business hours from a metropolitan area. Most seasonal merchandise is nicely discounted, with comparable choices in other brands. It's a very comfortable atmosphere with knowledgable, courteous service...got that in the mall?? This type of store probably appeals to the experienced buyer more than youngsters, so those of you who enjoy exploring a well designed store with higher quality goods should take the time to look it over. Ignore the youth comments on this one...oh yes, it's also Carhardt heaven, but features many great brands. I live over five hours away and love shopping here! read more

To everyone who took the time to write a review that Getz's is expensive, I hope you do realize that retail prices are set by the manufacture, not by the retailer, they are not negotiable. Go on The North Face's website and you will see the exact same prices on their merchandise. Saying a store is expensive is not a review. Getz's does provide a range of prices, ask an employee for help if you are looking for a certain price range. As a new resident in Marquette, MI I entered this store. On my entry I experienced blatant misconduct and unprofessionalism in the women's section on the second floor. I was watched by a particular female sales individual, and totally ignored when I requested assistance, she even went in the back room and stood there, I saw her and she did not attempt to come back into the store section until I turned to reenter the change room. Keep in mind there were no other individuals in this section in the store, inclusive with customers. After I requested her assistance she after several minutes behind the black curtain exited and assisted a new customer who came from another section of the store. I did complain to the manager and another manager contacted me via telephone. He informed me she informed him she was assisting another customer, at which time I informed him she was lying. After relaying the incident leading to her helping another customer he informed me "she was right she was helping another customer". I informed him that he was condoning this behavior and I would never enter his store and I will post this incident on the Military website and spread the word, and that his phone call to me was insulting and he should not have wasted his time. At first I did not think this was a race thing, however I was informed by residents in Marquette, MI that this incident happened because I was Black, and they knew exactly who I was talking about. read more
