I notified the property manager at the time that I had been charged 2 NSF fees on my account when I have a credit on my account. I was told that this would be handled but after 10 days or so, I contacted them via the Resident Portal and found that I could no longer use it. I could only read what little they put on there, so I reached out again to find out from the leasing agent that the manager was no longer with the company and she then told me that there is NO maintenance personnel at the company now. The leasing agent stated she understood my frustration and that she would get to the bottom of this. I never heard from her again without me reaching out. Then she told me she didn't understand what the problem with my account was and would sent to corporate (PA). Well, I waited and waited and then I was asked to submit my personal banking information to show them that not only did I ever make a payment during this time but to also show them that had I it would have cleared with NO problem. SECU (State Employees Credit Union) provided 4 (FOUR) letters showing that I had never received a NSF on any of my accounts. So as asked, I forwarded them to the Management Company. Crickets.... I contacted the office AGAIN really upset because first, I have been in property management for over 30 years and secondly, I didn't owe them any money so why charge me 2 NSF fees. The answer I got from the leasing agent was that she didn't know how to read the ledger and it appeared that another account had tried to make a payment THAT I DON'T HAVE. They gave me the last 4 digits of the account number which is now different than they one they requested all my information from but refused to look at my bankers information stating that I only have one checking account and then SECU went even further more as to say had I NEVER received a NSF on any of my accounts, EVER. I'm so mad because the Regional Manager would not speak to me on the phone with Burkentine in PA but sent me letter stating it was now my BANKS faught. NO, NO, please.... These folks are so ignorate that they then gave me a banking account that is not mine stating that it was used. Stay FAR, FAR away from this company. I have only been there for 3 months and I still have no resolution. My bank stated they had never heard of such crazy mess. I am putting all my information on every platform I can, because had I been the Regional Manager, it would have been handled. But this company is only after one thing, $$$$$. By the way, Tanya Franklin is the Regional or was on January 8th, but needless to say she is worthless. I am still awaiting an apology and if anything a response but she's worthless, they have no staff at the Leland, NC property so good luck if you choose to deal with these criminals.

They make promise after promise with regard to maintaining their properties with absolutely no follow-through. They charge an outlandish HOA fee providing the legal minimum in return, and will charge huge assessment fees whenever they need to collect more money--I can only assume--because they failed to manage their business expenses appropriately in the recent past. If you reading this review in consideration of living on one of their properties, be warned, you will NOT be happy.

Management told us this was just an inconvenience and that we should fill cooking pots with water from the utility sink in the laundry room for our toilet tank each time we needed to use it and we'd be fine... We ended up in a hotel and had to fight to get them to cover that bill. They finally did, but found a way to take $202 off of our security deposit for dust when we moved out -- conveniently matching the $202 they covered for the hotel. It's not surprising there were moving trucks at our building every other month with the way they treat their tenants. Avoid this management group, they will nickel and dime you.

But over time, the company has become unprofessional, unresponsive and thieves. The home that I live in doesn't have proper heating and the fireplace is broken. The slum lord, Michael Scovitch, refuses to pay to have the heating system fixed properly or the fireplace. First Capitol, especially Kris and Nicole are very unprofessional. They do not answer phone calls, text messages or return calls because they know they are in the wrong. First Capitol doesn't provide you with any prices for repairs and randomly makes up prices to bill you. The garage remote was misplaced on 12/26/21 and I asked them to replace it and they told me it would cost around $50 but 4 weeks later, there is an invoice on my account for $258.26. I called and texted Nicole and Kristine multiple times requesting that they provide me with copies of receipts and proof that it takes 4 hours to purchase and reprogram a garage remote - it doesn't and they know it doesn't which is why none of them have responded and they continue to ignore my calls and texts. I work hard everyday for my money and First Capitol works hard everyday to lie and screw people over! This is one of the most low down, dirty, scheming and trifling companies I have ever come across. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES TO ANYONE!!! They are corrupt, thieves and liars!
