A guy was singing when I went to use the restrooms lol

While the overall condition and aesthetics of this rest stop were perfectly normal and actually pretty solid for what it is, it has the distinction of being the only rest stop I've ever visited with live music. It was late afternoon, and I was in the last stretch of my drive back to Vancouver from Medford. Biology was insistent that I stop, and I was amused that this guy was singing away in the cold. He sounded really good, but I didn't feel like pausing in my journey. I snapped a pic to commemorate the occasion. :)

We were driving south on I-5 from Salem towards Eugene and needed a quick and convenient stop. This…read morerest area was relatively close to where we were and much easier than exiting the freeway to search for gas stations or other options. We've stopped here many times over the years, and while it's familiar, it wouldn't rank among our favorite rest areas. We've visited quite a few across the country that offer more modern facilities or a better overall experience. That said, this location does have a fairly nice shaded picnic area, which would likely be a pleasant spot during warmer and drier months, even though we typically don't take advantage of those features. On this particular visit, the rest area served its purpose well. The restrooms were accessible, the stop felt straightforward and efficient, and we were able to get in and out without much delay. It was adequate for what we needed at the time, allowing us to get back on the road quickly and continue our drive south.

This rest area is along I-5 north of Eugene, Oregon (so please don't move it, Yelp!). A great spot…read morefor a stretch and it's got quite a bit of greenery around. Completely overcast (when is it not?) so I wasn't concerned about shade as I took a quick nap in the Sprinter van. Restrooms in good condition with picnic tables under the trees, vending machines and a display of travel brochures, what more do you need? My only complaint is that the entrance doesn't have any sort of turn to slow people down as they enter from the highway. [Review 20935 overall - 23 in Oregon - 1919 of 2023.]

Rooms & fixtures have been updated, are clean. Quiet, located near a residential neighborhood, & a Catholic church, away from most noisy truck traffic. Pet friendly room is adjacent to safe area to walk pet. Rooms have newer microwave, mini Fridge, satellite TVs. All rooms non-smoking. Lobby is updated. Friendly & helpful desk staff. Breakfast buffet was adequate: hot food in crockpots. Negatives: The exterior appearance, conditon needs work. A derelict former diner building is adjacent which makes this motel look seriously sketchy. Parking lot & walkways show too many gross cigarette butts tossed by careless guests or staff taking smoke breaks. Walkways could use power washing, trash receptacles should be cleaned or replaced. The adjacent residential neighborhood seems to include some heavy cannabis users, so if the smell of drifting marijuana smoke is a turn off, this could be a problem; however much of Oregon deals with this issue, so not unusual. But if traveling with children, that might be problematic. Despite the negatives, I will stay there again when traveling with my dog & to save $$. For this solo female traveler the property felt safe enough. I didn't detect any obvious drug/criminal activity on the property.

Swapped towels, emptied trash, etc. The one thing they didn't do? Make up the bed. Apparently that's not part of housekeeping here. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and this has never happened before. Overall, it's a nice place. Clean, well-maintained, nice staff. They just don't care about your bed, I guess.

Mckenzie (Sorry Forgot the other Gals Name, blame it on Old Age) at the Front Desk is Professional & Darling! The housekeeper's are Sweet & Hard Working (So Don't Forget To TIP Them), A Special Thanks to the General Mang., for putting us in a Beautiful Fireplace suite with our Pup! Shout Out To The Gentleman who Fixed a problem in the double suite! We have stayed at the Village Greens 4 times since The Fall 2020! So I/We have tried several rooms! All Darling, but a bit different! I stayed in the Fireplace Suite as I Call Them, on my way to OHSU, then in the Dog Rooms on my way to Surgery at OHSU! Back in the FP Rm., and then in the Double Suite! Here are the differences..to me...The FP rooms are newer?? Great Couples rms. with fireplaces, very comfy & spacious, all the rooms are spacious, only difference in the Pet Rm has no FP, but both have Beautiful Patios! Now the double suite is just that, it is the older part of the hotel, cute & quaint, probably my favorite, as I could escape to the other room without Waking the Hubby!(It doesn't have a patio/fp, you overlook gardens/pool area!(please remember this is probably the Original Rooms from the 60's! Kind of like stepping into an Older Cabin! I personally love them! Actually I have Enjoyed them all! Mothers Day Dinner was Amazing & The Staff from the Lounge Great! A Huge Issue with the off site Reservation CCI (DON'T Book Threw Them, BOOK THREW THE HOTEL DIRECTLY) if you don't believe me, read complaints on BBB. Anyways the hotel Resolved The Issue, a Special Thanks to The GM! I luv walking my dog threw the gardens, many times a day! If you have been here & not walked the gardens, you are missing out on Amazing Beauty! So if your looking for a Couples Room go with FP Rms! If you like Quaint & Cottagey the older suites, bring your pets! kspe

We come at this time because it's when the deciduous magnolias are blooming and when the fragrance from the daphnies is intoxicating. The grounds are well-kept and beautiful. The restaurant is nice too. Yummy dishes in a mellow environment with friendly service. We get a nice king room with a fireplace overlooking the garden. It's romantic and I recommended it. It's so nice to slip into a room here with my beloved for a night. We make memories.
