When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by the owners, Gary and Linda, who warmly made us feel welcome. They offered a lot of great local, insider, information about the surrounding terrain, roads, and (few) restaurants. Gary even called the owner of the local bakery (Lion Mountain Bakery) at home that evening to order our sandwiches so that they would be ready for us when we rolled out early the next morning. The Guest House is very well-appointed. We stayed in a 6 person room (3 sets of bunk beds), which was very comfortable. Showers were plentiful and very clean. There is a nice outdoor hot tub for use, although after the long day in the saddle and a late night at the local brewery, we skipped it and opted for more sleep instead. Gary and Linda have really figured out the needs of their guests, which are often road cyclists or mountain bikers. For example, there is a nice large locked room for many bikes, a bike repair stand, chain lube, tools, etc. Also, the homemade breakfast in the morning was really fantastic. Coffee was great (expect that in Oregon), and Linda's homemade granola and smoothies were very good- perfectly suited for our long day on the bikes. I can't recommend this place more highly. Stay here if you're passing through. You won't regret it!

I asked for a non-pet room due to some allergies, she said they don't have any non- pet rooms but clean 'very thoroughly' (but they all say that), and the room was clean. There was a strong bleach odor in the room. Dissipated after a while and I suppose that's more evidence of thorough cleaning, so okay. BUT, there was something very wrong with the sheets. As soon as I laid down, I started itching, which quickly progressed to feeling almost like a sunburn. I do not have particularly sensitive skin and I've never had an issue like this before. I don't know if it was due to bad quality sheets or some sort of chemical-type treatment of them or both, but it was bad. I was ready to go sleep in the car but ended up getting dressed and sleeping on top of the quilt. Husband did not have the same issue but he was in the other bed so maybe it was just my sheets. Otherwise, I'd say this is an adequate place for a one night stay en route somewhere, but I wouldn't stay here again.

The heater fan was so terribly loud I was afraid it was going to short out. It woke me up every 20-30 minutes. I'd turn it down a degree to shut it off. The bed was extremely firm. But hey, it was a bed, the blankets were warm, we were safe and not sleeping in the car while we were stuck!

The meeting place was well described to us and followed up with an email. The shuttle was right on time. Chris was very personable. I loved his knowledge of the area and information he shared with us regarding the bike ride we were about to go on. He also had detailed maps of the 26 mile rides for us and also described some specific areas of the trail. I have been on many shuttles. What I loved most about Chris is that at the end he wanted to make sure everyone was ok and no questions that anyone had were left unanswered. He did not rush off. Thank you!!

You're riding along the Mackenzie river on a single track trail for up to 25 miles. The scenery is amazing. The water is roaring and clear. The trail is very well maintained. I'm glad this business exists and people have an opportunity to explore this terrific landscape. The bad: we showed up and the guy behind the desk was stressed and had a lot of anxiety. It was only us and one other group of two people. We planned on doing the entire trail (25 miles) but were told the top 9 miles is very technical and we should only do the bottom 16 miles. We submitted and said okay. Unfortunately, where we dropped off only allowed for 10 miles of beginner riding. I called when we finished and they said it was a miss-communication on their part and would take us further up. We went further up and did the next 10 miles. There was one mile of pretty technical riding where we had to stop riding and walk a decent amount. The rest of the time was all beginner/intermediate riding. When finished we couldn't call the shop to get picked up because there was no service. We rode along the road until there was service and called and txted the driver 11 times. No answer. We finally called the shop and were informed that "his phone was on the charger." They said he would be here to pick us up in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later I called back and got a lot of attitude from the front desk staff saying "we have other things to do to." Luckily it was an amazing ride. Really hoping they can get their communication and customer service dialed in!

We had such a fun time riding, and would love to come back one day to stay at the campground and check out some of the other trails in the area. Gary was especially careful with our bikes on his rack, had an impeccably clean car (even without considering he hauls around outdoor enthusiasts), and happily showed us important markers and potential hiccups on the trail as he drove us to the trailhead. Alyssa was very responsive and kind on the phone. Overall, I get the impression that they love the land and community around McKenzie River, and are just excited to share that enthusiasm with their guests.

Approximately a week before I booked a room at the Best Western Newberry in La Pine Oregon, I was…read morenotified that my cousin was in ICU in Bend- to say this was shocking would be an understatement. I rushed to Bend to be at her bedside, she was only 51, and sadly she passed three days later. I drove approximately 200 miles home to pick up my husband and son and put together a few things. Also I booked a room with Best Western Newberry because I needed to go back to La Pine for an impromptu funeral for my cousin. Once I checked into the hotel and I had seen the room I was given, I was appalled! I then requested another room, but I was informed there were no available rooms, except for possibly one that wouldn't even be open until Thursday at 2, but I would have to be out by 11, then move again to a another room that would possibly be open on Friday at 2. You can see by the attached photos unsafe exposed ducting, wires, window screen and not mention the dirty moldy stall shower. The air conditioning unit sometimes worked and I did call the front desk to asked for maintenance. I was informed not to adjust the thermostat, there were problems with the unit and it would freeze over. Therefore it was either hot in the room or freezing. I could not even open the window to cool the room off due to window screen being so damaged that insects or whatever could get in and also I was concerned for my family's safety. The Wi-Fi was horrible! Completely unstable, it continuously dropped, I would have to re-login so often that I actually memorize the login and password. The Wi-Fi could not even support my own logged in channels on the TV. I was so fed up. I just used my own data so my son could watch shows and our cell phones could have internet. There were no power sources near the bed whatsoever so charging our phones, etc., was ridiculous. I truly did not feel safe in the room with all the issues, especially the exposed wires. Unfortunately, I felt had no other choice but to stay in the room I was given. I had to be in La Pine. I called the hotel and spoke with the manager after we checked out and got home. The hotel manager stated that the room that I thought I booked was misadvertised on the Best Western Newberry hotel webpage and I was actually booked for ADA room. Shel also stated that I should have expressed more of the issues with the room during my stay and because I did not she could only offer me $100 or $150 gift card towards another stay with best Western Hotels. I respectfully declined. I truly don't understand what difference it would have made for me to express "more of the issues" with the room, also not to mention I would hope that a guest who actually needed a ADA room would not have to accept the accommodations that I was given as their only choice. I would think at the very least some form of courtesy notice from the hotel explaining the condition of the room prior to my stay would have given me a choice to change the room or even upgrade before the hotel was completely booked. I was under complete distress and did not want to cause any other conflict that may have resulted in no place for my family and I to stay for my cousin's funeral. I chose Best Western hotel because I am a Best Western member and for over $700 for 3 nights I could depend on Best Western for decent room during this devastating, heartbreaking tragedy. Unfortunately this was not the case. Please check double check and even reconsider your stay with Best Western Newberry in La Pine Oregon

We stayed in the Lake House cabin which had a beautiful, yet, "at-home" feel to it and is tucked away privately away from everyone else. Its so quiet, and the views of the lake from the living room and master bedroom are epic. I enjoyed sitting inside by the fire and watching outside, it was so peaceful. We ate at the lodge, the food was so yummy. We loved the soups and bread. Perfect after being in the snow. Wes did a phenomenal job serving our table. We also went on a guided snowmobile tour. Candice was our guide and she did fantastic. She made our adventure so much fun!! My cheeks hurt after because I was laughing and smiling so much. We will DEFINITELY be back!!! This Best Western in Cottage Grove consistently provides good services. We've never had any issues. Staff are kind and professional, housekeeping, front desk and breakfast "docent". Room is clean. Good beds, sheets and showers. We stay here routinely, instead of Springfield/Eugene, because of massive hotel price gouging during events. Hot tub and pool are clean. Our only complaint, and it's a serious let down, is that there is no gym. After driving hours, one of us is bouncing off the walls and needs a gym and it's not me. Could you all install a gym? Asking for a friend.
