My GP was dismissive and just told me that's what happens in midlife. Any treatment would occur only if I was obese. I have a family history of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension so I was trying to be proactive, addressing issues before they turn into something serious. Sandra took my concerns seriously. She has a women's health background and with her help I have worked with my OBGYN on getting appropriate HRT on board. I've been able to stop some other medications I was taking, and I've lost 15 pounds. Yes, she is expensive and she requires a time commitment. I think people value what they pay for and if I could just see her instead of my GP I would. I highly recommend her services.

Well, you eat basically 6 meals a day, around 2.5 hours between meals. 4 of the meals are the packaged Medifast products, the other 2 are lean-and-greens. I was able to loss roughly 6 lbs the first week, 4 lbs the 2nd week, and it's going down down! The Cuppacino mix, was yuck, and I was about to give them lesser stars over it, but after talking to them, they are replacing the Cuppacino with another box that I like! Yeah! The Snack bars are really tasty! This really helps those that just do not have the time to figure it out. Oh, and be careful, you can have another box ordered automatically, you may have to let them know you may not want this, since I have a strict budget and cannot have automatic stuff coming to me. I have absolutely no reason to lie about my experience with them . I believe my consistency speaks for itself and shows I am being honest. Most businesses either don't respond or ask how they can improve. Not address it by implying the person a liar. Oh and by the way, I recently went to another Nutritionist and learned so much more in 1 hour with her than I did in the 7 or so visits with Cathy. AND they took care of billing my insurance. Update: 5/28/15 I received a letter from a lawyer shortly after this last review demanding I remove my review within a certain amount of days or she (Cathy) would pursue a claim against me because of my false and defamatory statements. I supposedly posted opinions which I claimed to be facts. So even though I thought Yelp was a place to post my opinions about a review, I agreed to remove anything that was an "opinion". Which I have now done. I also received an email from Cathy...I wish I could post a copy here. It was not a very nice email. The most laughable part of it is that she tried to tell me the "correct" way to post a review. Apparently, I have to also say something positive about the place I am reviewing.

I worked with Brandi on my diet and health for the past year, through multiple medical issues…read more(anemia, CPAP, parathyroidism, POTS) and changes (increasing vegetables and carbs, eating more snacks, and starting to eat meat after ~15 years of being vegetarian). With her help and guidance, I went from a long history of poor self-care (skipping meals, drinking a 2-liter of Diet Coke every day, only cooking frozen stuff) to planning and preparing healthy well-balanced meals for me and my family. Compared when I started working with her a year ago, I have been (and currently am) eating more food, better food, and eating more frequently, too. And I think that it's a sustainable change, too. I really appreciated her insight, guidance, and support/encouragement. She was always evidence-based (pointing me at relevant books and resources), and she also struck the right balance when holding me accountable for the things I said I was going to do. (Side note: there is a review referencing religion but Brandi never even mentioned her religion in the 19 appointments I had with her. My religion/beliefs only came up when directly relevant to my diet [vegetarianism vs eating meat] and she handled it very respectfully.)

One the one hand her approach was too open-ended "what do you want to do today?" when the reason I consulted with a professional was because I didn't know exactly what to do to help myself. On the other hand, when she did offer tools they were limited and fairly rigid - things that may have worked for some people but it felt a bit like a one-size-fits-all approach. Her assumptions about peoples' communities and families also did not reflect my reality and felt a bit alienating. She didn't have tools or skills to help me on my journey. I can see how she could be a good fit for other people - maybe mainstream Christian folks with traditional eating disorders - but not for me. I also found the Creating Peace with Food intake to be unnecessarily long. It took me literally hours and yet she didn't seem to reference it at all during our work together. I ended up working with another dietition remotely and in our first appointment was so impressed in comparison! The person I ended up with (Michelle Allison) was extremely professional, prepared, experienced, and used evidence based tools and measures to help gauge our progress together. She instantly identified a lot of my underlying challenges and helped allay some of biggest fears by providing information from her extensive medical experience. She was instantly able to offer me flexible, concrete tools (informed by HAES and Satter) to work towards my goals. If Creating Peace with food doesn't work for you I highly recommend working remotely with Michelle Allison.

Out of all…read moreof the dietitians I've seen, including the "top" dietitians in an eating disorder treatment center, Kathleen is by far the best. She takes a holistic approach by using her dietetics expertise in combination with her knowledge of counseling and coaching to help address my eating behaviors AND the roots of my behaviors. She understood that my eating behaviors and thoughts towards food stem from deeper issues and thus provides me with more than just a meal plan. I also like the way Kathleen helped me with my meal plan. She added to what I was already eating instead of starting me on a completely different plan. It felt more comfortable and attainable. She has the perfect balance of pushing me to step out of my comfort zone in order to be healthy, while also being patient and understanding of my issues and fears. Kathleen is willing to work with an individual's doctor, therapist, and/or psychiatrist to help provide the best treatment possible. This is extremely helpful! Additionally, her office is comfortable and inviting, communication and making appointments is very easy, and I have never had any issues with insurance or billing. I highly recommend Kathleen for any individual seeking nutritional counseling, with or without an eating disorder. She is great at what she does and is a joy to be around. She also does phone consultations!
