Get Better Hoops, is by far the best program in Southern California. I'm active duty military and that requires me to move my family around every 3-5 years. I've lived in Chicago, New Jersey, Seattle, and Virginia within the last 10 years. Every place I've lived I searched for a basketball program to put my son into to help him develop with his skillset. I have to say I wasn't impressed with any of them. After moving to San Diego in October of 2018, I discovered Get Better Hoops Academy. This is a program that provides the absolute best basketball training I've ever seen. One of the Best If Not The Best Basketball Programs In San Diego. We've Been With Coach JoJo And Get Better For 18 Months. We Came To Get Better With No Knowledge Of The Game Of Basketball. My Son Was 10 Years Old At The Time He Told Me He Wanted To Play Basketball. We Started With A Different Program That Had Around 100 Kids. Since We Were Beginners, None Of The Parent Coaches Was Correcting My Sons Mistakes. He Was Traveling, Double Dribbling, Etc. Then I Found Coach JoJo And The Get Better Program. We Attended Group Sessions And Private Lessons. Not Only Has Coach JoJo Taught My Son The Game Of Basketball, He Has Built Up His Confidence And Instilled In His Mind That Anything Is Possible With Hard Work And Dedication! My son played two seasons at Get Better, and unfortunately, both experiences were disappointing. The program was consistently unorganized, and simple questions were often met with defensiveness. On several occasions, actual coaches did not attend games, leaving players with unfamiliar adults or even other kids acting as stand-ins. When I asked about this, Joel and Lawrence responded harshly rather than addressing the concern. Unless a child is already playing at an elite level, it seems unlikely they will receive much attention or support. Overall, the program came across as more focused on profit than on player development or respect for the kids. Get Better Hoops Academy is an amazing sports training Organization! My two sons have been very fortunate to train with Coach Joel "JoJo" Jones for the past Year. The improvements and results in their performance have been exceptionally beneficial for them and their teams. You want your child to Get Better than take them to Get Better Hoops academy. I've seen so many kids progress and become ballers that I decided to take my son there. In the 2 months he's been going he's doing things that I never thought he would do. Shooting, dribbling and all the fundamentals are taught by Coach JoJo and Coach Dom. And they teach the right way, they keep it positive but they also challenge the kids to get better. Great program to put your child in. Teaches all levels of basketball. Your player will develop both physically and mentally in the sport. Coaches are awesome. They emphasize the importance of balance between school and sport (which I love!) so that we have successful student athletes. We've seen so much growth in our son's basketball skills and self confidence. We appreciate the coaching staff, the life lessons, and family values of the program. We also love their dedication. I've been around different basketball programs for years but Getbetterhoops is the real deal!! I bragg every chance I get. My son has improved so much just within a year.
