Playground has been moved to the edge of the bird sanctuary -- apparently in the belief bringing closer the hollering and jumping six-year-olds will attract the birds to return. The playground was moved to a formerly grassy overlook of the bird sanctuary, and the grass was bulldozed under concrete walks and large spongy carpets (permanent) of blue-green, close shaven astro-turf (honest, come look for yourself). There were no birds today, but perhaps they haven't read the new sign or learned to appreciate six-year-olds on astro-turf. When you come to check-out our renewed and improved bird sanctuary, please bring a bird with you.

The "preschool area" (for ages two through five) includes a sand and water play feature, spinning bowls, kid-sized sitting ducks as well as Clapper Rail and Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse nests that echo the importance of the neighboring marshland and its wild residents, swings, a tricycle track, and shade structures. The elementary area (for ages five through twelve) includes a sand and water play feature that's representative of a creek, a 17-foot climbing net, an 8-foot climbing wall, and a turbo slide with a mini-overlook. There is a large a remodeled bathroom, several new benches and picnic tables scattered throughout, a redesigned amphitheater, a new overlook that offers stunning views of Corte Madera Creek and Creekside Marsh as well as an outstanding view of Mt. Tamalpais. In addition to these facilities, the heart of the park is the playground. Honoring the local community's wishes for a modern, interactive, and engaging place to play, parents and children will discover a park with something for all ages and a place that pays tribute to the surrounding environment, both natural and built. The picnic tables, benches, playground areas, pathway, restroom, and overlook are accessible. Dogs are allowed on leash and must not enter wetland areas because of sensitive habitat and wildlife species.

Now my son is 15, but we still go together with our 2 dogs. I appreciate the doggie bags, but have always wished there was a bathroom there, it seems to be the only thing that caps our time. We have even hosted many BBQs and Bday parties at Kay Park. It's completely fenced in so even the fastest runners can go off leash here!!

If you drive there and park on the road, just look for what looks like a small pathway or paved little alley between two houses --- that's the entrance. No bathrooms... not even sure if there's a water fountain... (can't recall and don't live there any more)... but just the sweetest little spot to take small children! There are two separate fenced play spaces and one large grassy lawn. One play area is for toddlers, the other for older children. You are unlikely to encounter playmates at this park, so bring a friend! What you will find is shade on a summer's day and a spot where (if you have a dog as well as children) you can bring the whole family.

This park is in a quiet residential neighborhood on Oleander Drive. It almost feels like a private…read moreneighborhood park, but has signage that lets you know everyone is welcome. It is a small park with limited resources but everything it has, it does well. There is a nice grassy field in the middle, with a path going partway around it. This field would be good for playing impromptu sports, even though it's not fully level. There is a nice playground and swingset for kids, including one of my favorite kids toys I've seen, which is a digging machine that kids can sit on and dig up the sand. Very fun! The best part about this park is that there is a picnic table and it comes with a barbecue grill! Without the grill I would say this park is nothing special (especially since there's only one picnic table), but the grill just raised the property value. Of course, if it's in use then you're out of luck. When I came to this park, there were people sitting at the picnic table, clearly holding it for a party they were planning on having later that day. So it seems like if you want to plan a barbecue here, you better be ready to stake your claim on the picnic table before someone else does!

It's not just for kids here, as there are often people sitting or lying amongst the redwoods... reading, listening to the creek, or even forest bathing. I've done this and let hours slip away while I just zenned out here. It's also in a fantastic location- right next to the MV Library and the Friends of the Library Bookstore. It is a smaller park, and it's a very peaceful place. Come and enjoy, and please leave no trace. =)

There is a nice Mosaic of tiles with kids hand prints and names.( I wish I knew more about this but I am new to the area) There are 2 children's swings. A couple of little(sit in and move it with your feet kind) cars and plastic toy see-saws. I do not know what this is called but, it has 4 tall polls and a rope like net is hung between for the kids to climb like monkeys! The play area has 2 slides, 1 tunnel slide, 2 steering wheels, a mini rock wall, and a swirl pole to slide down. A picnic table and a couple of benches are available for seating. This place is not as big as the park in Fairfax and in a sense I like it better. It is less crowded and seems to be more intended for small children. Most of the 'caretakers' are mothers or fathers and not a nanny who sits on a bench while the kids raise hell.

And you can have the place mostly to yourself - if you have a dog who isn't well socialized that might be very important. A designated trail snakes near the main road if you want to get in some steps. Rinks was pestering me about going to Sausalito - I dont know what it is with the ladies and that town. Over priced ice cream? Too bad... this is all you get for today. All the best children's books have scary and threatening undertones... plus the inmates shouldn't be the only ones to enjoy the views.

This is a cute little park in Corte Madera that boasts the Piccolo Pavilion…read more While the park isn't very large, it does have quite a bit of seating, some of which is hidden up the hill behind some shrubbery. The Piccolo Pavilion itself it rather spacious and has its own built in benches. If you sit facing the hills its a quite relaxing and airy view. Because there are some cute smaller shops next door, it's a nice area to park and relax before or after shopping. No unleashed dogs or glass containers are allowed, but the parking is free.
