Amazing park great place for kids and field for soccer and other sports but the cool areas are the fire roads and the trails to walk on.

To be honest, the historic "houses" are just a collection of dilapidated farm buildings scattered near the visitor center. The worst part is that none of them are open to the public, meaning you can only look at the exteriors (which don't look all that different from other old farmhouses visible near the freeway). Meanwhile, the Miwok village consists of just three small, clearly replica kotca. Paying an $8 parking/entry fee feels like a ripoff for what is offered. If you are looking for actual history, I'd recommend heading to the nearby Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park instead. Though smaller in size, that site is much better preserved, deeply interesting, and actually allows you to walk inside and tour the building. Also, the visitor center is actually closed, the sign says it is open "on most fri/sat/sun", so you probably need some luck to see it open.
