This pile of wings is legendary.

I still love stopping here. Can beat this old school tavern. They have some really good beers on tap. Good service and the platter of wings is always my go to. I like the fried crispy skin and the buffalo sauce is perfect.

If you want food quickly, I'd advise against it. I was there around noon and a patron who came in after us was quoted an hour for a to-go order of the wings. Speaking of wings...these are indeed in the top two of wings I've had in the Des Moines metro. Crispy without having to ask and the sauce--which uses Frank's Red Hot as a base provides heat, but not in an obnoxious manner. I also had the cauliflower...seemed to be closer to battered versus breaded. On a plus note, you get a bottle of ranch at the table--no tiny cups and upcharges for more. The bartender serving us was very polite but very harried--it seemed with all the kitchen orders, a food runner was needed.

Gerri's did not disappoint. Amazing wings. They had a nice crispness to it. Just enough sauce. We really did not need the basket of fries we decided to share between the two of us. But they were cooked perfectly. So delicious. Nice dive bar feel. The bartender was very friendly and chatted with us as it was just after the lunch rush when we arrived.

    Only half the order

Grabbed wing platter to go. While waiting enjoyed a cold beer. The bartender was friendly and efficient. After drive home the wings were still piping hot. Upon trying them the wings were fantastic. Sauce was not too hot but had just enough heat.

Giving this place a 5-star rating for one reason: THE WINGS!!!! If you're looking for wings in Des Moines, this is the place. They only serve them one way: bone in, buffalo sauce, and on a tray of 30. If you're ready for your fill of wings, make no mistake. This place is for you.

    Wings. Best in Des Moines

Great wings and the service was impeccable! We went with a large group and she was able to keep track of everyone's order.

Some of the best food and drinks you can get on the Eastside! Service was amazing and they do it with 2-3 girls max. Highly recommend

Environment was noisy, with only a few inches between tables. Bacon-wrapped scallops were grilled to perfection, but could have used some seasoning. My wife said her French onion soup was too salty. The hashbrowns were a joke -- unseasoned mashed potatoes in a mold that was browned on top. No hashbrown texture at all. My wife's sirloin steak was quite good. However, my $56 dry-aged 12-oz ribeye was a disappointment. I expected a melt-in-your-mouth experience. What I got was a somewhat dry piece of meat with very little marbling, but with a chunk of fat in the middle. Both steaks were poorly seasoned. Steaks should be prepared with a ample amount of salt and pepper. Adding it after the fact isn't the same.

If you come to this Mullets location when there are activities at either the Fieldhouse or the diamonds/soccer fields, expect parking to be a nightmare. Norwalk just hasn't made enough parking spots for the complex as a whole and unfortunately, that has to be hard on these businesses. If you cannot find a spot, how are you supposed to come enjoy. When you do find a day that has ample parking, the interior is really spacious and can accommodate many. We've had friendly service with good attention both times I've been. If you are a "fancy" coffee drinker and that's what you're wanting, you won't find it here. They'll serve you a black coffee with some creamer and sugar options. I'm not a lover of their water cups. They are metal and so very cold to handle. They also sweat quickly so are very drippy. My husband loves them. To each their own. The breakfast food has been good both times. I got the Seafood Hash the first time and questioned it having cheese but figured they know what they're doing. It was yummy all together. I couldn't finish it all and it reheated well at home. The second time I had the Cinnamon Roll pancakes meal. Those pancakes were delicious! I took two of them home and they also reheated well. Mullets is a solid addition to Norwalk for breakfast.

It was easy to find right next to the Norwalk Fieldhouse and ball fields. There's a large lot so parking isn't an issue. We arrived at about 430 PM and were greeted right away as we walked in. Party of two. We were shown to a table in the front dining area. Seating is a combination of booths, low top tables and chairs, and a bar area with the standard bar seating we all know and love. The location is a pretty big space divided into basically four areas. A smaller front dining area by the host/hostess station, a larger mid dining area, the rear section is the bar area. The restrooms are in a small hallway to the Left of the bar. There's an arcade at the end of that hallway. Tillman (our server) popped over a minute or so after we were seated. He handed us menus and took our drink orders. We ordered two fountain drinks, a catfish po'boy with cheese curds, and a gringo burger with cheese curds. The sandwiches normally come with fries and there is an upcharge for other side options. The food was ready after a short wait. Tillman kept our drinks full. He pointed us to the arcade so we could go check it out before our food arrived. Everything was hot and fresh off the grill and out of the fryer! Tasted fantastic! The catfish po'boy reminded me a lot of the one I used to get at Wobbly Boots. Next time I'll ask if adding bacon is an option... Lol Tillman checked on us a few times to make sure everything was okay. Everyone we ran across was friendly and at least said hello. One of the managers checked on us about 2/3 of the way through our meal. It's standard table service. Ordering and payment were done through our server at the table. They take cash or cards. Our total came to $39 and change before tip. Being relatively new the place looks clean and while they weren't too busy multiple staff members were wiping down surfaces and preparing for their dinner crowd. A great first experience with Mullet's - Norwalk! And Tillman, from start to finish, was a big part of that...!
