I am impressed with this restaurant. It is in Wellton, which is quite out of the way for most people, but it is worth making it an end destination. We were given complimentary chips and salsa, which was nice. The chips were very crisp and the salsa had enough of a bite to make my eyes water a little yet the flavor still came through. I ordered a margarita after finding out that their mixer did not contain high fructose corn syrup. It was tart and sweet. My husband ordered an iced tea, which came in a large glass with a huge slice of lemon. I ordered the carne asada fries, which came with real cheese, plenty of flavorful asada, a large dollop of guacamole, sour cream and Pico. I have no complaints except I think next time I would ask to have the fries cooked longer. My husband ordered the lunch special for $9.00 that came with a cheese enchilada and a shredded beef taco. The shredded beef was a little bland, and the cheese enchilada was a bit hard and flat, but overall, with salsa added, it tasted authentic. The asada fries are definitely worth coming in for. I'm looking forward to coming back to try other items on the menu. Also, the servers were awesome!! No problem with prompt service. And the restaurant is nicely decorated and comfortable. read more

Arriving from San Diego on my motorcycle in the early evening, I was famished and looking for some decent food in Wellton. The owner of The Desert Hotel recommended Geronimo's, which was about a block away. However, because of the Daylight Savings Time change in CA, I walked in at closing time - oh no! I needn't have worried - the staff, though cleaning up for the night, greeted me warmly and served me a nice taco plate, excellent salsa and a couple of "Negro Modelo" beers, all for a very fair price. I definitely recommend this nice restaurant , an oasis in the desert! Super cool people - give 'em your business! read more

About 15 table restaurant where we were told to sit wherever we wanted. Our menus were brought and drink orders taken immediately. We were drinking soda which was served with a can and a glass of ice. No fountain drinks. The thick and crispy chips were brought with the drinks. I really liked the salsa, my wife no so much. The fajitas were brought to the table in a sizzling skillet with a good amount of green, red, yellow peppers, some onion and the chicken was rather bland. The 2 flour tortillas were large and fragile when I tried to pile some goodies into them. The tamales are made in house and are not exceptional but still good. The refried beans are homemade too. Since we are staying in the area, we'll definitely eat here again and try some of the other menu item. Fast friendly service with food that'll fill yer belly. read more

Went here 1 time and won't be back. Their salsa is liquid, no onions, no tomatoes and no cilantro. I asked for mild salsa, which took 20 minutes to arrive. They brought me tomato sauce with seasoning in it. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.. We ordered the burrito and that's all you got, a gross plain cold burrito sitting on a plate that had no sauce, no cheese and fixings over the burrito. There was no refried beans and no rice. The lady at the table behind us ordered cheese with here dry burrito, which they forgot, so they brought her cold shredded cheese out for her. The atmosphere is clean and decent. Staff is nice. Having come from Southern California, I was spoiled with my Mexican food choices. Since coming to Arizona, where I thought the Mexican food would be stellar, I've been disappointed. This place has "ok" food. Nothing I'd crave to go back and have. Their margaritas were even bland. Worst food, high prices, gouging, Salsa was too hot for our tastes, asked if they had a milder salsa, a much smaller bowl was brought out and when we got the bill they had charged us 2 dollars for the salsa! Wife ordered a taco salad, it was served in a very stale Taco shell, possibly 2 to 3 days old! I ordered a Chicken Tostada the tortilla was the only thing I can say was good, the shredded chicken was flat, but there was an ample amount, but not enjoyable, because it had no base or filler, UG! I hate giving them a good rating cause I don't want to share this place with others. I haven't been back yet this season, but we're going soon. Based on past experience, the only downside is sometimes the service is slow. We and our friends haven't had anything we haven't enjoyed. When they closed we were saddened for two reasons ...the owner/cook had died from Covid (May he Rest In Peace) and it didn't appear it would reopen. I really wanted to like this place. I know there has been tragedy in the family. My husband asked for a chicken and shrimp fajita but got a shrimp and beef fajita. The beef was so tough and rubbery he could not eat it. He just took the beef out and ate the shrimp. Maybe a little prep of marinating the meat might help it out. I had the chicken tostatas and the chicken was bland ,no seasoning, and I think it was either boiled and shredded or cooked in the microwave No salt or pepper. How about a grilled piece of chicken chopped up and seasoned? It is mind boggling that the food was not seasoned with Mexican spices. read more

Geronimo's Restaurant is excellent. Some of the best Mexican food in the Yuma/Foothills/Wellton area. It is a staple of the town of Wellton and we are glad they are here. Delicious authentic Mexican food! I stopped in for lunch on my way to San Diego, it's not far off of I-8 west. They had great lunch specials, full meal plates with rice and beans for only $6.99 and runs until 3pm daily. They also gave a full menu option which is where I found the fish tacos! Mmmm, they were so good and sooo filling! The server was lovely and offered me many different options and was so accommodating. The atmosphere is appealing as well, comforting color schemes and really cool historic photos on the walls. Visiting from Alaska, we were looking for some great Mexican food - and we found it! House made salsa was perfect - not watery, and hot enough, but not mouth-on-fire hot. Portions were large and reasonably priced. My chimichangas were delicious, topped a very tasty red sauce. My husband had the Machatta (I'm probably butchering that) and it also was delicious. Very friendly service, and family owned and operated since the 80's. The manager, who has returned to his hometown to take over after his brother's recent death, was extremely friendly, and we had a great conversation after our meal. Found out a lot about the Yuma area, and suggestions for things to do the next time - and Geronimo's will be at the top of our to-do list! read more
