I started researching, and found that there's a substantial septic tank pumping rebate available via the James River Basin Partnership; Battlefield Septic Tank Service was a local pumping company that was eligible for the rebate, so I called them up. Their receptionist is extremely knowledgeable and friendly! She asked all the relevant questions regarding the history of the tank, age of home, number of residents, if we were new to septic, and if we knew some basic care items for septic owners. She was able to get me on the schedule within a few days. Ted and an assistant showed up right on time for the appointment and quickly reviewed the area. They noticed (and showed me) that the septic tank cover didn't have any screws in it! They mentioned that this is quite dangerous, especially with kids around. They had packs of septic tank screw sets in their truck, and happily gave me a set for free, and bolted down the tank when they were complete. As far as the pumping, they gave me a full status report of the tank, some estimates for how frequently it should be pumped, and an extra reminder not to flush disposable wipes, etc down the toilet. They did a great job cleaning up the site and leaving it as good as new. I highly recommend Battlefield Septic!

On the following Tuesday, after my call, he mumbled something about people that called and contractors that were demanding. He said he would be out first of the following week. I asked why he didn't at least call. He promised he would be there at which point I said, "Please call me on Friday so I can make plans. He agreed. Here we are two weeks later with no work and no call. I can only assume he doesn't want my business. A phone call or text takes a couple of minutes. Run and call someone that needs the business!
