Honest Mechanic was my 2nd opinion, although I did not mention to them what the initial shop had recommended. Jeff was my primary contact and he listened intently to my description of the issue. After assessing the car he determined that it was the alternator (which was my initial guess) and he also recommended the serpentine belt be replaced. They ended up keeping the vehicle almost an entire week (due to various issues such as awaiting parts, exchanging defective refurbished parts, etc.). However, Jeff checked in with me everyday to keep me updated. Also, I had initially told him that time was not a major concern for me so this certainly not a complaint. It has been two weeks and my car, at 185k miles, is running well. I have not had any recurrence of the issues that I was initially having. I definitely recommend this shop and would return for future automotive needs.

I started going to Steve just because I needed my car inspected. After that breif interaction with Steve I knew he was a mechanic that was on the up and up. It's a small shop with just two spots to work on cars. Steve is the owner and his son is also a mechanic that works at the shop with him. He can get pretty busy so I like to make a appointment before driving to Kannapolis from Charlotte, I suggest you do the same. For some reason I have terrible luck with cars, all I wanna do is get the oil changed and put gas in it. Anything above those two things I'm a topical girl and know nothing about it. The first car that Steve worked on was a 1995 Nissan Sentra (still running might I add), from oil changes to brake replacements he did it all. Always at very reasonable prices telling me exactly what I was paying for and how much the parts were. After what I thouhgt was a up grade to a 2010 Chevy Malibu Steve continued to work on that. Unfortunately that car had MORE then a few problems! Steve did fix a few things on it, but he finally said enough is enough telling me I shouldn't keep putting money in that car. Now I've got a 2012 Chevy Sonic and I trust Steve to work on that too. Everyone needs a trustworthy mechanic, Steve is definitely that!

I took my van here for an oil change and tire rotation because it was convenient to work. Never…read moreagain have our oil changed every 3000 miles, and the tires rotated every 6000 miles. When I picked up the van, I was told they had to order a lug nut, but they couldn't get one back on. They told me to come back the next day, and they would fix it. When I got home, my husband looked, and the wheel stud was bent, which is why the lug nut wouldn't go on, and oil was spilled all down the side of the motor. When my husband called and spoke to Mr. Pinkston, he was told the lug nut was rusted, and that's why the stud was bent, and that he was sorry, but this is the world we live in. I will never settle for convenience again I will stay with our trusted mechanics at Woodies in Mint Hill for my 2013 van and schedule service ahead of time. John was super easy to work with and puts a good face forward, he never lost track of me while handling a steady flow of incoming calls and he was cheerful when I dropped off at 7:30am a couple days later. no grumps, no excuses... yea! so off I went, down the street to get some breakfast. got a call after a bit saying they couldn't complete the work because the inner tie rods and lower ball joints need attention. which sounds mostly reasonable since the ball joints are the only things that haven't been replaced in the last ten years. no pressure, just let them know if/when it gets done... so I get to do some front end work over the weekend and we'll have another go at this :-\ so all that happened today was an oil change. completely not their fault they couldn't get to the rest of it... turns out the tie rod ends are okay but the ball joints are bad enough for two or three additional parts. seriously, close to 1/4" of slop in those things, amazing that they didn't come apart on their own just sitting there... so the little white truck is back together and I can afford to have the alignment done! everyone wins!!

I don't normally write reviews like this because I understand that mistakes happen. But I would…read morehave appreciated honesty instead of the way I was treated and misled. I brought my truck in for a routine alignment. After the service was completed, I was told they couldn't recalibrate my truck, possibly because it was "too hot" and needed to cool down. They handed me the keys and told me to take it to the dealer. As it turns out, the actuator had to be replaced. Fortunately, my truck is still under warranty; otherwise, this would have been a $3,500 repair. I truly regret taking my truck here. "Honest" appears to be in the name only. I will also be following up with Costco about having them removed from its approved service shop list.
