I don't write reviews like this lightly, but German Autoworks deserves one--and Luca specifically deserves to be recognized by name.
I own a 2017 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet. It's a twin-turbo V12, it's modified, and it's the kind of car where I am extremely particular about who I allow to work on it. There is a huge difference between a shop that knows how to replace parts and someone who actually takes the time to understand the car, the owner, and what you're trying to accomplish.
Luca is that difference.
Before the car was even in his hands, I was sending him questions, changing my mind about parts, discussing downpipes, exhaust options, spark plugs, tuning and how I wanted the car to behave when everything was finished. Instead of brushing me off or giving me the standard "bring it in and we'll see" response, Luca actually did the homework.
He researched my exact S65 Coupe/Cabriolet platform, found an exhaust system specifically compatible with the A217/C217 V12, explained exactly why it would work with my downpipes, what was included, how the electronic valves operated, and even looked into the appropriate spark-plug setup for a tuned M279 V12.
Then I decided I didn't want to spend the money on the full exhaust system yet.
There was no sales pressure. No attempt to talk me back into the more expensive option. We simply changed the plan and moved forward with what made sense for me.
That alone tells you something about someone's integrity.
But what impressed me most was something much simpler.
I asked Luca if he would personally drive my car after the work was completed--not around the block, but enough to actually pay attention to the car and determine whether there was any hesitation, bogging, or other performance issue that might not show up sitting in a service bay.
His answer was essentially: absolutely.
"Thanks for trusting me with the car."
That sentence says a lot.
Anyone who owns a special car knows how difficult it can be to find somebody you trust with it. With Luca, I wasn't dealing with someone trying to get the car in, get the invoice paid and move on to the next job. I felt like I had somebody on the other side who was genuinely interested in getting the car RIGHT.
German Autoworks has earned my business, but Luca has earned my trust.
There are plenty of shops that can work on German cars. Finding someone who combines technical knowledge, communication, research, common sense, enthusiasm and genuine respect for the customer's car is considerably harder.
If you own a Mercedes, AMG, or another German performance car and you're particular about who touches it, call German Autoworks.
And ask for Luca.
He's the kind of person a good shop should be proud to have representing its name--and the kind of person you remember when it's time to hand someone the keys again. read more
