Chuck, Arnie & Reynaldo... along with other employees & staff make for a WONDERFUL TEAM in my humble opinion. My check engine light came on. My normal mechanic was out of pocket, I'm sure due to COVID-19, the Lord ordered my steps and I made it to German Auto Repair. I guess this will be my "new normal" (when I have to have repairs made that is ) I called the shop, Chuck answered the call, he addressed my concerns & provide all the information I needed to make an informed decision regarding upcoming repairs. I called back and spoke with Arnie about 10 minutes later after I altered my plans for the next day to include drop-off of my vehicle. I pulled up the next day, today, May 20th, at 7:20a for repairs. Reynaldo greeted me and fielded my issues regarding my car. He did a thorough intake and advised he would clue Chuck in when he arrived. The turn-around time was great; I don't like being without my car!!! I got a B service & another repair all by 3p!!! Boy I was excited. And happy to be back rolling. You have the option of having your diagnostic fee applied to repairs should you have them done at the repair shop. Chuck was thorough in detailing the problems with my vehicle and the associated costs. HELLO this is how vehicle repairs should be!!!!! I found cost to be in-line with other foreign vehicle repair shops. Only downfall for me, but not really a downfall, is the location. It's on the Westbank, which proves a little difficult for me to get dropped off or picked up; BUT NEXT TIME, I'll just cross the street & catch a couple movies until my vehicle is done!!! I am saving the shop's information for future repairs and if others need MB, BMW or other foreign car vehicle repairs, I'll be sure to let them know about German Auto Repair. read more

I went in a couple years ago to get my brake pads replaced. They let me know that I wanted too long and needed all new brakes, rotors etc. It was pretty expensive. A year and a half later, my brakes started squeaking. I got 3 different quotes, and they all said the same thing "Your brakes were never replaced, they just changed the brake pads." How disappointing that they took advantage of a young lady and put me in danger by not replacing the brakes. I would NEVER recommend and will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. read more

PART 2 After picking up my car for battery draining and a 180.00 Diagnostic charge. That they told me that I would have to take it back to the dealership to update codes. I took my car back to auto zone to replace the battery I bought just before I dropped it off to German Auto Repair. The lady said we don't carry this brand of battery. I asked her to look up my purchase on the computer. It showed that I purchased a duralast battery. The brand that I took out of my car was an off brand. The only way that that battery could be different was that German Auto Repair took my duralast battery out of my car and put an off brand battery in its place. I found an interior light on but not lighting up, at this point the battery has not brained again. German Auto Repair diagnostics charge 180.00, pushing a button to turn off a interior light........... priceless To put a button read more

I really didn't want to write this review because I've been receiving services here for 5+ years.... But this is just unacceptable... I brought my truck in for a Service B (469.99$) Before the service was preformed I received a call saying I needed 2 filters & a flush (299.98$) + (269.99$) =$569.97 with tax 1135.64$ .... I agreed... I was also informed that I would need rear brakes (889.99$) which I refused When I picked up my truck it still sounded bad and the check engine light was on.... I called and asked why after paying 1200$ is the check engine lights still on? I was told Oh because you didn't ask or pay for a diagnostic on the truck... EXCUSE ME.... So you can call to up charge me on filters & breaks but not the check engine light? WHY WOULD YOU NOT DO a diagnostic on the vehicle or ask about that 1st? Especially if the diagnostic is the same price as one of the filters? I was told oh we don't do things to cars we aren't authorized to do..... well DUH but in this economy why not handle the important stuff 1st Disgusting and disappointing gave scammers vibes read more

I was overcharged for an oil change and brakes on my BMW. The price conflict was mainly for the oil change. I was quoted a price of $200 for the oil change and inspection. When I went to pay the price was $400.00. No explanation at all for the increase for this service. BMW charges $100. My first and last visit to this place. read more

i went got my BMW fixed and drove it for a week and it broke again so I brought it back to them and they did the job free NO CHARGE man I wish all mechanic shops were this considerate of the customers. Thanks to the whole German Auto team, they're really men of their words read more

$180 to clear a check engine light that they told me was a false read... AutoZone will read & clear codes for free. Ladies especially, just go to the dealership. read more

1. no itemized invoice. 2. Took everything loose in the rear of s.u.v. and did not put anything back together, left all parts scattered. 3, Charged $700 to order part. Was actually charged $680.04 for an identical part that sells for under 200.00 0n line. Charged $165.00 an hour for labor. Total labor cost $1237.50. All total $1917.50 to change a condenser. Stated I should changed main an aux. battery which would have brought the total cost to $3000.00. I decline to have that work done. Also kept calling wrong phone number to get in touch with us. He didn't verify our number. our number has been the same for many years. PLEASE check reviews before have work done. read more

I will never go to this repair shop again! I am infuriated because I was ripped off. First, I was charged an astronomical vehicle diagnosis test. The test costs $150. Other Mini Cooper shops charge $79. Second, for an oil repair, it costs over five hundred dollars!! What really infuriated me was the mechanic did the work before consulting me on the price. Typically, repair shops notify customers of prices before beginning the repair. If I had known the price would be that high, I would have brought it to another auto shop to do the work. I am extremely disappointed with the service at German Auto Repair Shop and plan on never spending my dollars there again. read more

Everything they did seems to be ok so far but to charge someone $300 for a oil change is just ridiculous. Said my filter was really expensive looked it up it cost $13 dollars make sure you take out a loan three times the going rate before you go here. read more

This place has NO integrity. After replacing my A/C compressor ($2000+), the main drive belt on my ML snapped. They charged me for the removal of the belt ($300+) and for a new tensioner ($200+). Tensioner wasn't the cause but the adjustment bolt was somehow mysteriously rounded. They still don't know what caused the belt to break. This is the second belt to break since the A/C compressor was replaced. Never had this issue before the Compressor was replaced. I would never recommend a place that doesn't stand behind their workmanship. They also force the customer to pay for damage they obviously caused. This place charges near dealership prices, but don't provide anywhere near the dealership service. Especially when you consider that the dealer would provide you with a loaner and stand behind their workmanship. This place is full of SCAM artist and will RIP YOU OFF for every cent they can possibly charge. read more

My car would not start called German had it towed and all to find out that the steering auto theft went out. I have the approval and had my car back in 2 days and that was because the part had to be order. The customer service and mechanics are the best! Thanks read more

I brought our 2013 BMW there today for an oil change and a good once over and couldn't be happier with the service I received. They were very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail for me to understand it. I see a lot of the posts about the prices but keep in mind these are German cars and are expensive to maintain and it costs less than the dealership does. I will only bring my car here from here on out. Trust in the owner is worth every penny to know it is done right. read more

I've been here 3 times and every time I get charged out the ass for my BMW. They are very nice and fix everything but its not even a month later before something else breaks. I have never paid less than $400 (and that was just a battery). I'm convinced that other stuff is falling apart because of them. :/ read more

I can't say enough good things!!! Our a/c was completely fixed for a third of what the dealership wanted to charge me. Greg is the BEST!!!

I came to get my car fix because there was a problems with it. After few days I came in to pickup my car the same night when I was bring my daughter some where my car had a alert telling me that the level of the car is low. So the next day I went back in with my friend because I can't speak that well English, but my friend speak English very well. We went in and ask about the problem the guy was very rude and when we ask his question he does not even bother to have patient with to help but all he said was "I don't know, I don't know". He was saying it was my problem that the car was starting to have problem after they check. What really confused me was that if I just got it check and paying your company the fee and the people said it was all fine but the same night the car start to have problem. The people who help us was very rude and not polite at all. read more

Despite the negative reviews on this place, I decided to take my car here because I thought it would be more affordable & once been referred here by a friend. (1) this place is marginally less expensive than some places (2) my friends went here when there was a different owner. I do not think I would recommend this place. I had minimal work done on my vehicle at the cost of $820. I was fully aware of an oil leak in my vehicle which several mechanics said was not severe. German auto urged me to fix immediately. While I wanted to, it wasn't within my budget. They did not warn me of the issues that may arise with a serious oil leak... Within 4 days of my car being serviced at German, I saw the affects of the leak. Oil had spilled all over all 6 engine coils causing them to need to be replace immediately. In addition, I was left driving a car that shook violently. I can only speculate (from my experience & other reviews) that they worsened the leak in an attempt to get me to return for service and spend more money. I did not really trust their service & spoke to several trustworthy car professionals around town who advised I take my vehicle elsewhere. I am having the engine coils and oil leaks replaced elsewhere. If you are on the West Bank & need minor work, tire rotations or oil change, this place may be a consideration. Otherwise, I'd say go elsewhere. I would like to update this review to a 1 star rating (previously gave it 2). After bringing my car in for a headlight replacement & new tire, the following occurred: 1) the headlight was replaced but was not simply the cost of a bulb, supposedly it was the wire. That's fine 2) of the 4 tires, my back passenger side was the one of concern. I measured the pressure myself beforehand. It clearly has a hole or leak. They did nothing to that tire. When I picked up my car, the tire pressure light was still on and I remeasured pressure- down to 3 again. They replaced the 2 front tires. They replaced them with very cheap tires that are not even run flats !!! I was never told they were not run flats. I would never put 2 nonrun flats on my vehicle with the other 2 tires as run flats. Also, upon further investigation, I was ripped off on the price of these inferior tires. 3) they clearly intentionally worsened my oil leak to try to get me back to fix that leak. I consulted multiple professionals on this... Based on how the leak was before bringing to German vs how the it was leaking after, it's not reasonable for it to worsen that quickly. They are screwing over their customers and themselves because they ruined their relationship with me, I will never bring my car back here & I will never recommend them to anyone I know. read more

This place held onto my car for almost 3 months. Every 2 weeks there was another problem that costed more money and labor and needed more parts on order. In the end, they told me that all the work that was done was futile - I needed a full engine replacement...for even more money. They refused to minimize any of my labor costs, even after misdiagnosing and wasting 3 months of my time. They charged me full price for everything still. Now I'm out over $3,300, and my car's engine is in pieces. read more

Had 4500$ invoice on my Audi. Always had to call them they would never call me. And now I found out they never changed out my drivers side motor like they were supposed too 900$+ job. They said they changed the passenger which was completely fine so now my drivers side is still broke. Thanks for taking my cash for a shitty job done German Auto I will not be using your services again and I will make sure everyone else I know follows suit. You didnt try to hear me when I called you, you were rude and spoke matter-of-fact ly. I will be taking legal action because now I have no trust with you and don't think you did any of my work correctly. Thank you * I also had a 1986 944 Porsche there as well. Just had them run threw it to do a check up. It ran completely fine i drove it everywhere but when I got it back from them there were turbo problems and now it wont even start. hmm im sure they did something to that one as well. read more

Easily the worst experience I've ever had in a repair shop. The customer service was almost non-existent, as I had to call THEM multiple times after promises that I would be contacted "tomorrow", "by the end of the day", etc, concerning my car, that they kept for a week. I authorized TWO things. One, an oil change, for which they charged over $180, defending the outrageous price with: "oil is expensive" and "we are skilled technicians". Two, 1.5 hours of labor to look at an electrical problem related to my window. After they quoted me at $700 to fix a window that wouldn't roll down, I asked them to stop and not go through with the repair. They charged me for putting the door back together and my total bill, for this labor and an oil change was over $450. They made literally no attempt to rectify my frustration with their communication, slowness, or price. Again, this business is lacking even the most basic understanding of customer service. read more

I called to have brakes and rotors done at last minute and the owner squeezed me in. They had my car ready that evening with everything done. Breaks, rotors, oil change and break flush and computer reset correctly. I know something about cars so I checked everything. Good price too. A savings is a savings. My advice is to take your car to the dealer and pay for a maintenance DIAGNOSTICS check first. Then you will know what is in need of repair. Then price shop, yes.....price shop! Your repairs. Don't wait until your car breaks down! Think preventive maintenance. Especially with foreign cars. read more

I needed my brake light bulbs replaced and working., After keeping my BMW for several days, I was called and told to come pick up the car, they could not find anything wrong with the brake lights they all work. I kept the message, so when I get pulled over for not having working brake lights, I can't get a new brake tag, because they don't work, you've wasted so much of my time, and money and this is the 2nd time I dropped my car off for service and then was told nothing was wrong with it., after the car, left me stranded on the I-10 in traffic, then I had it towed. for an idle issue with the clutch, you kept my car so long one time the warranty ran out and I wasn't able to get the brakes repaired. I tell everyone I come in contact with not to go to your shop. , take the short drive go to Greff motors, they won't insult women drivers with a clutch read more

I'm a native New Orleanian however I live in Atlanta at present, but recently I was traveling to the city on business and my 92 SL500 had an issue with the airpump(emissions). Unfortunately, I had already known about this problem but didn't get it repaired in Atlanta where I was quoted a fair price. Nevertheless my car became inoperable once I got to New Orleans and because of the location where it stopped I brought it to German Auto Repair, they were very nice but the owner who assured me the I would receive a fair price charged me over $200 on a part that the dealer had at $200 less claiming that he had to make a profit. This guy lacks integrity, and he knew it! He didn't even come out to me and say thank you for your business, in fact he couldn't even look me in my face, he ran off into his office and his his face!
