Unfortunately I had blown my engine in my 2013 Q5 due to the crazy rain storm a few months ago. I asked around and did some looking for a shop that was qualified and reasonable, other people pointed me to German Auto Pros. I reached out to them, and was a little thrown off by having to TEXT a business but they actually responded and seemed helpful.....until they got my car and my money. When they got that, communication stopped. They had my vehicle for 3....yes THREE months! So I will give them credit for one thing only, they did Try to ease the pain of the wait by doing motor mounts as well, thanks for That. Well got the car back after all this time with 12 codes and a constant misfire. I have been given a BS story about what it is....you're wrong GAP! So 3 months and I can't even drive my vehicle. It's a 90 mile round trip for me every time I have to come up there. I have requested an actual phone call, but no we want to continue to text like we are middle school buddies. Be professional and make it right! I highly DO NOT recommend using this place for anything. read more

So, I don't like to use my Yelp Elite status to tear down businesses to a certain degree, but gosh darn it some times they just deserve it. I'm going to summarize my review for those of you who don't read entire reviews in one sentence to spare you the gory details. I'd trust Congress with my vehicle before taking it to this sh*t hole again. You catch my drift? German Auto 'Pros' is literally the definition of a chop shop. And the ring leader of this whole circus, at least in my dealings, was this foul mouthed, dog faced jester named Cary Burkett. Now I want to be clear, those are objective statements...not personal insults as I do not know Cary in any personal capacity. This fool literally breathes lies and is incapable of anything other than over promising and under delivering. You ever beat off and stop right before you bust? That's sort of how dealing with him is, a perpetual, God forsaken let down and broken promise after broken promise. I brought my Porsche in and was continually lied to and told this, that, and the other. NONE OF IT WAS TRUE. Cary wasted countless hours of my time and I ended up paying to be in a WORSE spot than what I was in when I first fell into his trap. I literally would rather sell vacuums door to door instead of dealing with this dude again. I'd recommend going, not joking, literally anywhere else in the world as opposed to coming to German Auto 'Pros'. Cary Burkett wasted not only my money, but my time. This guy is a real Hack! If you're taking your car there for an oil change or air in your tires you're fine. Anything else he is a hack. And worse yet he lies! Took my A6 to him for a fuel pump replacement. After the 3rd attempt failed and I AGAIN had to tow it to him he told me that his lot was full and I'd have to tow it to my house and then again when he could take me...not even kidding. Really.... tow it twice?! BTW he has over 55 parking spots in his lot! I called the tow truck that was on the way to rescue me and told him to take it to the Middleburgh Dealer. Thank God that mechanic was wise enough to take photos!! Hack man said he wouldn't back his work because I took it somewhere else. WHAT? You had 3 tries and oh by the way you intentionally didn't take it in so that I would have to take it somewhere else!! Had to sue him but won! Honestly do not take you car to this dude! Pay a little more and have someone who will back their work! He prices himself a little less than the dealer for a reason. Run from this guy do not walk! I took in a 1973 VW bug for engine work. They do the work they commit to, no issues there. And the labor rate for an air cooled mechanic is very reasonable The air-cooled guy Joe knows his stuff. But I'm dumbfounded by the absolutely horrible communication. They rarely answer the phone and the voice mail instructs you to text them. They usually take a week to respond to texts and as a result it is impossible to maintain a good level of communication on the complexities of working on a vintage car. The odd thing is every time I would go into the shop. There were multiple people out front at the service desk, including the very nice lady who I assume is the wife of the owner. I brought in my bmw X3 to get serviced since it wasnt pulling past 20mph and needed to get a few tune ups done I had the parts for they lied and said those parts weren't compatible with my car's engine which was an N 52 no turbo and these guys did nothing with it then tried charging an extra $600 on the no job they did after being asked they said the vehicle was running "fine" and pulling past 20 mph didn't even make it out of the lot before I called them and yelled about the situation -100/10 don't come here read more

There simply is no better place to go for car repair than here. My passat just got returned to me about a week ago, and I can't say I've enjoyed driving it any more than I have since it's gotten back! The guys there are super respectful of your vehicle, and nothing was any worse off after the work was complete. It's hard to find a good garage anymore, but these guys are the real deal. Have had several great experiences with GAP. My car (a Mercedes E320 Blutec) is a somewhat uncommon model with a lot of complex problems. I've literally had other indy shops balk at servicing it because they didn't feel comfortable with certain systems. GAP always provided confident and accurate diagnosis of issues the car was having, and while not every repair experience was perfect, their professionalism in backing up their work always was. Cary takes customer retention VERY seriously and I greatly appreciate that. read more

Eternally grateful to German Auto Pros for fixing my Audi B8 A4 after the engine jumped time. I was initially quoted $5000 by one shop that said the pistons were damaged. German Auto Pros was not only able to do the work for a fraction of that quote but also identified that the pistons were fine and only a valve replacement was needed. Cary, the shop owner, and his team were all extremely friendly and helpful throughout the process, and It was easy to see that everyone in the shop has a true love for European cars and the community around them. Finding a good mechanic can be a tall order, I highly recommend GAP to anyone looking for a trustworthy, down-to-earth shop that cares about more than just running a business. read more

Great service overall. I've needed an oil change and a check up for a while and have been hesitant to go because I thought it would be outrageously expensive. The staff was extremely friendly, were able to service my car right away and I did not have to wait long for great results. I saw negative reviews of this place and thought they may just be isolated incidents. I should have gone with my gut feeling, that was mistake #1. I dropped my BMW 650 off on Wednesday evening for an appointment on Thursday morning. That was mistake #2. I stopped by later on Thursday to see what was going on with the diagnosis but my car was no where to be seen. After asking where it was and waiting about 10 minutes I was told it was parked out front, it wasn't, I looked. A few minutes later one of the "technicians" was pulling in with it. Ok, fine road test I get it. They say they can't find any coolant leaks and that it's not leaking, trust me, it's leaking. Ok fine, I pick the car up and notice they put 131 miles on it. I called Carey the owner and he didn't even deny it. He told me they drove it to Mentor for an "extensive road test" to see if it would leak. Are you kidding me? They were even dumb enough to leave a receipt in the car from Painesville which is a LONG way from Parma Heights. The funniest thing about this whole cluster is that the owner thinks or at least acts like this is completely normal. I said, "it's funny how a BMW dealer doesn't do this". He replied that he knew BMW techs that will road test a car to Columbus. Seriously? He's delusional. Well at any rate, they used my car to joyride and most likely never even looked at it. He kept it at his house overnight and never fixed anything. They said it's probably leaking from a loose expansion tank cap, if that were true it would be leaking from the top, not the bottom as it's and coolant would be down the tank and it's not. Funny how BMW found the problem in 30 minutes. Look around at some of the cars out front and you'll see all you need. Most are garbage cars in various stages of "repair". Do yourself a favor and pay a few extra bucks and go to a reputable shop unless you want your car used like Ferris Buehlers Day Off. You've been sufficiently warned. read more

Glad I went here because not only did they squeeze me on a moments notice but I was also able to get a lot of questions answered and some concerns I had with the car. I have taken my cars to German Auto pros For the last 3 years. Ive spent a lot of time with the guys from there and have come to know the owner Cary and his manager Jose very well. All i can say is this. Anyone who isnt satisfied with the work and feedback that comes from Cary and the members of GAP shouldn't and don't belong around cars. Cary is a genuine all around good human being and its a shame more people aren't like him. His wife Suzie has to be the most pleasant person you could ever work with and Cary is straight shooter. I've never met a customer that Cary hasnt taken care of and he is always straight with every single customer that walks in. Ive taken 5 different cars there personally and I've never had a single issue with anything even miles after different services. These guys a true family type of shop and i will continue to use his services and send everyone to this shop and this shop only. I own a 2006 VW TDI. I found this shop by mistake and boy am I glad I did. I can't say enough good things about this place, if you have a VW or Audi especially TDI this is the place to take it. I was blown away by the service I received for the price. They do not patch things up, they actually fix the problem. Where I previously paid up to 120$ for an oil change I got it done here for under 80$ with mobile 1 oil and top of the line filters. And this is just a small portion of it. My friend has the same car as I do and once he took his car here he could not believe how good they took care of everything. read more

I'd rate this place more than five stars if I could! Contacts are incredibly responsive with quotes/questions through email and Facebook. Work is absolutely top-notch and at a fraction of dealership costs, with the same (if not better) quality of work. I was quoted just over $1,400 for a repair through Ganley VW, German Auto Pros did the same job (even with an added valve cleaning) for just over $500 after tax. They also made sure my GTI was running smoothly before I took it home. Also had my GTI in two times previously, and the work was done professionally and on time. I won't hesitate to take my GTI here again for any repairs. read more

DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR Edit to owner's reply: Wow, still full of lies. It's killing me to read through their reply. Saying KW suspension productions are not properly made is like saying Obama is white. Not gonna waste my time with these guys. So disgusting! If you have some knowledge about cars, you will find the owner is such a bad liar. I had the KW height adjustable spring kit installed for my 2015 Audi S5 half month ago by them. Usually I have my mechanics working on my car. But I was visiting my girlfriend during the holiday season. I found them in forum recommendations. The experience was so bad that I felt I must give out this warning. So you don't have to suffer the same. After going through all threads about the spring kit, I get idea that the kit tends to make noises with improper installation. So I provided the installation guide and emphasized on following the guide in the first visit. However, there were still a bunch of parts left in the box when I picked up the car. So I had to come back and had them do it again. In the second visit, when I was trying to show what should have been done to the owner, I started to get a bad feeling about the shop. The owner said the reason those were not installed is because they didn't fit my stock shocks, and they were made for aftermarket shocks. [o_o][o_o] I would be surprised if any company would develop springs for other company's shock. And he said the front spring perch cannot be removed since 1) it was welded to the stock; 2) it might cause safety issue if the perch is removed. At the time, I hesitated a bit since they mentioned safety issue. But looking at it now, I think they were trying to find excuses not to redo the front, which takes the most of the time. Also, it is pretty clear that the perch should be removed as mentioned in the guide I provided, and it is definitely not welded to the stock. The funny thing is after the work is done, the owner told me they had to drill holes to make the parts fit. [:/][:/] While, the kit is a direct fit, which anybody knows about KW would know. But I didn't care too much since they had the parts installed after all. However, I didn't know that was just the beginning of the worst part. The car started to throw headlight range control defective code right after I left the shop for the second visit. So I had to bring the car the third time to have them fix the problem. And that is a two-hour round-way trip. Despite of having a waiting-type appointment at 11am, my car got pulled in at 3pm. Man, I never had foreplay taking that long! One lady had the work done even before that, although she came after me. Finally, around 5pm (after waiting for 6 hours at the lounge), my car was ready and the owner claimed they examed the problem, recalibrated the headlights, and it should be good. But after driving 10 mins, the code showed again [=(][=(]. So I called them up and wanted to give them another chance to fix the problem before I get completely disappointed with the shop. Not a surprise, I got pushed me away by excuses like they are already fully booked; they don't have the tool to scan the code; that's only what they can do; the sensor may be damaged because of lowering the car, and they suggested me to take the car to the dealer. I can tell the own didn't want to take the responsibility of the problem. It left me no options. I ended up taking to the dealer. It turned out the rear wiring was not connected. The deal reconnected the wiring, reprogrammed the sensors and charged me $190 since it was caused by aftermarket work. I think the fix is legit, since they can easily charge me much more than that and claim the sensors are also damaged. But the owner of German Auto Pros said that was untrue and the dealer must have done something suspicious there, and then completely ignored my emails after I asked how he wanted to deal wit it. To me, it is pretty clear they messed up the installation, based on the fact the code only started to show after the second time they worked on my car, which got fixed by reconnecting the wiring; and they don't take any responsibility. Now, I am back home, and have my mechanics take out the front perch and re-exam the whole suspension work. In total, I spent $850+ solely for installing the kit. At this point, I don't care if they would compensate or not. I just want to share the experience, and hope things like that will not happen to others. read more

the owner, known to the public as carey (william c. burkett) is a liar and his (supposed) son is a liar. they gave my car back with the airbag light lit on my dash. I took them to court and won a 860.00 settlement. I have yet to see a penny of it. thru the entire ordeal he couldn't have cared less. he never called me back (I called him once), he never showed up for court and he never paid me. I walked in there a month ago and asked for money and he said he didn't have it but he'll keep in touch. he's a joke!!!! here's the story: took my car to them and told them of a steering problem. he said he'd call me back with what needs to be done and an estimate. he never called back so I called him about 3 hours later. he said I needed a steering rack with ball joints. one from the dealer had a 1 year warranty and was 750.00. an after market one was 535.00 with a 3 year warranty. I chose the after market. labor was about 320.00. all this was over the phone, nothing in writing. the next day I get a call to pick up the car. he said the bill was 840 + tax but if I pay cash he will pay the tax. I said great. I went home and to the atm and got the cash. I paid him 850 and i never got the change back until I asked him for it. I get in the car and head to the store. at the first light I notice a light is lit on the dash. I didn't know what is was so after I went to the store I headed back to the shop. I flagged down a mechanic in the parking lot and asked him what this light was on my dash. he looked at it and said it was the airbag light. I said that was not on when I dropped the car off. he said the work they did had nothing to do with the airbag light coming on. we went back and forth a couple times and he finally said, "go inside and ask my dad if he can look at it". I went in and carey said fine. I waited another 20 minutes and carey comes out and says the diagnostic tool is unable to reset the light and if he could work on it. i started again, "the light wasn't lit when i brought the car in. he said it was. we went back and forth a couple times and he said "the airbag light was lit when i brought the car in, the mechanic wrote on the work order. i never saw that work order. he would not take responsibility for this so i told him i was taking him to court. once again, he couldn't have cared less. i started to research the problem and found out that they broke my clock spring while replacing my steering rack. i made a statement "after my steering rack was replaced, my airbag light is lit on the dash" on a blog/forum on the internet. a mechanic responded to me saying "on most cars, if you turn the steering wheel in either direction by 20 to 30 degrees, the clock spring will break. this is all i needed to win the case in court. THESE PEOPLE WILL LIE TO YOUR FACE WITHOUT HESITATION. DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE LIARS OR THEY ARE TOO STUPID. THEY PROBABLY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHY THE AIRBAG WAS LIT AFTER THEY REPLACED THE STEERING RACK. read more

Hate leaving this review since initally they were a good shop but turned quickly when they misdiagosed my VW Touareg fan issue and replaced the wrong fan (two in the 4.2L) $600 w installation. Not only was it the wrong fan but 1 month wait for special order VW dealer part that turned out to be a 3rd party knockoff. They refused to make this right or even refund my money for the $400 "dealer" fan. So bottomline, they replaced my working fan with knock off that failed. Left in the original failing fan that also had to be replaced by another shop $900 more in expense (Simon's in Cleveland Heights - highly recommended). In the end these German Auto Pros messed up, refused to make it right and lost a customer forever. BEWARE. read more
