We enjoyed everything about this restaurant. It was a great experience and as an Italian and…read moreAmerican who is very picky with his Italian cuisine, so far this was the best Italian restaurant experience for me in São Paulo, taking into consideration price, quality, and ambiance. The pasta dishes were the right portion, simple and tasty. In my experience, in Brasil there is a tendency of thinking that more topping or more sauce is better, but it's not. You just need the right amount, and our dishes were perfect. The atmosphere of the place was cozy and romantic! My girlfriend and I sat outdoors, drinking wine and listening to our music and it felt like we were in an Italian piazza! The service was a little slow, but that was only because the place was very busy, the dishes were freshly prepared, and the waiters very friendly! The owner Umberto came to greet us, talk to us, and at the end sat at our table and sang with us some Italian tunes! We will definitely keep coming back! O clima do lugar estava aconchegante e romântico.

Our group of 14 made a reservation for a Thursday night around 8pm but we trickled in slowly until…read more8:15 without a problem. We ordered four of their massive pasta plates - meat ravioli with tomato sauce, a stuffed cheese pasta that I didn't recognize with tomato sauce, penne parisienne, and tagliatelle bolognese. Bread basket was nothing to write home about but came with two interesting spreads - both anchovy/sardine based. Tasty if you're into that but otherwise stick to the butter. Ordering was easy and our pasta was served quickly. Everything was family style but our waiter portioned the pastas onto each plate (which spared us splattering sauces all over the table and ourselves; much appreciated!). The ravioli were a little bit of a miss - too thick with too little filling but still tasty. Bolognese was meaty and well balanced while the tagliatelle was al dente. Penne parisienne was not to my tastes (very creamy/cheesy with brasilian sliced ham and peas) but it was loved by all my brasilian friends. My surprise favorite was the stuffed envelope type pasta that I couldn't get the name of. I'm not sure where it ranks on the Italian food scale for Brasil/São Paulo (tasted like 3 stars to me) but the service was efficient and accommodating of our large group. They split the bill 14 ways without a problem and we all had our fill for about 35R$ including tax/gratuity. Atmosphere was classy but the clientele was mixed - families with young children, young couples, and older folks on a date night.

THE best pasta I've tried. If you're in Brazil/sp and want…read moreto have the best experience with eating Italian food THIS is the place to go.

It's the…read moreclassic churrascaria experience -- similar to Fogo de Chão -- with a full buffet, salad bar, and endless cuts of meat brought to the table. Here's the thing: I don't eat steak, pork, or most of the meats they specialize in, and I'm not a big fan of buffet or all‑you‑can‑eat restaurants in general. We came here because a coworker invited us, and she was being really kind, so I didn't think to check the price beforehand. I ended up only eating the salad, and with dessert my total came to about $66. For someone who doesn't eat the main attraction, that price felt a bit high -- honestly, I felt a little ripped off, LOL. Not the restaurant's fault at all; this is exactly how churrascarias work. It just wasn't the best match for my eating habits. Next time, I'll politely turn down the invite or suggest a different spot that fits my preferences better. But if you do enjoy steakhouse-style dining and want the full Brazilian churrasco experience, Barbacoa delivers exactly what it promises.

I love several other Churrasacarias in São Paulo, but this one is a real standout. We had a group dinner with friends and coworkers, and we were led to a large table, and the staff fawned all over us. They were very accommodating and friendly. The food and wine were all top-notch, and they brought whatever cut of meat you asked for, instead of waiting for the "good stuff" like the Picanha. The salad bar was great as well, although I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any Feijoada, which is usually a staple at any Churrascaria in Brazil. Again, there are several good Churrascarias here, but if you want the best, you won't get any better than Barbacoa!
