I had a NIGHTMARE of experience with covered california & their assigned added delta dental HMO plan with no help to provide care for my 4 year old son whom complained of mouth pain. I went back & forth many times calling & requesting to speak to supervisors to escalate the issue with no resolution for a week. I even signed up for additional insurance in hopes to just get treatment but that solution still fell into the category of unknown of "in network" care & costs AND the plan didn't go into effect the following month which is useless because my son needed care NOW. Fast forward to doing research & reaching out to dental practices to find a solution, I came across Pediatric Dentistry Palo Alto which offered their own membership which was effective immediately & they had appointment availability to be seen the following day, I finally felt a sigh of relief. I could already tell the high quality of care my son would receive not only by the reviews I read, but also by the photos of the office, the location, and also by the way the staff communicated with me to address my concerns both financially & clinically for my son. The front desk Tony & Alani, were prompt in their responses & were solution focused which I appreciated most. Tony went above & beyond to assist with getting the financial program situated. We scheduled with Dr Adam through the portal & the staff informed us that Dr. Jon will be seeing my son instead because change in Dr Adam's schedule. I read high reviews for Dr Jon & we agreed that was fine. The experience: when we first walked in, the office is modern, clean & well kept. They had images of characters to create a welcoming atmosphere for kids. We were fortunate to work with our hygienist Andres whom was patient & worked so well with our 4 year old. It was perfect because before their treatment, they bring them into their video closet which our son got to choose & they display it on a screen above the treatment chair which we thought was very clever & cool! My son mentioned he was scared to go to the dentist & did so well because the whole staff created a welcoming & comforting atmosphere. Dr. Michelle helped reassure me, was reachable and empathic, and helped make the x-rays and the treatment bearable. My little guy was scared. He got to keep the tooth but Dr. Michelle had to shave/smooth the rough, sharp edge where the break was and it was loud and scary. He had to stay totally still and we made it through! I trusted her fully and was grateful he was in her capable hands. My other son had some small cavities that were treated by silver floss which I hadn't heard of before but was a less invasive way of stopping the cavity from growing than drilling and filling. Lastly, Dr. Michelle came to my son's school for dental health awareness month and gave a wonderful interactive presentation that the kids loved. This is a great business. I live in the east bay, but I am so glad that I took my friend's advice to try Dr. Quo. When we arrived, the waiting room had a great play area which set a positive mood for my son. We were called soon after we arrived and my son settled into the room very quickly. The monitor mounted on the ceiling, playing "Cars" (the movie), was so exciting for my son that he practically jumped onto the operating table to lie down! He looked so relaxed...which helped ME relax!! Dr. Quo explained everything to my son before each step of the procedure. He has an excellent bed-side manner and even used kid-friendly terms like calling the gauze a "blanket" to wrap around the tongue. I was feeling anxious knowing my son was having an emergency procedure (an extraction!), but I really relaxed as my son was at ease. The entire procedure was so quick too. He is very charming and personable and we initially trusted his recommendations. However, over time we became increasingly concerned because almost every visit seemed to result in our children being diagnosed with multiple cavities often five or six at a time. At our most recent visit, one of our children was told she had six cavities that needed treatment. Given the number, we decided to get a second opinion from another pediatric dentist before proceeding. To our surprise, the second dentist examined her and told us she did not have any cavities. That experience was extremely concerning and caused us to lose confidence in the diagnoses and treatment recommendations we had been receiving. I strongly encourage other parents who are told their child needs extensive dental work to consider getting a second opinion before proceeding!

The space is clean and modern with top of the line equipment... they even gave me a tour of the facility and a goodie bag with full sized products upon my first visit. The entire staff from the front desk to the hygienists and doctors are all warm and welcoming. I never felt pressured or upsold on anything and while they are constantly booked up with appointments months out, they set aside dates and times for new patients and/or emergencies. On top of that, they're open early in the mornings AND on weekends so they make it easy for people who can't take time off of work during the week. I've done a deep cleaning here, replaced an old crown and even did the in-office zoom teeth whitening. All in all, I highly recommend coming to Grace Dental if you're looking for a good dentist.
