I have very straight, fine hair. I always want a simple trim and very thin, natural highlights. She does this perfectly for me and then styles my hair in soft waves so I feel like a million bucks when I leave! For the salon itself- there a few pros and cons. I like the design of the salon. It's beautiful and a comfortable place to be. I also like the times they are open because I can always get an appointment after work. I do not really like the little boutique they have. The clothes are all really overpriced for what they are and it just seems a waste of space. Also, you cannot tip your stylist if you pay on a credit card. You have to use their ATM. This combined with the boutique makes the customer feel like they are trying to make a few extra bucks at the expense of the stylists. All companies have figured out a way to get tips on a card- it can't be that hard. Overall- I would definitely recommend you visit to see Lauren for color or cut. She also does extensions! But bring cash!

Gretchen is my hairdresser, and she is just great! She's a terrific listener, but at the same time will walk me through things and give me feedback so that way I leave with something that I both like and looks great. There are several women that will wash you hair and put in toning treatments and they are all so sweet and just really take care of you! Pricewise, I think that this salon is at a great price point considering the high quality of services they give. Their prices are at the mid to higher range, however I have had my hair done at salons that will give you the same results and completely gouge your wallet. Then the hairdresser called in the owner Michelle for advice on how to proceed. Michelle was adamant about 3 color changes otherwise my hair couldn't be done. Before starting I asked about pricing and Michelle said it would be at least $225 without style or cut. Fine but I only had $200 and I really needed a cut. So I asked her if we can just do one process and the cut instead. Or if i needed to call my husband so he can bring more cash. The place didn't take credit cards or so i was told. At that point, michelle got snappy and told me that I don't appreciate the work that needs to be put in. Also that it would take a whole day. And concluded that and I quote: " we won't provide any services for you, thank you, you can go" I asked about getting a haircut but she insisted. " no, I'm not comfortable having the stylist working on your hair. I don't want you to blame us or write a bad review" I was in tears. I was not offered other option, no one suggested anther appointment. Once I walked out, I went to the Salon at Macy's in Collierville. A young lady named Gabrielle took me in and in two hours, and a free deep treatment and a superb pixy cut I was platinum blonde no brass no ruined hair and it was $80. I left Gabrielle a 50% tip I was so happy. Here attached are the pics from my haircut and color at the salon @ Macys NOT at ALa Mode. So unless you want to spend a boat load of $$$ for something that can be done elsewhere faster better and with less BS and pretentious airs - stay away. Not to mention that the receptionist in question was Michelle's daughter and she simply hung up on my husband when he called to get an explanation for why I was so distraught. Twice. There are better salons and better mannered and skilled real professionals out there.

The hair wash felt rushed and ineffective, more like product being rubbed in and quickly rinsed rather than a proper shampoo. The blowout itself was poorly executed. There was little to no tension with the round brush, and it did not seem like the stylist was comfortable handling the brush or blow dryer. When she finished, the top of my hair was still damp, the style lacked volume and bounce, and the part was uneven. The stylist also did not show me the finished style with a mirror, which is standard practice. I expressed my disappointment at the end of the service, but while I was still in the salon checking out, I overheard another stylist comment to the one who did my hair that she "thought it was pretty," openly discussing my dissatisfaction within earshot. That felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. Based on this experience, I would not return to this location or recommend it to others.

Friendly staff and conversation is easy. They have their services listed with prices so there's no confusion. You can get a wash, blow dry and style, a makeover and anything in between. I was a tad bit hesitant because I thought they didn't cater to my African American skin but that was no problem at all. I opted for an easy daytime look and I believe my stylist did a great job. I would definitely return with my daughter. This would make a great girls day out stop. Make sure to make reservations. They also have products for sale. I left with a pretty lip gloss.
