My hair is course and brittle. I have to take really good care of my hair. It took years after radiation to grow my hair back. We moved here because my husband got a job with Fedex. I've been around the US and experienced many hair salons. I went to see Gracie. She is super sweet. I told her the issues with my hair and she promised to take care of me. I got a couple of rows of highlights and then low lights over the rest of my hair. She gave me a "collagen treatment" that was supposed to help keep my hair from breaking. I paid $280 for all the "special treatments" to keep my hair in good condition. I've never paid that much for my hair....even living in CA. Gracie straightened my naturally curly hair, and I went home and washed my hair a couple days later. To my horror, I noticed a TON of breakage ALL OVER MY HAIR. I started crying and called Ella David Salon. They promised to have Gracie call me. Gracie text me back and I sent her pictures of what happened. She felt bad and was very nice. But there was nothing she could do but offer another "hair treatment". I didn't want my hair further ruined so I declined. I called again to talk to the owner about what happened. I left 3 messages. Finally I got upset and told the salon I needed the owner to call me back ASAP. Finally after a week, the owner got back to me. I explained the situation to her and explained how her products ruined my hair. The owner was SO apathetic and rude. She did not care AT ALL that her products ruined my hair I worked years to grow after cancer. She said they could "cut my hair and give my a free conditioner". ARE YOU KIDDING??? I paid $280 for you to ruin my hair and you tell me to get a hair cut??? I was crying on the phone to the owner and she blatantly told me there was nothing she could do and it wasn't her fault. The first time I was booked with someone who travels out of town to help out at times (which wasn't convenient when my hair didn't hold color before a wedding I needed to go to and she wasn't there to fix it for another month...) while the lady did my hair she told me she missed parts of my hair that she noticed while she was blow drying (which is fine) but we had to add color in for a second time...so I shampooed twice before leaving and was running late for the rest of my day. (I understand accidents happen and I appreciate she attempted to fix this) I called back within a week to see if I could get my hair fixed, but the lady who travels out of town wasn't there again for a month....so I was told I would have to book with someone else and I would also have to pay full price since I was seeing someone new. (even though I feel like my hair was not done properly the first time and it should have been fixed)... The second time it was done I had a permanent hair color put into my hair (not sure why someone would lift my hair again after it was already highlighted, that's not what I wanted...) it just made the color look lighter, my hair more damaged, and again it didn't hold a second time, there were blonde pieces still showing through. When I called asking is someone could do the roots and just try to touch up the ends that didn't hold as a courtesy to fix it I was told "too much time had passed" and I would have to pay again to correct it a third time. I don't mind to pay, but the trust was gone with this place and I didn't get the service that I wanted. Some of the staff were nice, and the shampoo lady did a great job massaging my scalp, but the lady on the phone was not nice or helpful when I called with my concern. I ended up going elsewhere and a new stylist gave me Demi-permanent color and I have not had a problem holding the color since. Not sure what happened here, but I wasn't a fan of the lack of customer service or offer to fix anything. I will not be coming back here and would not recommend

I'm an easy going person, so my expectations already weren't super high, but when I saw the finished product, I knew it couldn't get any worse. I came to Amy in tears and heartbroken. The first girl who did my hair, did not color match it, had really bad quality hair, and was just super unprofessional anyways. I was so disheartened and sad. But then, when I found Amy on here, it was like Cinderella's Prince Charming came running in with the other shoe! I sent her a picture of my awful hair before, and she didn't know me prior, and got me in almost instantly. She was so gentle, professional, and took the best care of me. She will make you feel right at home, and can and WILL transform your hair! I feel like Princess Ariel now!

Then the hairdresser called in the owner Michelle for advice on how to proceed. Michelle was adamant about 3 color changes otherwise my hair couldn't be done. Before starting I asked about pricing and Michelle said it would be at least $225 without style or cut. Fine but I only had $200 and I really needed a cut. So I asked her if we can just do one process and the cut instead. Or if i needed to call my husband so he can bring more cash. The place didn't take credit cards or so i was told. At that point, michelle got snappy and told me that I don't appreciate the work that needs to be put in. Also that it would take a whole day. And concluded that and I quote: " we won't provide any services for you, thank you, you can go" I asked about getting a haircut but she insisted. " no, I'm not comfortable having the stylist working on your hair. I don't want you to blame us or write a bad review" I was in tears. I was not offered other option, no one suggested anther appointment. Once I walked out, I went to the Salon at Macy's in Collierville. A young lady named Gabrielle took me in and in two hours, and a free deep treatment and a superb pixy cut I was platinum blonde no brass no ruined hair and it was $80. I left Gabrielle a 50% tip I was so happy. Here attached are the pics from my haircut and color at the salon @ Macys NOT at ALa Mode. So unless you want to spend a boat load of $$$ for something that can be done elsewhere faster better and with less BS and pretentious airs - stay away. Not to mention that the receptionist in question was Michelle's daughter and she simply hung up on my husband when he called to get an explanation for why I was so distraught. Twice. There are better salons and better mannered and skilled real professionals out there.
