I have been treated as if I were a guest, rather than just a resident. It's good to know the Eaves provides outstanding customer service and cares enough to guarantee that clients are happy with their experience. They also ask for feedback in a kind manner. I am always greeted and assisted by wonderful staff like Kathryn and Lincoln, and they also have a beautiful leasing office. The grounds are kept clean and tidy, and you will regularly see the maintenance crew driving around in golf carts doing various work. If I have questions, they never go unanswered and they provide you with an app to communicate with maintenance 24/7. Someone always responds and keeps you updated on your needs. On a personal level, everyone's actions show they really want you to feel comfortable and safe. For example, I was too sick this week to pick up new keys for my mailbox and Lincoln drove over from the leasing office to my building and left them in a cute green envelope with the Eaves logo on it. I would have been impressed with a key on the doormat so you can imagine how surprised that I also found a box of Celestial Chamomile tea there too with a handwritten note. It said "We are so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. We picked up some tea for you. Hope this brings you some comfort. From your team at the Eaves". It's nice knowing that the staff cares and wants to make a difference. Not one person has an attitude when you need something, and they always remind you to continue to seek them out if you need anything. It's my first Winter here and the grounds are cleared regularly. There are speed bumps, so no one is racing around disturbing the residents. There are perks and discounts too. It's good to be home.

Also, bathroom tiles are falling off the wall- they asked me to use a 'public' bathroom (clubhouse) for showers while repairs are done. All I asked was to let me break my lease and due to the conditions to waive my penalties as it isn't my fault this apartment is not up to code. Management has been extremely rude, has prolonged this for weeks and unwilling to cooperate with me. I see other people complaining about MOLD- feel free to reach out, tenants should not be treated this way!

We actually watched our apartment being built which was really cool. We had an OKAY experience. To let people in the building, a guest types in your apartment number & it calls the phone number you used to set it up. For example- my fiancé & I both lived there. He was away on business & I had my parents stop by. When they came, the call went to his phone while he was out of the country & there was nothing we could do about it. He just had to let them in. The pool rules are SO WEIRD. You have bands for entry but can't have guests. Hours are strange. No music allowed. Basically no fun allowed lol There is storage underneath the building but the amount of space you get is ridiculous. Don't bother try to store your Christmas tree down there because it won't fit. You can store your bike though, it kind of just hangs on the walls. There are carts available for residents to use to bring things to & from your apartment. There are only 3/4 for 2 entrances & you're supposed to bring them down back to the door when you're done but no one ever does. Imagine going to the grocery store, coming home to get a cart & there are none, so you grab as many as you can, get all the way up to your door & see a cart someone left in the hallway- ANNOYING. People do that all the time. When you get the keys you get an actual key & a fob. The fob is what you scan in order to get into the building, you use the key to unlock & lock your door. They also give you ONE key for the mailbox. Washer & dryer in unit- HATED both. The dryer always stopped when it shouldn't have. We got the Kodiak apartment design, which we liked because there was a little nook which we thought would be perfect for a sectional couch. We were told that the nook runs through the entire building because that's where the old factory's elevator was- pretty cool! The bedroom closet we had was sad. It was barely a closet. We had zero space for our clothes. The #1 reason we couldn't stay there, we outgrew it before we even moved in. VERY nice game room & community area on the first floor near the lobby. That's where we had our housewarming party- we had 70 people come!!! I doubt they let anyone have parties there after that LOL FYI The building is along train tracks & the trains are LOUD & sometimes run in the middle of the night & early morning.

For the avoidance of doubt, if you move here, you are at the mercy of the Property Manager. To be clear, this Property Manager constructively dismisses any colleague who is smart and has an ounce of common sense or calls the Property Manager out on their lies. Two staff have left so far and the only one that is left is the one that they are able to put the fear of God into (or they are just plain stupid for staying). Here's a few updates for you since my first review: 1) The landlord does not care about you. You are nothing but a check for their shoddy construction efforts. 2). First Amendment rights are not welcome here. If you write a negative review (like here on Yelp!), the Property Manager will be sure to consult with Counsel and see if you can be evicted (which you cannot). Heck they will even send you a Cease and Desist notice based on trumped up allegations, that under a deposition at Civil Trial would be shot down because the allegations are B.S. and the accusers are friends and employees of the landlord. 3). If you withhold rent because of their shoddy construction and the fact that the unit has habitability issues, you will be sued. How dare you stand up to this landlord for their poor workmanship. 4). You offer to pay said rent just to get rid of the headache? They will limit your options in an effort to get you evicted. 5) Contractors will deal and imbibe in Schedule I drugs and then return to work. (This likely explains some of the construction issues). Does no one here care about Health and Safety? 6). Have kids? Don't move here. Contractors will whistle at minors and the Property Manager doesn't give a damn. You will be advised that Construction have been notified - doesn't help in the event that your child is kidnapped and killed. Seriously, do we know who these people are that the developer allows on site, particularly when they don't care about your complaints and rock up to the job looking like they were picked up off Rt 18 that same morning. 7). Friends of the developer will be up in your business. They know who they are and they makes no apologies for the fact that they are "a friend of the developer". B*tch, sit your ass down, no one cares, least me and if you open your rat mouth again, the community are likely going to verbally put you in your place. 8). Liar Liar, Pants on Fire. That is what our Property Manager is called. Don't address them by their name because Liar is exactly what they are. Anything to save their ass and protect their job. According to their version of events, I withheld rent because of a cracked sink and a couple of other cosmetic issues. No. I withheld rent because of your cheap construction. Issues with the air conditioning, the electrics, the overall quality of construction, the problem with the mantle getting so hot it would likely combust and a laundry list of other issues - you know, stuff you would never tolerate yourself. Guess what? If you had done your job, we would NOT be here right now, but we are because you cannot do your job. I moved to suburbia for a quiet life, to take my foot off the gas and chill out. Unfortunately, I ended up with a cowboy landlord who has henchmen to make your life a misery. Come at me bro? Do not think that I won't fight back! Although it was move-in ready, a house fire in 2012 flipped building 71 on its head after the rebuild. The association hired the lowest bidder and from then on, it was all downhill. The electric was wonky, my kitchen cabinets were held together with spit & bubble gum, and the office staff was indifferent to many, more serious concerns. Meantime, the monthly ass'n fee was over $300 when I sold in Oct. 2021. I was ECSTATIC to leave that complex! Bought a house in Ocean County for 1/2 what I sold for. Life is good again, and Whispering Woods is just a bad memory. Nobody cares anymore, including their useless board of trustees.

We enjoy the amenities which include a small dog park and indoor bath area, very nice gym facility with classes, outdoor "decks/patio" spaces with BBQ grills, a courtyard, a coffee and tea machine (serving Starbucks), and various events each month. Everyone in the building is very friendly as well - mainly young professionals due to the proximity of the Rahway train station - but also families of all ages and sizes. Also noting as a female - I've always felt safe in and around the facility at night - it's very nearby to the Police Station. My favorite part? At the time they were offering 2 months free to use in the beginning of your lease and allowed us to hold the apartment for 2 1/2 months until we were ready to move in. We moved in August 2020 and from that day on we noticed some unpleasant surprises about the property. - The gym was closed for 2 months with no amenity fee reimbursement. - The amenities closes at 7pm everyday because the maintenance staff leaves work at 7pm. This does not give the residents who work from home late or travel from work enough time to enjoy the amenities. - The apartment appliances and paint on the walls are cheap. Our cabinet door in the bathroom suddenly came off, the paint on the walls are easily damaged with 1 touch and our shower faucet broke while I was taking a shower. - the bedroom door constantly becomes loose and squeaky. -There is not enough guest parking. - The elevators are ALWAYS broke you have to walk through the garage to get out the building. - you have to pay an extra amenity fee for the business center. (Non sound proof private rooms, and this amenity fee can be added at anytime but not removed). - if you don't live on the top floor, you will hear your neighbors foot steps above you. Which is very disturbing. - While in the business center, I can hear the weights from the gym banging from the first floor. Mind you the business center is on the second floor. -The management experience can be much better. The maintenance team RJ and Kevin makes this experience worth it because they are always helping and making sure the residents are comfortable. Some Pros to the building are: - Luxe package - the residents - transportation -A lot of cabinet space - Quiet - The apartment is not half bad, one of the nicest apartments I have seen. - A few great restaurants and stores in the neighborhood. - Linden Clark and Elizabeth is 5 minutes away and you have access to ShopRite, Target, Starbucks, Homegoods, Wholefoods and other great stores. -The trash rooms are surprisingly clean.

Apartment amenities include heat, hot-water, water, sewage and car parking. Dumpsters are cleared out regularly. The apartments upstairs can get noisy because the rule to cover the floor with carpet is not enforced strictly enough, but thats not a lot of bother for me. Economical stay!
