Staff are all super helpful. Views are amazing. Wish there was more dialogue from the engineer with regard to what we might have been seeing on the train ride as there were a few things set up in the woods along the rail path. Definitely spotted Sasquatch a few times. This isn't a stop I would make more than once though unless going with someone who hasn't experienced it before.

Cool experience, especially for kids. The train ride itself is fun and scenic, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I was a little confused by the name though. It was not actually a loop when we went. The train went up the mountain and then came back down the same way. Maybe it only runs as a loop at certain times. Still, it is a great attraction in Georgetown and a wholesome outing for families.

As part of our tour, here we are finally getting on a train ride! The organizers of Georgetown was very organized. I can count several window seats have glass shield (windows), most of them are long benches with open windows. It can get very window, and me having short sleeves and a bolero and long pleated skirt, I'm fine. The ride was one hour total. It was amazing to see the various trees, sites, river and around the loop. The outside decor are gearing up for Halloween & the North Pole, I can just imagine how happy the little ones would be, when it's all lighted up!

Visiting the Georgetown Loop Railroad was the perfect way to give my family (in from Florida) a true "Colorado stamp" during their trip. The ride itself was engaging from start to finish, with plenty of history, scenic views, and that unique charm you only get in the Rockies. This is absolutely a family-friendly activity--everyone in our group had a great time. It's not just a train ride; it's an experience that connects you to Colorado's mining past while giving you unforgettable mountain views. If you're looking for something fun, easy, and memorable to do with family or friends, this is it. I would definitely recommend the Georgetown Loop Railroad to anyone wanting an authentic slice of Colorado.

The Georgetown Loop Railroad Christmas train was just perfect for the small ones (ages 2-8). They saw Santa and put their wish list orders in early. The train ride lasts about an hour; the loop is decorated with festive lights and holiday themed silhouettes along the scenic mountain way. Beverage service was prompt and friendly. We had a great time and would recommend to all those with small children or even for children of all ages.

We came from Florida to visit family and wanted to experience some Colorado history. This tour was great! We did the train ride, mine exploration and panning for gold. The scenery was beautiful, it was educational and a day well spent!

Friendly staff Train trip was short and not much at either station but it was fun trip. We walked around the historic area below. We were glad we paid a little more for the parlor car which came with better seats and lots of free snacks, water and soda. Wine was $11 for a plastic cup full.

Breathtaking views. Wow, how incredible, very nice weather and stunning views! Couldn't really hear the person talking over the speakers since we were seated in an outside cart but it didn't matter since the views were spectacular. We did the fall train I did notice they have some themed ones which sound fun. Would definitely go back and try one of those!

Great experience. Wife and I stopped here heading to Denver and glad we did. So much fun! Was pretty busy so buy tickets online.

For families with young kids, the Georgetown Loop at Christmas can become one of your holiday traditions. It's charming, picturesque, and they have amazing Santas every year. Our family has done this for the past three years, and I'm sure we'll continue going for as long as our kids will go. A few tips: - Show up about 10-15 minutes before your time. You need to park, pick up your ticket, and hit the bathroom before you can get on the train. - Ask for a bell in the gift shop when you pick up your tickets. - Book a ticket in one of the better cars. It's worth the difference in price to have assigned seats and snacks for the ride, especially if you have kids. - Get your tickets in August when tickets go on sale and have your pick of any day you want.

What an amazingly beautiful awesome day we had today at Georgetown Loop Railroad and mines. The steam train ride is about 45 minutes to an hour. Then if you buy tickets for the mine tour that's an additional hour. Beware the mine is about 42 degrees all year round and it's so cold in there you can actually see your breath. We had a very funny guide named John David. He totally made our experience in mine a delight. He was full of knowledge about the miners and mine itself. The best part though was when Mark got to actually ride in the steam locomotive to film. This place is a true treasure. Stop by and have some fun!

Oct 2024 - Amazing time riding the Georgetown Loop Train, we caught the train at the Silver Plume depot This wknd Oct 5th-6th was their pumpkin fest, each child was given a trick-or-treat bag w/ a few goodies inside, nice touch ! Adult tickets are $38 & kids ages (1 to 16) are $32. They have a gift shop as well. Weather was perfect, scenery was sublime and the ride was fun !

UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW (I know this is a few years later): I originally posted out of frustration after getting fresh paint on my jeans from a train seat and not hearing back right away. Since then, Georgetown Loop Railroad reached out, explained the train had been recently painted, and ultimately made things right. They refunded the cost of the train ride and sent a check to replace the jeans that were damaged. While the response wasn't immediate at the time, the issue was resolved fairly, and I'm updating this review to reflect that.

This is a great hike not too far outside Denver. I found out about this trail thanks to my "60…read morehikes within 60 miles" book. An aside-- I found that book in Barnes and Noble and impulsively decided to buy it. It's been a fabulous purchase! Some of you CO natives are probably rolling your eyes at me, but I've found a ton of lesser known hikes (as well as some very common ones) thanks to this book-- the most recent of which being Hell's Hole. Hell's Hole trail leads into Mt. Evans Wilderness about 30 min into the hike. About 20 minutes prior to this, there's a little stand where you must self register for a wilderness permit. There is no fee for this, it's basically just a way for the park service to keep track of info. The trailhead is off CO-103 on a pretty obscure road, West Chicago Creek. It gets pretty sketchy towards the end (very narrow road winding up a steep mountain with no guardrails...as long as I live here I'll never understand CO's aversion to guardrails in places like this) but it's well worth it. There's a campground near the trail head as well. The hike itself is a great workout with shade in the beginning and gorgeous views towards the end. Horses and dogs are welcome on the trail; mountain bikes are not permitted. The book I have estimated the total hike time to be 4.5 hours but I was pleasantly surprised to discover it only took me 3 hours, including a 30 min break at the turn around point and a couple photo/water opps. Obviously the hike time will vary for everyone; I guess the important thing to know is that it's 9 miles round trip. Though the hike is relatively long, it's not incredibly difficult. There are definitely some fairly steep portions, but a lot of it is at a relatively gentle incline. It seems like a fairly lightly used trail-- in the whole 3 hours I ran into about 3 other couples. It was really nice to enjoy the solitude, but also somewhat reassuring to know there were people somewhat nearby-- if you're hiking alone, like I was, it's always good to be aware! The trail ends in an open field with a creek nearby. It's around the treeline and you can see a couple fourteeners towering over you in this beautiful post-glacier valley. Definitely an ideal picnic spot! This trail is out-and-back, so once you've had enough of the scenery, it's time to pack it in and do it all over again!

One of the guides, Pete contacted us as was absolutely amazing. We learned about him taking his grandson fishing and even about his dog. Pete was in constant contact making sure we had all the info, directions as there is very poor cell service where we will be fishing. We even decided to bring special treats for his dog. The trip is scheduled for tomorrow and we are so excited, all our gear is laid out including 3 bags of dog treats. My wife and I left multiple messages with Golden River Sports saying it was for Travis explaining we were extremely happy about how wonderful Pete the guide for Wednesday is but not a word from the guide for Thursday. After days of no phone calls from Travis or GRS I called and explained we are not comfortable or happy about the lack of professional conduct from Thursday's guide or GRS so cancel Thursday but we are excited about how great the guide for Wednesday is. On Tuesday We finally get a call from Travis and he says has no clue about any of this he was just confirming our booking. I explained there is a big issue with professionalism and communication with GRS and we canceled Thursday but were very excited and were very impressed with Wednesday guide Pete. He stated " thank you for bringing this to my attention but I don't feel comfortable about sending my guide out with you. I said I'm just bringing this to your attention and love working with Pete. He said he was canceling our trip! At this point now I'm mad! I try to help this guy and tell him we have no problem with Pete and it's your company that has the problem. I then stated I better not see one penny charged on my credit card!!!so we drove here from Iowa, rented an Airbnb waiting to go on our bucket list fly fishing trip and paid all this money to squeeze in 2 days of fishing. Not only does Adventures in Whitewater offer lunch on the river, but we also stopped at a cliff from which you can jump off 25 feet into the water. For anyone who wants to try cliffjumping but also wants it to be safe, this one's for you. There was also a smaller cliff for those a little less daring. We took the 'beginning to moderate' river tour, but due to low rainfall was disappointingly uneventful (June 2013), kind of like tubing down a river really, with very few rapids. Fortunately that was the only disappointing part of Adventures in Whitewater. These guys are pros, everything was well coordinated and a bucket of fun.
