Sommer apologized for the upholsterer running late and asked me to return in the afternoon. She called me around 11:45 am, while I was on a thread mill. We agreed that I could show up at 2:00 pm. I showed up around 1;30 pm. Work to my seat covers was completed around 2:30 pm. Sommer did not charge me because I was inconvenienced. That was her words. Here are my words. I own a 1964 Thunderbird that is definitely a project car. It's sad that many area shops seem to…read moredo shabby work, with an attitude that they couldn't care less about my "piece of junk." One day I had a good talk with Don, owner of Hoyt's, and he was VERY interested in this car's restoration. He suggested the work be broken up into smaller sessions, then I can drive the car for awhile and bring it back later for more -- EXACTLY what I wanted to hear! First session -- completely replace the rusted-out trunk and gas tank. Ben, the body guy, had to fabricate much of the sheet metal, so it was NOT an easy job. The work was FANTASTIC! It even smelled like a new car! Next session involved new floor pans, carpeting, and a complete rebuild of the steering column. Don suggested at that time to repaint the hood, top, and trunk, as it was badly oxidized and peeling. Transformed this junker into a show car! Not finished yet, I want them to reupholster the seats and replace door panels., and first opportunity I want them to do just that. Meanwhile this former clunker is now turning heads! Thank you!

I'm not sure why the original driver's seat cover started deteriorating, but with OEM replacement parts and this business's expert staff, we said bye-bye to that crummy old leather, and hello to a brand new seat. It's even more comfortable than the original. I did purchase the OEM seat covers myself, and my installation appointment was made a couple months down the road, but now I understand why. Russ and team are just that good.
