An amazing place with a skilled and competent barber. It's been 4 yrs since I've last visited him and wished I didn't live so far over the years, but now within reasonable distance, I walked in to be informed its an appointment only operation due to the pandemic. However he squeezed me in before the next customer and pulled it off perfectly. $20 for a haircut in cash, though with that experience, I made sure he received an appropriate tip. Was looking for a friendly neighborhood barber in Etobicoke to replace the guys I'd been going to for the past 15 years (they retired), and was extremely happy to find George's! I lucked in to a quiet time, before 10 on a Friday, and was able to get taken care of right away. Evidently it gets busy soon after, according to George. I really enjoyed the fact that he had AMC channel playing the 'Ghosts of Mississippi' movie - super relaxing to watch Alec Baldwin in his prime while getting yourself spiffed up! The cut was great, traditional style with a straight razor to tidy up the sides and back. No unnecessary fuss or frills, I was immediately at ease and felt relaxed there. George is a very pleasant and self-effacing guy, I mentioned that the Yelp reviews were terrific, and he was super thankful - he said he didn't want to look in case he jinxed it! I don't think there's much chance of that - this is my new local barber now :-) read more

Been going to George for a bout 4 years now. This guy is great, friendly and super accommodating. Makes you feel like VIP no matter what day it is. His haircuts are a great deal and he goes the extra mile to make your experience special. Old school razor shave and clean with hot foam to add to the mix which is a super nice touch and always look forward to. TVs to watch and good conversation. You can't ask for more from a barber shop. Will be coming here for a long time as long as George stays put :) this man knows customer service 100% Keep the neighbourhood alive! What I dont like is price gouging on mens hair And I definitely dont like an hour of talking with other coworkers and you spend 5 minutes on my hair and think you did a great job. I've gone to George for haircuts ever since I moved to Mimico in 2011. He was at Pat's barber shop across the street from SanRemo bakery but moved down to his own shop a little further south on Royal York. Always had great consistent haircuts from George. George is a great guy, never has a bad day (or at least doesnt show it) so it's always a treat to stop by for a cut. The hot foam around the back of the neck and sideburns is a nice touch. Atmosphere at the shop is great, good conversation, cool pictures & posters on the wall, and usually some classic 80's comedies playing on the TV. While the experience George's has that traditional barbershop feel, where it stands out from the past is the inclusion of free wifi. Nice touch, George. I've been looking for a good barber for years in the Mimico area. Up until now I have been using a salon. The problem was that they had constant change in staff and it was impossible to get a consistent hair cut. George is a great guy (speaks six languages) and cuts hair with scissors (clippers around the sides) and knows how to take care of customers. Good fifty's music makes a wait OK. Too bad he doesn't take appointments, but being a one man shop I can see that it would be too difficult. There isn't too much street parking, but a huge lot around back of MacDonald St. read more

Great place where to get attentive and traditional service. As soon as you walk in it feels like you just got to your uncle's place to get a haircut. Where nowadays barbershop are getting sophisticated where steep price only bring you glitters along with just a regular cut and a treatment like if you were a number, here is like stepping into the old fashioned barber shop, family feeling where the barber recognize you even if you got there once. After moving here in summer 2013 I found George online and was happy he was in the area with repeat customers. My First Cut-I was shocked that he missed a large chunk of hair on the crown of my head entirely. I went back to have it trimmed and he said "it was left so that the hairs dont stand up after cutting them." Second Cut- I was hesitant but after friends kept suggesting, I gave him another shot thinking the first time might have just been a one time thing. After asking to take some off the top and clean up the sides he proceeded to use only thinning shears and again left a large amount of hair untouched on the back half of my head. After that I received two cuts with the straight razor- all for just 15$. I would be a fool to go a third time. Its hard to find inexpensive barbers in Toronto but it seems you get what you pay for. read more

No appointments so you can expect a wait at peak times as it's first come first served. Best haircut in the west! George has been my go to for four years now. I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else. Good prices, good conversation, great haircuts, free parking and all the banter of an old-school barbershop. All that's missing is the red and white pole out front and some vintage Playboys. You'll get the back of your neck and your sideburns done with a straight razor, your eyebrows, ear hair and even your nose hair trimmed, he'll use a vintage head massager to stimulate your scalp and this is after he's cut your hair. George's is what having a haircut should be - a pleasure, not a chore. He does great work with small children as well as adults, there's always a friendly atmosphere and you'll walk out looking ten times better than you did walking in. All the men folk in my family swear by George's. They always come out happy: with the haircuts, the conversation (hockey of course) and of course, the price. My husband really likes that George just knows what suits him so all my husband has to do is sit in the chair and talk hockey.
