There was no contract - I paid with cash. The case ended up requiring a follow-up court date - since there was no contract, he charged me the same fee as the first time. He didn't obtain any of the police records. He didn't perform any background searches on my opponent. My opponent's attorney arrived prepared with these documents. When I asked him why he hadn't done any of this - he told me that he was trying to help me save money. He told me I would need to provide any such documents to him. I had to pay to have these things done on my own time and bring the documents to him for our follow-up court date. I overheard my opponent and her attorney discussing their previous meetings and expected questions. He never prepared me for any line of questioning (him or opposing counsel). Afterwards, I asked him if we could meet before the second court date and he replied 'Sure. Call my office and schedule the appointment.' I'm happy that I won - but I am unhappy with the service I received. Additionally, I regret that I went into this without a contract. Once a follow-up date was deemed necessary, I felt very vulnerable regarding what he would charge me and I was afraid to consider another attorney for the follow-up. I learned a tough lesson. Ultimately, I am happy that it was a victory - but if I should ever need an attorney again - I would look elsewhere.

I trusted them with the safety of my child and the outcome of my custody case, and they failed me at every step. Sam Smith personally sold me on her "hands-on" approach, but after retaining the firm, she never touched my case again. Not once. Even after repeated requests for her attendance at hearings, only Kira showed up, despite Sam being the one whose services I was promised and paid for. Their handling of evidence was unforgivable. I provided multiple notarized affidavits, photos, recordings, and documentation of my ex-husband's substance abuse disorder, none of which were submitted to the court. As a direct result of this negligence, I now share 50/50 custody with a parent who poses safety concerns to our child. This outcome could have been prevented had they done the most basic part of their job. They also submitted my divorce documents late, which unnecessarily extended my case by four months. At no point did they take responsibility for this delay. The professional conduct was just as disturbing. During a charged and vulnerable phone meeting, Kira yelled at me and victim‑blamed me, saying: "Well, you shouldn't have married a drug addict." That was her legal "guidance" as I was trying to advocate for my child's safety. They provided me with an incorrect holiday schedule, which caused an incident where my ex‑husband abused his time. Because their schedule didn't match the court order, enforcement was impossible. This is basic family‑law competence, and they failed it. I later learned, through other attorneys and court personnel, about several crucial protections that could have been included in my custody agreement: stipulations for communication, consequences for violations, safety conditions, and specific parental responsibilities. None of these were ever offered, suggested, or even discussed. They simply did the bare minimum. I never met either attorney in person. Communication was inconsistent, sometimes disappearing for long periods, and Kira even called me during vacations with abrupt and unpleasant demands. At one hearing, she provoked the judge and made the situation worse. I drafted the distribution‑of‑assets outline myself, and they inserted it verbatim into the judgment with no advisement, no professional guidance, and no required financial stipulations (timelines, interest, consequences for nonpayment). Again, I did the work; they collected the fee. These lawyers failed to protect me, failed to protect my child, and failed to uphold even the minimum standards of competent legal representation. I regret ever hiring them, and I strongly urge anyone considering them to look elsewhere.

Sometimes they are for a day, sometimes they may last a week or two. There are moments where there are potential long term assignments. However, those don't come by too often. The pay is weekly, and they are quick about fixing errors on your check. If you have a car, there are more opportunities for you here. Jobs are usually between $9.25 and $12.00 per hour. It's a great place for people trying hard to find a job but can't because of certain things on their record. My only issue is the wait time. However, that's to be expected; so I can't complain too much. That's why I gave them only four stars. Other than that, it's a great place to get a few buck for a while until you find a job. Word of advice: as long as you go to work and keep Minute Men posted on any issues and changes, you will be fine. Once you start leaving the job site without notifying Minute Men's knowledge, they will not help you anymore. They MUST be notified, and they recommend you finish out the day before quitting. I would recommend it to people trying to make ends meet until they find something and for people that may have a record and trying to start over.

The attorney that handled my divorce and first child custody case let my ex-wife and her lawyer walk all over me and gave them whatever they wanted. Tim was the opposite. He took the time to meet me and my son's maternal uncle (his mother's brother) before he would even accept the case. I thought that was awesome because in reality he didn't know me or whether I was being honest in bringing a custody motion against my ex-wife. He does have a regular startup fee but asked me if I could afford it. That made me realize he is not motivated by money unlike my previous attorney. Tim was always prepared for court and never laid down and accepted what my ex-wife and her attorney wanted. He really cared what happened with my son and was a true advocate for him. I believe Tim was such a great representative for me and my son because he is such a compassionate and empathetic individual. He would spend hours preparing me and my witnesses before each hearing to try to ensure that the outcome would be in my son's best interest. I know he never charged me for all the time he would spend on my case. I don't know if this is a regular practice with Tim but I truly appreciated this because I am just a simple working class man. I feel the need to point out that Tim is an honest lawyer. I realize that lawyers often get a bad rap and most lawyers are considered dirty but Tim is not among them. He is a devout Christian and it shows. He feels that what he does is in service to God and families. I value this characteristic even though I am not a Christian and do not have the same religious beliefs. He has earned my respect and friendship for how he represented me and my son. Because of this, I have contacted Tim a couple of times since he originally represented me when I have a legal question. He would give me advice and my options over the phone and I would ask him what I owed him and his answer was "nothing" because he feels he was giving advice to a friend. Of course, my questions did not lead to a motion with family court. He is a great attorney and awesome man!! I highly recommend Tim to anyone who wants an ethical and credible attorney.
