Despite being promised a "standard" case with guaranteed outcomes regarding my 50/50 custody goals, they did nothing but drain my finances and drop me as a client one week before mediation because I hit a financial hurdle after breaking my hand at work. Key Issues I Experienced: * Lack of Consistency: I was passed from Christine White to Braden Finch. I was told Christine was let go for not providing a strong defense, yet I was still billed $4,500 for her minimal work. * Excessive Billing: Braden Finch charged me nearly $3,000 primarily for reading messages on the "MyCase" app. He assured me we would handle the balance later so I could focus on mediation costs, only for Daniel Finley to drop my case the moment he returned to the office. * Empty Promises: I was told my out-of-state custody situation wouldn't be an issue and was "guaranteed" results. Instead, I am out $7,700 with no resolution and no attorney. * Ignored Concerns: I raised concerns about overbilling to the front desk (Molly) multiple times. I was told the bills would be reviewed, but the only "review" I received was a withdrawal of representation. This firm felt more like a money-mill than a legal defense. If you don't think FILING A CRUCIAL RESPONSE ON THE WRONG CASE is mishandling something, that clearly demonstrates your ineptitude and unwillingness to accept responsibility. Jeff McCarty was completely oblivious that the judge did not have the document during the hearing, and the consequences were disastrous. The error would have gone undiscovered if I hadn't known how to check the register of actions - and when I wrote Jeff about the gaffe, he ignored me. When I wrote a second time holding Amanda to task for the misfiling, he suddenly cared - about her. Jeff had been unprepared as usual, including the time we had to track him down for a hearing and he was clearly disoriented when he appeared. There was the time Jeff changed the hearing date and forgot to tell me. And the time I called Amanda and she thought my file had been closed, because of Jeff's dawdling. The case got off to a bad start because Jeff wasn't prepared and wasn't sharp enough to challenge the opposing party's dishonest testimony before FOC. He was provided concrete evidence of the perjury and failed to seek immediately, or ever, sanctions and attorney fees. The ABA writes "perhaps no professional shortcoming is more widely resented than procrastination. A client's interests often can be adversely affected by the passage of time or the change of conditions." Jeff had an ethical duty to zealous advocacy and failed. The last thing I asked you for was a final billing, which I requested multiple times over months. I never received it. According to the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board web site, Jeff was appointed to represent a woman in a claim for Social Security Widow's Benefits, and it was found he sought to charge an illegal fee, and in a collection suit filed against her, he failed inform the court that he had previously agreed that he would not charge or receive any fee unless authorized in accordance with the Social Security laws and regulations. This is consistent with the lack of integrity I experienced and he's found a home at Rasor. You took $15,000 from me and failed to help me advocate for my kids who have suffered emotional abuse. As if your lack of humanity for children who had their innocence destroyed weren't reprehensible enough, you have chosen to attack me with foolish innuendo. If I send 5 messages, I get one answer after a long period of time. Then one day, to my surprise this lawyer gave me a rude reply that I have never expected from him. That reply stops me sending message, email or any kind of further communication with them. He wrote: ""Dear Mr. Hasan: You have exceeded the number of questions allowed in your fee. You have made over 100 contacts with us. Many of your inquiries are not within the scope of our work and are unnecessary. If you going to go to USCIS website and make up questions, we are not prepared to answer them. Your case is being processed at a normal pace. All additional inquiries, questions, e-mails and phone calls will incur $20 charge each time (from now on). If you do not pay, we will withdraw from your case."" Well, he could tell me that in proper way. What kind of professionalism is that? Instead he threatened me with charging $20 for each message/email. He also threatened to withdraw the case. If you cannot answer/handle your client, you better change your profession. I paid you to answer my questions, understand? If I knew the process I would have been filed by my own. I wouldn't hire you. Then again when the case was approved he started to behave nicely. He texts and emails me almost everyday. At the end he begged me to give him a 5 star review. Unbelievable! You got this! This lawyer was good in the past but nowadays he became greedy, very poor at communication, take the case longer than expected. Find a better lawyer than him.
