Amazing dentist and staff are all awesome. I had this office recommended to my family by an endo who had done some work on my spouse and who said he would do some of the more minor work. Dr. Ambus was terrific and really does care about his patients. I was so impressed with the quality of work I elected to pay out of pocket for a cleaning I needed during the height of the pandemic when Noriega Dental refused to see me (yet still billed my HMO for me as a customer. Nice.). My cleaning and exam (not needed but done anyhow and appreciated) was great. Very thorough and detailed. I really can't complain at all about this office. Dr. Ambus is, by far, the best dentist I've ever known (and since I'm 54 years old, that's really saying something)! I was looking for a dentist who accepted Delta Dental PPO, and found Dr. Ambus in their directory. Getting to his office is super-easy: Just a bit down the El Camino off Interstate 380. One thing I've always believed is that I can tell how good a place is by the demeanor of its staff. I can honestly say I've rarely seen a place with higher morale and professionalism. Dr. Ambus himself embodies his office's atmosphere with the same affability and professionalism. The one thing that truly amazed me was his ability to explain procedures clearly and concisely. Additionally, he would take frequent X-rays and high-definition pictures of my teeth to show me what he was doing as he was doing it! No other dentist I visited previously has done this. My last visit was to get a cavity filled, but it turned into a root canal procedure. Since I'd never had a root canal, Dr. Ambus explained (clearly and concisely!) what this would entail. I had, up until this point, always heard other people regale me with their woes about root canals, so I was understandably apprehensive. However, Dr. Ambus showed genuine empathy and professionalism at the same time he showed me my X-rays and hi-res tooth photos during the entire procedure, which didn't hurt one bit. I was nervous about pain as the anesthetic wore off, but there was none whatsoever. In fact, I actually wound up feeling *better* than I did beforehand! I even got a follow-up call from his office the next morning to see how I was feeling. So, in sum, Dr. Ambus is my new favorite dentist bar none! read more

Dr. George Ambus is as good as it gets. I just recently paid him a visit and contemplated on how grateful I am that my wife chose him as her dentist. Shortly after he became mine. His caring and professional staff both young and old have remained throughout the years which says a lot. They've always treated us and fellow patients as far as I can tell like family. One of the best things about Dr. Ambus is that he explains every detail of work always. He's always quick to pass me a mirror during explanations or when going over plans and an explanation of my xrays. I feel as though I've taken a crash course in dental school. If you wan't to keep your gums and teeth healthy and you don't want be just another number to an old stick in the mud and if you want to keep your partner and your children happy than give Doc. Ambus a try I think you will be just as happy as we are that we chose the right family dentist. Finally he's masterful with a needle and his instruments. We have had 3 dentists over the years, but Dr. Ambus is the best by far. Also, his staff is really good. Earlier today, on Labor Day Holiday, because I had an infected back tooth and a lot of pain, Dr. Ambus came into his office to perform a root canal that took 1 3/4 hours. I try my best to avoid the dentist; even at my own detriment but during the pandemic I had to deal with on and off severe tooth pain that could no longer be ignored. I needed a dentist and Dr. Ambus graciously found time for me when most dentists were closed. He dealt with a double root canal like it was business as usual. He was quick, efficient and understanding of my tooth fears. It's been a week since my rc and everyone warned me it could fail or cause severe pain. I've experienced neither. Finding a good dentist is hard, but I am glad I was recommended to Dr. Ambus by a family member. The dental office accepted UnitedHealthCare PPO and was easy to get to from my house. When I made my first appointment, the staff was very nice and informative. If anything changed, like getting an earlier appointment, they immediately notified me. The registration process was online, so I was able to complete everything beforehand which saved me a lot of time! After I arrived, the wait time was short and the dental hygenist called me in. Christine did an amazing job cleaning my teeth and explaining how I can protect them from long-term damage. Once the cleaning process was completed, Dr. Ambus tasked me if there was anything I was concerned about or wanted to change. I let him know that my previous sealants wore off and another doctor quoted me $1200 for fillings. Dr. Ambus reassured me that it was not necessary and guided me through the process. We agreed on adding new sealants in the future and it was covered under insurance! It is safe to say I will continue to come back to The Ambus Family Dentistry. read more
