I had the very fortunate pleasure using Boulders Ambulatory Surgery Center for a complete hip…read morereplacement. I first had the ability to fill out all necessary paperwork online with receiving a text message and email confirmation. I was then contacted by wonderful, friendly and professional members of the staff to set up my pre-operation appointment.
My pre-operation appointment was held with-in (10) ten minutes of the scheduled time. I watched an explanation video of the pre-operation, operation, post operation, physical therapy and follow up calls and appointments. I was also provided a detailed, explanatory 18 page manual with visual graphics during the explanation video where I could take notes, ask questions after the video and allowed to take the comprehensive manual home for further review. The manual provided the physical address information, phone numbers and email addresses where I could contact the staff if I had any future questions or concerns. The registered nurse who's specialty is a Total Joint Coordinator was extremely knowledgeable of the entire process and was able answer any questions I had right in the meeting.
Also, at the pre-operation appointment I was introduced to the doctor who was going to be my anesthesiologist. He went into great detail of his process and procedure before, during and after the operation thus, answering any questions or concerns I had once again in great detail.
I was also provided physical therapy information so, I could set my pre-appointment where I was fitted with a very high quality walker and set many future appointments after the operation. The staff at the physical therapy location was kind, considerate, accommodating and very professional.
I received a call from one of the friendly staff members a couple of days before the hip replacement procedure advising me my that some of the costs would not be covered by my insurance company. The staff member suggested that a charitable organization they are associated with would cover my out of pocket expenses. So, I went through less than a (5) five minute interview and was qualified to receive the funds from the charitable organization. Just how awesome is that to have those connections. I also started receiving text message notifications from my pharmacy that all post-operation prescriptions orders had been placed by the anesthesiologist. This also gave time to verify the prescriptions with the pharmacy before the operation. I also had time to discover there was one prescription that had not been approved my my insurance company with out speaking the surgery center. The surgery center staff in less than an hour started the communication process with my insurance company, providing requested documents and getting the prescription approved.
A day before the surgery I was contacted by the surgery center staff, they went over with me the times, processes and procedures and verified which hip I was having replaced.
The day of the operation, they were right on time. I had no less than (4) four nurses check on me before and after the operation. I don't want try and remember them all so, not to leave any one name out, just to say they were awesome. My orthopedic surgeon from Ortho Virginia, Dr. Barton Harris and my anesthesiologist, Dr. Joseph Krajewski both came in and once again went over in detail the procedure. I was asked no less than (6) six times by multiple staff, nurses and doctors to verify my name, date of birth and which hip I was having replaced to the point, Dr. Harris who signed my left hip thus, no confusions or mix ups of which one it was to be replace and answered my question of how many hip replacement surgeries he performs a week, he advised between (20) twenty to (28) twenty-eight. Fifteen (15) minutes after the surgery, I was up and walking around with my walker. I a little stiffness and soreness but, I had no problem walking out of the surgery center using the walker, getting in the car and once home getting up the steps to the house. I also felt very confident that the replacement hip was mostly made out of titanium one of the hardest and most reliable metals on the planet. The time that I am writing this accommodation letter is 10:00 pm and my hip replacement was completed earlier today at 12:00, noon.
Ortho Virginia and Boulders Ambulatory Surgery Center are top notch professionals from the staff all the way to the doctors / physicians with all being kind, courteous, knowledgeable, accommodating and efficient. If your medical / health insurance does not for some reason cover medical treatment though these 2 (two) medical facilities, it would be in your best interest to go get some that does.
