I've been waiting over a year to write this review. I hate I waited so long, but was SO UPSET I was…read moreafraid my review would be super biased. Then we kept finding issues and we'd take photos to post to yelp, and it was good to know I had this outlet to be heard. Alas, a death in the family, ending a 14 yr relationship, a landlord who ended up pricing me out, and all the things called life, I haven't written this review. So, now. A year later, I am. Hopefully things have gotten better since ... but here is what happened to us.
When our property management company picked Pro Bilt, it was the beginning to an absolute nightmare on top of a nightmare! Not only were we dealing with black mold and mushrooms growing in our home from a broken water heater, but the back door and some other property issues were also going to be replaced. See, in order to GET the mold handled, after 2months of calls to Regency Property Mgmt, and nothing being done, we had to call the city inspector, who found multiple issues on the property not up to code. So, the city gives them (landlord) 60 days to fix everything before coming back out to inspect again.
Day 52, Pro Bilt calls us and wants to set up everything for coming to work on a cpl issues in the house. I explained some problems we were having with our landlord on having contractors just showing up and coming inside our home with no warning or 24 hour notice. We have pets. Mark promised us nothing like that would happen, and it would just be a day or two they needed to be there. I felt confident he understood what had been going on over the last 12 weeks in the home and that he would follow through. He was very polite on the phone.
I had a emergency trip out of state and called ProBilt to confirm details for the following day and got to the airport. Everything was a go. Well... until it wasn't. They never showed up the next day, where my roommate had called off work and sat waiting at the house. No calls, no returned calls until almost 7pm where we got some excuse about getting lost and not having directions. The following day when my roommate got home at 330pm, THEY WERE INSIDE OUR HOME. NO NOTICE. NOTHING. We had bras and panties hanging in the bathroom/laundry room/water heater room, and 3 men inside just working away. The cat is no where to be found, there is mud and sticky tape all over the front door, that was left open. Gross rusty, moldy bits lay everywhere directly on the floor. The smell was musty and hard to breathe and my toothbrush is feet away from grossness and underwear are totally exposed to these strangers, which may not matter to you (and thats great!) but mattered to us. My roommate was mortified and started freaking out about not being able to find the cat. I called from out of state and was VERY upset with Mark and told him how disappointed we were and that he didn't do anything he said he would do. That he gave us no notice. He was agitated and quick to hang up, and didn't want to answer any of my questions. He was not the nice guy I had just talked to days prior. They worked on various things around the property for almost a WEEK, parking in our spots, leaving their supplies everywhere overnight in our backyard. It was not just a day or two.
When I returned I couldn't believe what I saw and what I was finding around the driveway and backyard. We found pcs of used broken trim and siding tossed behind a large tree. They put the back screen door on backwards. BACKWARDS! They left the blue tape on the door jam and all throughout the house, written on it, things like, "Kareful Pleeeeaze." "Watch out, you kids mess up new paint !'' We found 11 nails all throughout the driveway over the next few weeks. One was in my friends bike tire. When we called about it, no return call. Ever.
They left their huge commercial caulking (*snickers*) gun hanging from our window trim outside. Broken tree limbs, and then just left in the yard. Boot tracks all over our carpet. Bent and dented gutters. Paint spilled on bathroom floor. A hole on the inside of the water heater door. If all that wasn't enough, the smoke alarm installed was already a YEAR PAST ITS EXPIRATION DATE. ONE FULL YEAR. A one time use dectector. I mean... I can't even.
That is the only photo I still have to show... the nails, the trees, paint, were on the roommates pc that I don't talk to any longer. I'll keep looking update if found. Shotty, cheap, work.
I thought them showing up with no notice was bad, but finding all the hazardous bits and cleaning the mess left behind was worse. Use with caution.
Oh yeah. We found the cat. She had gotten outside and was hiding at the neighbors.
THANK goodness!
