Gentle is FARRRR from how I would describe our experience at this clinic. The doctor has no bedside manner and is quick to blame the child (yes, a child) and the parent and quick to offer anesthesia in the hospital as an option. Had a close friend who is a dentist, look at my sons scans, and basically laughed at the idea that they are so quick to rush to the most expensive option. I think this doctor should work on adults. She is not quipped to work with children and I get it, who wants to deal with kids, but even as an adult the dentist can be a scary place and this doctor and her staff have completely traumatized my poor child. Needless to say we'll be switching to another pediatric dentist, one that perhaps enjoys working with children and doesn't resort to telling a child they are a "bad kid" and "disturbing other kids who are good". I was reluctant to make this post because I was made to feel at the office that it was only my child who has ever behaved this way but after reading some of the other reviews. I know it's not me or my kid, it's definitely this practice and their lack of preparation when it comes to working on children, their lack of empathy, and their lack of a competent staff. read more

I took my daughter there for a teeth cleaning on Saturday and she left with popped blood vessels and brusing on her neck! Since she is high anxiety they brought her to the back room and had to strap her down and hold her down! Dr. Blau was just horrible telling her to stop and just treating her like crap as if she isn't freaking out enough! I'm asking her why my daughter's eyes have red dots around them she was quick to ignore me finally I told them to stop I unstrapped my kid and pretty much ran like he'll to get into the wsiting room and notice my kids face and neck with marks! When I called the office back asking for her medical records from that day they refused to give me them and when I explained to the dental assistant what was going on she told me not to send my child to school or have her wear a high turtle neck! The Dr. Couldn't or wouldn't even talk to me!!! This place is absolutely horrible NEVER WILL I RETURN NOR REFER ANYONE HERE EVER! EVERYONE WORKING THERE IS JUST CRAPPY! read more

Their dental cleaning services are ok. No complaint there. But be careful with their office staff specially related to Insurance. They don't have transparency. Not sure intentionally or unintentionally they hide information and perform the dental services and later they will generate the invoice saying not covered by insurance or they are not in-network all of sudden. I would give this place a minus star if I can. Absolutely WORST dental practice I have ever set foot in. I have had a full spectrum of dental trauma my whole life: dentist, oral surgeon, orthodontics, I have seen them all. Yes, bad teeth runs in the damily. However, I have never seen any business this messed up. The Dr Blau we had was female, I read some 5 star reviews below for a male Dr Blau. The Dr Blau we met was very cold, and wanted to put my 14 month old under general anaesthesia to fill in a surface cavity. No bedside manner. We were there for over half hour, spent 7 to 10 with the doctor, and the rest with the office manager. Her bimbo of an "office manager" played accounting and threw random number at us when we walked out. We were charged $300 for the check up and cleaning (we had no dental insurance.) The so-called service included no x-ray just visual examination while the dentist kept ORDERING me to pin down my 14 month old and a round if dental vitamins. The "office manager" also threw us a string of numbers for the cost "cost of x amount per tooth, cost of x amount for anaesthesia per tooth, hospital cost , etc." We asked the manager to list the costs on paper (up to $6000 total unless my math was wrong), her response,"The numbers aren't different than the numbers I am telling you now!" So this practice counts the cavity on each tooth as 2-3 BC they "touch each other"and wanted to charge us 6 teeth total BC my son's cavities covered 2 teeth and 1 spot between 2 other teeth. So 6× (up to $300/toothfilling, minimum $180/ tooth for funny gas) $700 min. hospital service fee for dentist to perform the work at a hospital, plus our share of putting him under general anesthesia at Central Dupage Hosputal (manager threw in $2500 per family deductible). She couldn't answer me on why my 14 month old would need funny gas if he's already put under general anesthesia at a hospital! Neither gentle nor care practice. If you are considering taking your child here, please do your kid a favor: drive a few extra miles and see Dr. Campbell by Stratford Mall for a second opinion. read more

My daughter has been going to Gentle Care for Kids Teeth for 10 years and always loves going to the dentist. Even when she had a cavity filled, they made her very comfortable. The staff is friendly and I've never had an issue with billing. I highly recommend Dr. Blau and her staff. read more

I'm fairly happy with the care we've received here. We are new to the area, and my 7 yo has some pretty extensive dental issues. On our first visit they removed a spacer, and on our second they inserted a new spacer and extracted a tooth. On both visits, they made my son feel comfortable and took good care of his teeth. However, I would not recommend them for children with high anxiety about the dentist - when I brought my 5 yo along on the first visit, they did not seem comfortable managing the "fit" that he threw, and it was a struggle to complete his simple cleaning. We love Dr. Blau. My kids have been going here for almost 8 years. She is patient and amazing with the kids. They feel so comfortable with her. They do gas for cavities. I highly recommend it. My son was 4 when he had his first cavity. It made the whole experience way different. My daughter had a procedure when she was little as well and Dr. Blau was amazing with her. The office staff is incredible and I would recommend Gentle Care for Kids Teeth to anyone. Dr. Blau makes going to the dentist fun for the kids. They are older now but they don't mind going to the dentist. We have had several procedures done and we have never been disappointed. Give their office a try they will not disappoint! Zero stars. Just awful awful awful. My 22 month old was going for his 1st time. I had taken my daughter around the same age to a different pediatric dental, but this one is next to my daycare so I thought I would try it. First of all, they didn't have the paperwork they asked me to fill out online due to network issues so I had to redo it all. Okay, not a big deal. Then my son goes in and they want him immediately in the dentist chair. I sit with him and it goes okay. The hygienist is nice and is trying to be cheerful but she can't get his mouth open. The dentist comes in and shes awful. She says basically nothing and just asks me to physically restrain my son. She gets in his mouth okay, but is barking orders and his hygienist and is clearly not prepared. Why would you not get everything set up before having the kid lay down? Then she wants to clean his teeth with the electric toothbrush thing they use on an adult and my sons freaking out. She is telling the hygienist to hold him down. At this point I hit my breaking point and say to stop. The dentist was rude about it and says some kids have a hard time. I told her this is not at all how they treated my daughter at the other place. I paid and got out of there in tears. Needless to say they were not shocked when I called to cancel my daughters appointment scheduled for a few weeks after. read more

We have been going to Dr. Blau for 2 years and love her and her office! First, there is a play room with an arcade game for the kids to play while they wait! Second, I called the office a day before she was leaving out of town for 3 weeks. I asked if she could take a look at my sons tooth because I was concerned about a fall he had. She found time the day she was leaving, BEFORE her flight, to take an x-Ray! Third, they text me reminders and her office is understanding if I need to make changes in appointments! I can't say enough good things! I'm happy I found a great dentist for my kids! read more

I was referred by my primary dentist for my daughter's fillings. But after filling, my primary dentist told me she did not understand why they only filled part of the teeth. I paid my money for the filling to fix that teeth. I called back and was told it was very small cavity and they would wait to see if it grow. Now it grows, and I need to pay again for another appointment. It should be fixed at beginning and only pay one time. They do not take responsibility for their mistake. I go there to do the filling, not leave part of cavity there. Also, the office is not friendly. I do not recommend this office. read more

PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE FOR THEIR 1ST DENTAL EXPERIENCE!!! My son who is 4 years old had a lot of anxiety for his 1st time. I had no idea he was going to react like that. Rather than the doctor or the hygienist to ease his nerves the doctor questioned his development! Are you freaking serious?!?! How dare you! Just because he had anxiety for his for 1st dental appointment! My husband and I never felt this way before from a doctor. They have absolutely no children experience. I wish I can give them -10!!!! Plus she only offered anesthesia to fix my son's teeth because of his anxiety and they wouldn't give us any other option which my husband got super upset. Take your children elsewhere!! For a pediatric dentist and a mother, she absolutely has no patience for children. My child suffers anxiety when at the dentist. Even after medicating my child, she refused to work with him. During our visit she told me that my child was not normal. She told my child that he needed to stop acting tough and to stop showing off because she was the one in charge. He was crying and scared, she lacked empathy and you could see it written all over her face. Choose another dentist and practice for your child!!! read more

I am livid. We have been with this practice for two years and it has never been a stellar experience when it comes to the staff and Dr. Blaus patience with children, but my son is not a kid who has tantrums or anything that difficult to stomach. However, today my Mother brought my son in for a cleaning and it was a different story. Apparently he had 4 cavities (which we will be getting a second opinion about) and the dentist was telling my mother in front of my Son that he had "bad teeth" over and over again in a disparaging and exasperated tone. DO NOT TALK LIKE THIS IN FRONT OF A FOUR YEAR OLD!!! He is a kind kid who is diligent about brushing 2x a day and is a kid that very much enjoys following rules and being a good kid. He does not deserve to sit a hear sweeping value judgements that he is bad. Also in explaining what he needed done the dentist did not sound confident that the process was appropriate for a 4 year old and use a lot of alarmist language about what would happen if we didn't act quickly. This is not "gentle" "caring" or a good place for "kids". She also asked my MOTHER if she knew anything about the child's parents teeth and if they also have "bad teeth", because she didn't listen enough to realize it was my mother. Also we have been going here for two years so why didn't she ask me or my husband about our dental history any of the other times we brought in my son in for a cleaning. Every other time we were in they said his teeth look excellent, why suddenly does he have "bad teeth" whatever that means. We weren't ever that happy with this practice but this is completely over the line. We are out and I warn anyone else to please DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILDREN THROUGH THIS! read more

I could not be happier with my experience. The clinic was able to accommodate two emergency root canal procedures with no issues. Dr. Blau was very professional and thorough, taking the time to explain the procedures and making every effort to ensure that I was comfortable and at ease throughout. Go elsewhere, they are only interested in $ not your health. Charged $75 for a 5 minute consult which is not what they stated on the phone before coming in. Doctor did not sufficiently answer questions and recommended not going through with a procedure. The doctor is great however billing practices are not. Please make sure before accepting any "recommended" treatments for your child you are checking insurance coverage yourself. Dr Blau's staff misinformed me stating an x-ray was covered but later received a bill for $100. When I confronted the Dr about the issue they would not waive the cost. Had I known the x-ray was not "covered" I would have declined the service. Ask for costs and potential out of pockets, do not rely on their staff! read more

I took my three year old here. It was a week after her horrifying experience with another dentist. She was so terrified of the other dentist and they did not even try to make her feel comfortable they only made the appt. worse. This dentist and all the women that work there are amazing. They really know children and made her feel comfortable they even got her to sit on the chair without me and do X-rays without being able to see me which believe me is nothing short of a miracle. The women at the front desk even helped her feel comfortable before she went back by talking to her. I am switching my older son to this dentist also and i will recommend this place to anybody with children. I am so relieved to have found them. read more

I took both of my kids here, to make long story short they told me both of them needed some work done, I asked them specifically how much was it going to be, from the beginning I was told my insurance did not cover the laughing gas which I said ok. I paid what they told me I owed.. I left the place thinking i didn't owe anything.. Come to find out maybe a month later that they gave my son more time of that laughing gas then they said, mind you I had no idea of this, my kids are perfectly fine with going to dentist. Like I said I left thinking everything was paid. I get the bill they tell me I have to pay it bc my insurance did not cover the laughing gas.. well yes I told them you knew that why would they bill my insurance knowing they won't pay it.. One of the lady's had the nerve to tell me I told her to call the insurance and see if they can pay that, that's why she billed them, I told her that was not true and she was lying she not immediately said I had to take it with my insurance, I told her no. She said she was going to call me back and she never did instead I received another bill this time with a credit of $33.50. Why would I pay this? They thought they can be slick and bill my insurance but since they won't pay they are billing me? $104.10 is a bit high for laughing gas. I got a letter that they will remove the credit If I don't pay.. If they would of told me that same day I took them I would of paid everything but instead they bill me a month later. Took my 7 year old daughter to this office. Dental assistant had bad running nose and she is working on teeth cleaning. That's bad. Doctor is OK. Front office has no clue what they do. They are always interested in future appointments. When asked if our Dental insurance would cover the procedures recommended, they asked us to call our insurance and find out. Doctor tells you have 1 cavity during initial visit and asked us to come back. Front office calls us a week after and says you have 3 cavities and need to be filled immediately. Gentle care for kids teeth was a terrible place! I took my 3 year old there for his very first visit and he was very excited...the Dental hygentist used bubble gum flavor for the cleaning but my son did not like it and that is what started to set him off so she stopped using it but the flavor was still in his mouth so he was upset, so the dental hygienist didn't really help ease his fear instead she looked at me to do something and she threatened to put him in a secluded room and told him the dentist would have to go in there - as if the dentist was a bad person and when he was not cooperating she end up putting them in the other room and the dentist came in and right off the bat called him by the wrong name and they had to physically hold him down while he was screaming help me mommy" and continuing to use the bubble gum flavor just so they can clean his teeth! I walked out of there in tears and so upset that they traumatized child. This is a pediatric dental office they should know how to work with children and how to ease their fear instead the dentist was cold and seems like she's never worked with children before. I'm so disappointed in this practice! Never going there again and never recommending it to anyone! read more
