You might not think about hitting the casino for a tasty bite to eat but Genting Casino, in the…read moreheart of Chinatown, combines a night of gambling fun with a menu of authentic Chinese cuisine. The casino's restaurant is situated just at the side of the gaming area past the bar and offers a substantial choice including three courses for just £9.99 per person (available Thursday-Saturday from 6pm-1am). From Sunday to Wednesday (7pm-2am) you can choose from the impressive 97 dish menu with plates costing from £5.50 to £12. Hot Pot dishes (my favourite) are available along with seafood, duck & chicken dishes, soups, noodle & rice dishes and a choice of 24 'special' dishes meaning there is plenty of choice that is all prepared fresh. Once we had enjoyed our meal we popped to the gaming tables. Hardly high-rollers (although if you are they are happy to take your money) we had a flutter and quickly lost our cash on the roulette table. Big jackpots and 'Lucky' slot machines promise big payouts for fortune-blessed winners - we apparently were not blessed on that particular night. If you are new to the tables or games don't be shy just ask the croupier what to do - they'll point you in the right direction and appear happy to help out - and again help you spend your hard earned cash. If the tables aren't for you then live electronic roulette terminals at 10p minimum and with two systems to choose from, all linked to the 'live' tables, is a great introduction to the popular game and probably mean you won't get too carried away.

This is probably why I wasn't really interested in going to Boradway Casino, this and the fact that I've worked in a casino so I felt I knew what to expect. The casino itself is spacious but could do with a bit of brightening up. The gaming tables are huddled together in one area, a large elegant looking restaurant is situated next to the bar area and there are plenty of fruit machines and touchbets to play on. Towards the casino entrance there is a comfy seating area surrounded by TV screens showing music channels and Sky Sports. I popped in with some friends after work for a quick drink and a cheeky bet. We agreed we would try to double our money and if that didn't work we'd make a speedy exit avoiding the ATM. When we arrived it was quiet and the atmosphere was dull but as the afternoon became early evening the place came to life. The staff became chattier, the valet had been over several times to take drinks orders and more people had joined us on the tables. Unfortunately we didn't win but we had a good time playing. My luck hasn't changed so I'm not sure I'll be going back to gamble, but I may pop in for a bite to eat as the menu has a lot to offer and it wasn't too pricey.

I'll always have special memories associated with Eastnor Castle as my wife and I were married…read morethere. Located about two hours west of London and about an hour west of Oxford, Eastnor is a picturesque, Gothic Revival castle built in 1810. The Hervey-Bathurst family owns the castle today, and lives there, but it is open to the public during certain times and one can book the castle for weddings and receptions. For selecting this site for the once in a lifetime event, there were a number of factors which guided us: pictures of the castle found first in a Castles of England book and then online which were breathtaking, good Web site and email communications (a must if you are to plan a wedding from overseas!), the proximity to London and ease with which to get there by train, cost (the exchange rate was a little better than it is today!), and the ability for the wedding party to stay overnight in the castle. For all of the effort it took to plan a wedding overseas, it was well worth it. The staff at Eastnor was the epitome of excellent service, looking out for our every need. They connected us with many superb service providers such as musicians, hair stylists, bakers, florists, and so on. Staff kept us on track with our planned activities (dinner, carriage rides through the grounds, dancing, karaoke, cake cutting, and casino). Everything went smoothly. We thought we would be safe by booking a date in May, but the lovely English weather was terrible the day before and the day after the wedding - fortunately, the skies parted just for us on the wedding day itself and indoor contingency plans did not have to be used. The interior of the castle is gorgeous, and we had so much fun going fro room to room, marveling at the grandeur. The drawing room was designed by Pugin who also worked on the Houses of Parliament. In true castle fashion, there are some secret passageways connecting some of the rooms. Staying in these rooms overnight was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the whole experience. If anyone has any questions about having a wedding at Eastnor, feel free to contact me. The countryside of Malvern Hills around Eastnor Castle is lovely, and I hope we can get back there soon for a visit.

is eastnor castle worth the visit? heck yes!…read more there is a lot of rich history tied to this castle. many people book it for corporate events or weddings. if you book it for a wedding you're able actually stay in the castle. the castle is so big that there's areas where you can hire performers/entertainers to have stations where you can keep your guests entertained. you can put up a tent and eat outdoors. staff here are really nice. they provide castle tours and the part i love the most is they let you touch or sit on some of their old furniture. you don't see that in the states. i couldn't help but sit on as many chairs/furniture as i possibly could. one of the eastnor tour guides said "if you treat people like adults they will behave like adults". therefore you don't ruin things!!! ahh.. if only every historic landmark thought that way. eastnor castle is definitely 2 thumbs up! if you're visiting the UK and eastnor castle is open for a visit. i say make the drive out and see it for yourself. if you're looking into eastnor castle as a place to get married. then i say you got yourself a very magical venue! it looks amazing and i can only imagine how the pictures would turn out. fun fact: madonna actually paid to get the chandelier cleaned. tips: *free wifi doesn't really work. *not open everyday throughout the year. *they allow you to take pictures. *there's plenty of restrooms in the castle. *love the gong that they allow you to hit at the bottom of the stairs.

There has been a casino on this site for as long as I can remember. It wasn't always a Grosvenor…read moreCasino though, it was rebranded around a year ago when the whole building was given a facelift and a smoking balcony was added and some renovations were done to the exterior of the venue. I'm not generally the kind of person who goes to casino's often. I have been before as a bit of a work night out and with the lovely Emma S, but I tend to take around £15 and just play roulette for a couple of hours (rather than losing silly amounts of money on games that actually require some kind of skill). I attended a charity champagne tasting last night at this venue. The ticket was very reasonable and it was going to a good cause (Acorns), so I thought "why not"? First thing to note is that if you're attending an event and you're not a member, they will ask you to sign up (so best to take some ID). The event area is on the 3rd floor and doubles as a poker room. It's quite a dark venue, but there are some nice chandeliers and it's clean and has a definite "function room" vibe to it. After the tasting we were invited to hit the tables to have a bit of a flutter. I had been given a scratchcard when I signed up and ended up winning a £25 free bet (as well as a roulette card where you could win £10 if your number came up). I ended up splitting my £25 and put half on odds and half on black - I ended up walking away with £22 of real money (so can't be bad). The staff are very helpful and will happily explain the games if you haven't played before (so you won't feel like a wally if you don't know what to do). The Casino has a bar and a restaurant area. The food is actually supposed to be quite good, but I haven't had a chance to sample this as yet. The bar isn't cheap, but if you're up for a night of high rolling - you will get complimentary drinks bought to you whilst you play. I would probably go to this venue again for a night out with a few friends. It's not seedy (as I imagine some casino's would be) and as long as you set yourself a limit (even better, take some money out before you go and leave the card at home) you can have a nice evening out for not too much money. You've got to be in it, to win it!

The place itself looks the part with modern fixtures and fittings and is a well laid out space but that sadly is as far as my compliments are going to go this time around. I ordered my coffee forgetting I had no cash on me and was told it was a £5 minimum payment....ok sometimes this happens.....so I thought I may aswell have a second and asked if I could start a tab.....I was then told they dont do tabs either and the guy serving me could not even offer the information as to where the nearest cash point was (there is a bit of a lack of them in the JQ area). Eventually I was allowed to leave my card to have a second coffee but the whole experience was far from ideal... Upon going back to the counter the tab situation confused my waitress and took a while to sort out....finally ending on me asking for a receipt being an issue and the staff not being sure how to do it. On the bright side the coffee was ok and the food coming out of the kitchens did look like it was well presented. The table next to me had nothing but good things to say.....I have to base this review on the afternoon I had which was far from as perfect. Ill have to give this place anohter go in a few months....maybe there are still a lot of teething problems.
