At my last optical appointment for a contact lenses fitting on 12/13/2024, I was examined by Dr. Michael Bilalis. During said visit he was rude and unpleasant as he accused me of being disrespectful for responding to a text message at the very start of the examination. Post examination, he stated that the prescription changed a bit and this new prescription would reflect that. Dr. BIlalis entered the prescription to read -1.25 for the left eye on 12/13/2024 which was inaccurate. I received new eyeglasses with the current prescription in which I was unable see out of due to the error. As a customer for over 10 years, I had never had this experience. It was such terrible service from a provider with a bad disposition but moreover, leaving me with a prescription error, wasted time and money for eyeglasses that had to be returned. I would not advise any other customers that I know of to utilize this provider. They also refused service to me after initially advising if I chose to return, I could be seen by the other optometrists. read more

Worst ever. Bad customer service. They don't want to work and their attitude shows. Save yourself some time. Drive another 3 to 4 miles to another vision center that wants your business. This is what happens when you try to patronize local businesses in your area. Wanting to help stimulate the economy by bringing dollars to mom-and-pop companies in your area and this is a treatment that you get. After a bad experience I scheduled with another doctor. Went to drop my glasses off and had yet another bad experience. Don't even feel like detailing it. I went in to get an eye exam and new glasses. When I first walk in I see two receptionist who do not look professional at all. I decided to go along with it and not judge from appearances. The Dr seemed nice and my exam went well. When it wad time to choose my frames and fill out the paperwork, I was asked what I want as far as lenses. I was not shown what was available and what the different types of lenses were or if anything new has come along. Luckily I knew enough to say I didn't want my lenses to be too thick. Day of pick up, I gave receptionist my name and she handed the glasses to me. I asked her for a mirror and she says "just try on the glasses to see if they fit" I said ok. I put them in and I told her they fit good on. She then replied "that's it". I didn't get a chance to sit down and look at my glasses in the mirror at all. I felt rushed away. It was so unwelcoming. I wanted to give a small business a try but I guess I'm used to a more friendly and professional environment from staff. Needless to say, I will never be back. I gave two stars because you have to give one to start and the second because the Dr. was the only professional one. I believe this business needs to have a mandatory staff meeting on how to look and communicate in a professional manner. read more

I had my eyes checked yesterday by Dr Bilalis and it was a great experience. He found that my previous Dr had too strong of a prescription which was causing headaches and issues with my contacts and now am doing a whole lot better. This was the worse customer service experience that I've received in a very long time. The receptionist Michael was very rude and even implied that I had something sketches going on because I had a previous authorization code from Cosco's were I decided not to purchase my eyewear. I immediately got on the phone with my eye care network and the situation was resolved. Micheal however still offered very poor customer service and never apologize for his assumption, he was very rude and harshly direct. As the first person of contact, this behavior is very unwelcoming and I will never use @visoionsouce again. I am also asking you guys to stay clear of this establishment. I've been a patient here for a few years now and my experience has always been that the staff and doctors are consistently prompt, friendly, informative, and helpful. The offices are clean, cool, and comfortable. I've ordered my glasses from here, but if you don't find a pair you life, they'll give you a copy of your prescription, and even tighten and adjust glasses bought elsewhere. My appt was for 8am. They had the audacity to make me and 2 other ladies wait outside, while the staff mingled inside. I specifically requested first apt, so I could get in and out. Once I got in, they began running my ins. card, etc., making me wait beyond the 8am appt. I made it clear I would not tolerate their apparent arrogance that their time is worth more than their patients' time. I left and will NOT return to this dump. I made an appt with Tulane Medical Center Ophthalmology Clinic, which is way closer, I won't have to wait to be seated in a controlled climate, and I can start my paper work before the actual appt. GVS needs to get their act together. Personally, I'm done with non-professionalism of doctors who think we are lower than they. Smh. read more

A short wait, courteous staff and thorough examination were appreciated but the way Dr. Michael and Tammy handled our questions with patience and humor was an unexpected delight! They even have an online service now for booking appointments. Always a great and informative screening with lots of detail. Everyone in the office is really nice. Is the WORST . I started going there in 2017 & ever since I been having the WORST customer service ever at the front desk. I try to give them another chance & made a appointment, which was Thursday 01-16-2020. I called two days before to make my appointment. I talk to the guy on the phone. He told me he had all the timess available for Thursday so I told him ok put me down for the afternoon. Nice doctor's office and front desk clerks but the woman that helps you try on your glasses is very rude and nonchalant. My father went to pick up his glasses and she wasn't helpful. Every pair of glasses he tried on she said, "It don't look good!" No follow up statements to help him and she's supposed to be an expert. She never once got out of her seat and barely looked up from her cell phone while looking at Facebook. He was left to basically help himself. When he went to pick them up they were the wrong tint. They were practically clear! He had told her what he wanted and they were still wrong. He sent them back and he asked how long it would take and she said, "Seven days!" In the roughest tone you could imagine. Now my father has to drive around 7 more days without his glasses. read more

On Fridays they are open at 7am. Their early morning hours were a lifesaver. I had trouble finding a pair of glasses to fit my face after a customer service nightmare at another shop the day before my insurance expired. I drive by this place everyday and when I discovered they open early on Fridays, I was able to get my new glasses in the morning and still made it on time to work. Prompt, Professional, Friendly, and the Optometrist knew my Opthamologist, as well. They kept me in my price range since I wanted a free pair of stylish glasses to wear daily and minus my copay, thats exactly what I got. In and out in less than 15 minutes. I've been coming here for a while but over time the front office staff becomes worse each visit. They need training on billing practices. I've sat here and heard the front desk tell someone they could not verify insurance without an ID card. All is needed is name, social and dob to do that simple job of they have an operating billing software. They're lazy and rude. This is definitely my last visit. read more

I was on my way to work and got something in my eye I couldn't get out myself. I got directions to the nearest vision center and came here. They immediately took care of me. When the gentleman who works with the glasses couldn't wash it out the optometrist came out and helped me. They were really nice and helped me so I could get to work without being too late. I called Gentilly Vision Source OVER TWO MONTHS AGO and I was told they could not schedule me until July. I work in a school so it's huge for me to squeeze my appointments in during my summer break, which ends this week. This morning I showed up on time for my 9 am appointment only to be told that I would not be serviced at all. An employee notated they spoke with me to cancel my appointment, which is untrue. I was offered no apology for the inconvenience and was insulted by the employee insinuating that it doesn't seem possibly one would lie about speaking with me to cancel my appointment. Despite only coming in for an annual check up, I was told the doctor in office would not be able to see me, though the dishonesty that caused the cancelation was no fault of my own. I was allowed the option to reschedule, but I no longer trust the integrity of the staff nor do I have two additional months to wait. Even though there were a lot of people there for appointments, they were efficient and had me in and out quickly. The doctor was very thorough in his exam and explained why I needed glasses.
