Joan and Daniel came out to snake my sink and install a new pop up assembly for my drain. Joan walked me through the issues and gave me multiple options to resolve the problem at different price points. Daniel had the work done in about an hour and my drain is great now. And if something goes wrong, I'm covered by a 14 day warranty. I recommend Genteel plumbers if you have a larger issue that will require multiple hours to fix, or have a persistent issue and want to benefit from the 14 day warranty to ensure the issue is resolved, but unfortunately I believe their flat-rate structure is not well suited to quicker fixes like the one I needed and that as a result I massively overpaid today. That's on me, I suspected and chose to allow the work to just get it over with, but in the future I will instead reach out to someone advertising an hourly rate for these kinds of issues. read more

He changed out our upstairs and downstairs bathroom faucets. As well as changing out the shower head and drain system of the downstairs sink. Excellent work! Genteel Plumbers is committed to doing jobs right and to having satisfied customers. I called them to fix some plumbing issues with our clothes washer (both the hot and cold lines were coming from the hot water heater). They sorted out the problem but when they went to turn the main back on, it wouldn't come on. Turns out the main line under the driveway was deteriorating. So they pulled all their available crew to come to our house to do an emergency main line replacement, which involved digging a trench in the driveway. Mind you it's mid-day already and we are leaving for a vacation the next day. They worked as efficiently as they could to get everything finished and just before dark (probably 8pm since this was early July) they drove away. I was incredibly impressed with their workmanship and dedication to getting the job done on our deadline, and they were so kind and respectful. However, the speed with which they had to work meant that they couldn't put much time and attention to the driveway repair. So I mentioned a few months later that I wasn't happy with the driveway and they agreed that it wasn't their best work. I said it wasn't urgent so anytime they could come repair it would be great. Then early this week they called and said they would repair the driveway. Two days of work later it looks brand new. I will use Genteel Plumbers for all of my plumbing needs in the future. Joe came to replace the garbage disposal and found that the pipe was corroded at the wall and floor level. The pipe was over 50 yrs old. Joe had to brake thru the floor and replace the pipe that runs thru the crawl space under the house. Thank god Genteel Plumbing had extra plumbers to come help. This became a huge job. These guys helped me out big time!! After several main sewer line back -ups, Genteel Plumbers were able to feed a camera down the pipe to see why. An electrician hammered a grounding rod straight thru my main old clay pipe that connects to the street. They were able to dig it up, cut out the bad section and replace it very fast. I had a plumbing emergency (toilet fill valve busted, tank not filling) and Genteel was the only company willing to send someone out the same day. They charged a $200 emergency truck roll - actually reasonable in SF. The quote they provided on the spot was unfortunately much higher than I expected ($500 additional on top of the $200 to reinstall a toilet fill valve, total $700) so I somewhat tearfully declined the service. I took another three hours, watched hella YouTube videos, dug out some old specialty tools, pulled a couple muscles, and did it myself. In the process I learned that a skilled and informed plumber could have done the work in 30-45 minutes. Since I did everything out of order, and badly on the first try, it would up taking me five times as long. So why five stars? Because they refunded the emergency truck roll the very same day meaning they charged me nothing at all. I considered this a kind gesture. read more

Genteel plumbers consistently comes through for me, and Ive been so impressed with their customer service. 5 years ago they installed a new water heater when my old one leaked, and they did so immediately so I wouldnt be without hot water. Every year since they come by for free to flush the water tank to keep up the maintenance. Recently, the water heater gave me an error code which I was able to resolve with some tinkering. When I called them, they offered to replace the water heater for a brand new one, at no cost. Just to be safe. Wow! These guys are truly professionals. They were SO responsive and kept me in the loop on when they would arrive and what they were going to do before they did the work. David was the technician and he brought Yannik who was new. We needed to remount and reseal our guest toilet to the floor. They did the work quickly and it's good as new.
