Grafton Lodge - Room 1, queen bed, pet friendly, first floor

Normally I take a lot of pictures when I do a Yelp review. Unfortunately, this time, I did not. It…read moreis a good reason as well. I was too relaxed and focused on having a good time that the pictures faded away. Great conversation and great company. The owners are spectacular people. They made booking and checking in really easy. The rooms have everything that you can possibly think of. The add-ons were great. We ordered a bottle of wine and a caprece platter. It was perfect for sitting by the fire pit and listening to music. Breakfast.... oh my...... the owner can cook! Don't skip this perk if you can. The kitchen has coffee, tea, fresh baked cookies, popcorn, etc. that is accessible at all hours. Perfectly located between fine dining and outdoor activities. The beach is walkable in about 7-10 minutes. Walking back on a hot-humid day, uphill, you are going to sweat. Things that I would like to see in the future: - covers for patio furniture to keep it dry. All the cushions were wet when we went to sit by the fireplace. We made it work though. - room 2 - a better shower head to allow greater water flow. Water pressure is super-strong until you lift the switch to shift it to the shower head. Currently, it is okay and does the job. Would we stay here again? ABSOLUTELY Would we recommend to others? ABSOLUTELY

I honestly cannot say enough good things about the Grafton Lodge. Everything was perfect from…read morestart to finish. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and very comfortable. Breakfasts cooked by Rich were amazing. Our morning chats with Kim and Rich were very nice and we appreciated their tips on local attractions. Check in was simple and easy and Kim was very thorough, even asking if we had any preferences for breakfast. Kim and Rich, your hospitality is impeccable. We can't wait to come back for another relaxing stay. Brad and Renae

We enjoyed our visit to Lake Lore and this cute fabulous cabin on the river. The staff was…read moreextremely friendly, during COVID-19 they did take precautions and unfortunately did not have breakfast for you which is no problem because everything is within walking distance. We stayed in one of the cabins that overlooks the rapids, it was absolutely beautiful. The room that we stayed in had a completely remodeled bathroom which had a beautiful shower with river stones as the base for the shower. Everything was conveniently located to shopping restaurants and Chimney Rock State Park. We definitely will be back, the only thing that we did not like was the fact that it was extremely noisy having the parking lot directly in front of your room and a main road less than 30 feet away from your cabin. We took advantage of a boat tour on Lake lure, we had hoped to rent a boat on our own but please understand that you will need to book these boats two weeks in advance. However, there are so many wonderful things to see, unfortunately we did have some rain but that was OK. Again our stay was pleasant, we did not give five stars only because of the noise that we had from being so close to the road and the cabin facing the parking area for customers. We did have fresh coffee every morning which was really nice for coffee drinkers! Thank you so much for the hospitality and we hope to see you soon. The only thing that we wish was that it was "dog friendly"!! Highly recommended.

We stayed one night in a 2 bedroom room. Our room had a room with a queen bed and another room with…read more2 queen beds. One room had a balcony off of the room which was super nice. It was pretty awesome that we could hear the river running all night. The kids got some good pictures in the morning. The room was semi updated but we had everything that we needed. The rooms are on the small side but it's a trade off the the view. Cable TV in both rooms. Mini fridge and sink. Microwave. Breakfast was simple but ample. Waffle maker, oatmeal, danishes, cereal. They had coffee so I was good. All of my kids found something to eat. The only reason I am not rating 5 stars is because the bathtub did not drain well so we took showers standing in a pool of water and when we first checked in there was a big ole house roach in the bed. I'm not talking about the big black cockroaches that you might expect near the woods, I mean a house roach that rolls with 1000 other roaches. Definitely a turn off.

It is…read morelocated between Lake Lure and Chimney Rock townships with many restaurants and shops from which to choose. Check in was easy and the clerk was quite friendly. There is a small pool available to guests. The accomodations of the "Daisy Double" were beyond the typical room rental: patio with private entrance; full kitchen; bath with shower; large sleeping area with queen bed, and sitting area with pullout sleeper sofa and a small TV. The furnishings were older and not quite the country decor. We were gone most of the evening and, when we returned, we discovered the power was out. There was no back-up generator or emergency lighting, which made returning to our room from the parking lot treacherous. The power was out all over town due to rain storms (?) and, around 2:00 a.m., the fire department dispatched an engine truck to announce to evacuate. We did not know what was going on, and there was no one to consult. We decided that we were high enough and that we were okay for the time being. We rested uneasily and awoke to a wet carpet and still no electricity. This also meant that the water/plumbing no longer worked. The power returned around 9:00, which was plenty of time before check out at 11:00. As we checked out, we inquired of the morning clerk if there might be concessions made for the night we experienced. The owner, Bill Curtis, offered us a full refund and invited us back for a better experience. We were pleasantly surprised; and, we will give Chimney Rock Inn another stay! (We later found out that the evacuation was for the campgrounds along the river.)

The rooms are small but cozy. Almost every thing you need except a hair dryer. We needed the heat for the morning but it's not evenly distributed thru the house. Front room stayed cool while the bedrooms were stifling. Hard to find some light switches since they don't all work and some are behind the doors. Overall I'm thrilled the town is trying to get back on its feet and I'm happy to support all the businesses.
