Great strip mall. Though I only wish the place was more "Walker friendly" areas there's a little square that's nice to walk through along the perimeter. I know the idea was to replace Charlestowne, though you can't quite replace getting to walk a little. There's a lot of parking - perhaps even too much. Some good stores are starting to come in, though there's a lot of stores many wish would be replaced by something better. Highlights for me are: Pottery Barn, Lulu, Banana Republic, HomeGoods, Crate and Barrel, and Binny's. Overall a solid mall with a lot of potential. read more

This is a great shopping center with several good options for food, drink and gifts. My father was at Delnor for several weeks, and it was very convenient to have a place to stop, so close, so I didn't have to eat hospital food too often. The Jamba here was a fast stop for a cool and filling smoothie. Plenty of parking and the shopping center is clean and laid out well. read more

A nice little outdoor shopping center right off Randall Rd. Plenty of parking, good store selection, nice restaurants. Whether summer or winter, there is always something to do here... concerts, sleigh rides, etc. My only gripe is lack of cover from the elements. If its raining and you have to get to a store on the other side of the parking lot, you're gonna be soaked if you dont have an umbrella. I wished they would at least install awnings around the stores, giving you the opportunity to skate around the weather should it be inclement. read more

Even though this shopping Mecca looks like all the other ones that keep popping up all over the country...another copy of a copy, I have to say this is the one I've found the most impressive. Tons of stores and practical stores that people actually shop at and frequent versus some of these overly designed shopping plazas that have stores that I have a feeling will falter because they are over priced and overly pretentious. This one has a ton of great stores that I would actually shop at and may brave the cold for due to it having the outdoor access. Looks to have some decent restaurants along with the chain restaurants. A Woodfield for those who don't want to drive to Woodfield or Oak Brook. read more

Well I have lived in the suburbs for so many years I grew up in Chicago. I truly love Geneva specially when they have their fest. The fest are very family oriented and this a very safe place to walk around. Geneva has many of my favorite restaurant and shops. Today I enjoyed the Geneva vine fest and it was so much fun. Vendors with beautiful arts and crafts. Plus most of the stores were open. I loved the fact the fest had taste of food from local restaurants and the wine testing was very nice too. For the wine lovers they offered 3free tickets to taste the wines and cute bags to carry your purchases. Sunday was the blessing of your Pets so I got to see very magnificent dogs and also a nice yellow umbrella parrot too bad my pets are On the bad temper side so I could not bring my chihuahua nor my yellow crested amazon Perrot he hates me so pets stay at home I really love Geneva specially this summer since I got to walk a lot on the river walk with my big spender I had a nice summer so now am a happy camper. read more

In the tri-city area, the shopping options are severely limited - Charlestowne mall is nothing but Von Maur anymore, and even Stratford Square and Fox Valley Mall are in a steep decline. That said, GC has a lot to offer - a Gap that carries a nice selection, Forever 21, Abercrombie (vomit, but that's just my opinion), Barnes and Noble, H&M (my personal favorite), Express, Williams Sonoma, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Victoria's Secret, JoAnn fabrics, DSW, Dick's Sporting Goods, a few specialty shops (Rocky Mountain Chocolate, Wet Nose,), and some stores that you don't see many of around, like Black House White Market (err...White House Black Market?), Anthropologie, and Francesca's. It also has not only Ann Taylor, but also Ann Taylor Loft. And there's a Coach store. Food selections are also abundant and varied - Claddaugh Irish Pub, Corner Bakery, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Coldstone, a few different sandwich shops, Red Lobster, etc. Like another reviewer said, there is a severe lack of men's clothing selctions, apart from the Gap and A&F. Granted this isn't a big deal for me personally, but my brother gets a bit annoyed since H&M is his favorite store but the one close to home is pretty much useless for him. read more

We love the merchants at the Commons, however Mid-America Asset Management's Geneva Commons Gift Card program charges excessive fees - $2.50/month after 12 months - highway robbery. I went to use the card at the merchant of my choice and was unable to due so because that merchant had updated their sales system three weeks earlier and reported the outage to their corporate support instead of the Commons management (as a customer, I don't care about your excuses - I just want to use my gift card at a valid merchant location when I want to). Because the management office is closed on Mondays (I went at around 2:30 PM), no one was around to respond to my inquiry until the next day (when the next $2.50 fee was scheduled to be taken), I couldn't use the card when and where I wanted - but the fees keep coming. read more

This is an ok place to shop. It has decent options. Victoria's Secret, DSW, Express, the usual chain places. For those of you who have never been here, please be careful. The parking lots is located between many of the outdoor stores. So you have to walk through a parking lot to get from Crate and Barrel to the main strip of stores. Inconvenient? Yes. Annoying? Yes. Dangerous? Yes. I checked in and received a coupon offer through Yelp. It expired over two years ago. I contacted Geneva Commons about this and never received a response. So that was a double hit. Now just to put it in perspective. I visited in March of 2014 and the offer expired in January 2012. If this is your local mall, I get it. If it is not, I would skip it. read more

The Commons, as it's known to the locals, is pretty sweet. I wouldn't recommend going around the holidays because it'll make you (or worse, the person next to you) homicidal. I just mean that people in this area are serious about shopping and when you go to the commons around the holidays, you must be Mission: Impossible serious. It's hard to say what I like about a shopping mall... I guess I would recommend it for women mostly. There are only a few menswear shops. So unless the ladies are okay with dropping their men off at Buffalo Wild Wings while they go to Whit House/Black Market or Anne Taylor, I'd say just leave your hubby at home. I would recommend the new Sophora. It's addictively beautiful. Dick's sporting goods is also pretty popular, although it is the kind of big box store I try to steer clear of for fear of putting Vertical Drop etc... out of business. If you go early in the morning you'll have no problem getting a great parking spot. Overall, it has a great selection of shops and restaurants. read more

I was in the Geneva area and had some errands to run/time to kill, so I trekked on over to the Geneva Commons. Like Oakbrook Center, it's an outdoor mall, but with intersections to cross, as not everything is next to each other. I highly recommend having the map up on your phone if you have specific places to go to, since some of the stores are laid out in quadrants. They have a mix of chains and smaller stores here: Victoria's Secret, Wet Nose (dog boutique) H&M, etc. There's also a DSW next door to the Commons (I guess it's not officially part of the Commons but its right freakin' there). I was able to finish my shopping errands while I was here, so it was nice to know I didn't have to drive to multiple places later. Brownie points for a lot of the stores being dog-friendly. That's not something you see everyday, especially in a mall setting. Check out their directory on the mall website and see which stores allow dogs (they'll have a paw print next to it). Taking away points here for the potential walking hazards. If you need to get to a store across the way, you'll be walking through the parking lot, so beware of cars flying by. I came mid-day on a Friday, so it wasn't very busy, but I'd imagine you would need to keep your eyes peeled a bit more on the weekend or a holiday. It's definitely a nice group of stores to check out, but only really worth it if you're in the area. read more

If you've been around long enough you know the towns history with malls / shopping centers. 1st it was the original St. Charles mall, then Charleston....I remember when that place was built. I heart Geneva Commons! This is one of the area's nicest shopping meccas. Where else can you find a Crate & Barrel, a Pottery Barn, an Anthropologie, and a Coach store ALL in one spot? Okay, you can probably find that selection of stores elsewhere, but the Commons is just so nice. They have some specialty stores that you can't find anywhere else, like the dog boutique and Francesca's. Plus it's dog friendly! They also have a Potbelly sandwich shop and a few other nice little places to eat, as well as Jamba Juice and Coldstone Creamery. My pocketbook really gets a hardcore workout here. EXTREMELY DISHEARTENING IN THE MIDST OF FAMILY ORIENTED HOLIDAY SPIRIT AND CHEER :( The Geneva Commons is a great place to shop, savor your favorite delicacies or indulge in your heart warming passions, at any time of the year. Adding to all of this fun and flair are the extra activities planned by the Commons Management Committee members, such as "Santa at the Commons", horse carriage rides, movies and concerts in the Summer, etc. The horse carriage rides are a total failure and a complete embarrassment as I experienced this year. I can only hope they have been more successful in the past years ! This is a free-of-cost activity that's available to patrons visiting and shopping in the Geneva Commons area. The rides are mostly for kids and are available until 4:00 p.m. Each ride provides a 5-10 minute tour of a part of the shopping arena. My less than 5 years old child was extremely excited to see the carriage and wanted to go for a ride. The nice lady at the "Santa at the Commons"event informed us that it was completely free and that we should try to avail of the ride for our child, while we were shopping there ! It was 3:45 p.m. on a rather windy and cool Sunday. We stood with our child at the curb waiting for the carriage to arrive, but when it did, the woman driving the carriage coldly declared that they were done for the day ! Would not be accepting any more rides ! The cut off time is 4:00 p.m. - right ? I don't know if it was a "just-mailing-your-hours-in" type of attitude or some sort of discrimination, but it definitely soured our day, especially bringing a crestfallen look on my child's face. This type of behavior should not be tolerated by the Commons Management Committee. If you want the Commons complex to be family friendly and highly profitable, this sort of attitude does not support that goal ! The carriage rides are not available throughout the year, it is only a perk of the holiday shopping season. Do shoppers really want to visit an area where they do not feel welcome, even in the smallest way ? Would you rather them feel like they're there only to get their wallets emptied out by you and not even enjoy the smallest of small perks that bring smiles and joy to their little ones ? read more

Based on location alone and the fact that there is a Houlihan's and Jamba Juice within three minutes from my house, I'd give this place five stars. The parking lot is atrocious at times and there really are not a lot of men's stores so I have to consider that. They ARE however, building a Sephora so I may bump this up in the future. Basically, I wanted to assess this from a serious shopper's standpoint. I feel that while there are a few staples here (VS, Express, F21, H&M), there's really something lacking that hinders it from being up there w places like Oakbrook (oh, maybe it's a MAC store and better versions of all of the stores referenced above). Perhaps if some of the stores had survived (ie Aldo), I'd be able to fully appreciate GC. read more

Most of the stores are chain stores not many specialty stores. Lots of parking so generally not a problem except at Christmas which is to be expected. Parking for the restaurants gets a bit crazy at lunch and then early evening. The two star rating is because of all the vacancies lately that seem to be on the rise. There are a great variety of stores and food places I frequent often. As far as the general area that is the commons, it is nice and close to my house so I can shop when I need to. They said sorry, we charge $2.50 a month for each month you don't use it. Ridiculous! They certainly did not tell me this when I purchased it! I love the commons. There are enough different options that I can usually find what I am looking for. On weekdays it tends to be pretty dead, except around the holidays. A week before Xmas last year I couldn't even get in the entrance. But I guess that's status quo for that time of year.
