Any issue that I've run into (which has only been related to appliances, not people) have been addressed immediately even when it was a hassle (like the sink getting clogged on Thanksgiving). The entire complex is a community with friendly neighbors who respect one another. In all of the time that I've lived here, I have NEVER had an issue with any other tenant. Until Katrina rolled in... I'm married to the tenant that Katrina makes slanderous comments about throughout her post. You know, the one who made her life "a living hell since (from) day 1." What a joke. The neighbor who lived upstairs for 20 years worked late but any time he was being loud (he'd sometimes use drills and hammers in the middle of the night) we'd kindly ask him to keep it down and he would just like any considerate neighbor would. We're still unclear as to what Katrina and her crew did upstairs but I vaguely remember hearing that she called herself a photographer. After seeing the various "shoots" happen throughout the building (the most memorable, staring a shirtless man in leather pants and matching vest strewn across our stairs as this seasoned professional spat out clichés that equated to 'making love to the camera') I came to the conclusion that she was another inexperienced, delusional photogs who rips people off by taking their headshots. You know, those people who advertise their by leaving their poorly designed flyers in coffeeshops throughout LA, promising images that will catapult their victims/clients to stardom. But I digress and will now address Katrina directly. When it comes to this "tenant" that you speak of, you're referring to my husband. How dare you make disparaging comments about him when you have absolutely NO facts on which to base your claims. It was brought to our attention by your next door neighbor (who we've been close friends for 10 years now) that you were commenting on his behavior and saying he was crazy due to the "head injury that he sustained when he was in his motorcycle accident" Our friends, who you thought you were engaging in harmless, neighborly gossip with, played dumb in order to hear the lies that you spewed and were blown away that you could be so callous about an incident that almost took someone's life. Straight up, no-class. All the garbage about the on-site manager "having to step in" about the parking situation is hilarious. The manager laughed and rolled his eyes as he asked us to be aware when parking our tiny 1960's BMW 2002 and VW Rabbit because poor Katrina was having a hard time parking her massive Suburban and garish, yellow Hummer in her spots. You should have heard how hard we laughed along with the manager. The thought that someone could, with a straight face, complain about their oversized, space-wasters not being able to fit alongside two of the smallest cars made, is beyond hilarious. Believe me, no one was ever poking around the tires of your gaudy, ostentatious car (I know I'm beating a dead horse but if you're going to actually buy a Hummer, would you really choose Yellow?! And to be even more tasteless, you fill up the back window with those tacky stickers that represent each member of your family? Could you be a bigger joke?) The reason he was ever close to your car was to work on his. Trust me, no one had any interest in your cheap-ass rims or extensive collection of bumper stickers. In closing, let's talk about the real reason why you "left so quietly".Once again, I was woken up at 3am by your stomping around, I had enough and my "unstable" husband again asked that you keep it down. In response, I could hear you snicker and snort. The next day when we were trying to leave, our door wouldn't open. As hard as we pulled, it wouldn't budge. We went around through the other door to see what was up and there it was, as clear as day - someone had used an industrial strength epoxy to seal our door shut! We pushed as hard as we could and finally were able to get it open. As it opened, it ripped off pieces of wood & paint. Couldn't believe it. I mean, what sort of scumbags would glue a door shut? It didn't take a forensic scientist to figure out. That's when I felt things had reached a 10 on the creepy meter and I was either going to have to call the cops or speak to the landlord. Since I wasn't sure as to whether poor, innocent Katrina would be staying in the building, I didn't want to involve the police and called management. When I spoke to them they were dumbfounded and angry because it's both crazy and dangerous to glue someone's door shut! In the end, management took care of the issue swiftly and professionally, restoring peace to our building. And now I can happily report that there haven't been any problems since Katrina drove her Hummer off into the sunset.

I love my large open loft with spectacularly high ceilings, washer/dryer, dishwasher and mini split a/c heater. Also the wood burning fireplace is a surprising and wonderfully cozy amenity. The pool is very clean, never overcrowded and I find most residents to be respectful at least friendly and kind to each other. I have a hair salon/photo studio in the building and the grey water from my shampoo bowl is able to water the plants outside. The wonderful maintenance guys who work here full time helped me to install it. This has been my favorite experience of renting in LA. The lofts are pricey but for the value you receive worth it imho. I'm hoping to stay her me for a while

I miss living here, and if it weren't for personal reasons, I'd have stayed. I miss the 18ft…read morewindows that open up to 9th street and how you can peer into the lives of the Eastern Building dwellers. I miss the light that trickles in at dawn, and watching the sunset into pink and greys somewhere off the cityscape. I miss being able to walk down to see a show, grab ramen and a drink at a whim, or make a quick tequila trip to the cvs. I miss the Nest AC feature, the surround sound speakers, and the walk in closet. I miss the rooftop access I had overlooking the city, where I spent summer nights chatting with friends. I miss the little gym they have that helped me be the most active I'd been in my 20s. Living here felt like I had a home to come home to. While I did live in a studio it felt like I had space to delineate one area from another and that it wasn't too cramped. I felt like overall the price was fair given the fact you live in the "better" side of DTLA. I know that some people had issues with management but I found them incredibly helpful at all times, albeit I only called them twice since the place is overall well maintained to my liking (when my AC stopped working and when my fridge needed exchanging). Also if there's complaints about roaches from other people that stayed, it's fair to consider that it's part of living in a metropolitan area. I honestly only had this issue for a week then it was gone after spending an $8 product at Amazon that did wonders for me. Roaches is to be expected in a metropolis but it doesn't need to be in your home. Shout out to Shawn Smith who was so welcoming and making my first time living alone such a dream! I've been living here for over a year and pay $2,400 a month by myself for a one-bedroom apartment…read more At this price point, I should at least be able to feel comfortable having packages delivered to my own building. Unfortunately, package theft has become a constant problem. Packages are stolen on a weekly basis, and it's common to see multiple residents at the security desk dealing with the exact same issue. What makes it even more frustrating is that even when there is clear video footage of someone stealing a package, management and security seem to do very little about it. Residents are told things like, "Sorry, we don't recognize him," instead of making a serious effort to identify the person, determine whether they live in the building, or take meaningful action to prevent it from continuing. At this point, it feels like residents are being left to investigate these incidents ourselves, which is completely unacceptable and potentially puts our safety at risk. For the amount of rent we pay, there should be far better security, accountability, and follow-up when theft occurs.

I HAVE WAITED SO LONG TO WRITE THIS!…read more Do not let the aesthetics of Roosevelt Lofts fool you. While the front desk staff were always friendly, polite and helpful, management and maintenance were some of the most negligent and dismissive people I have ever dealt with. My husband is a 100% disabled veteran, and despite providing valid service animal and ESA documentation multiple times before and during move-in, management continued charging us pet rent our entire lease. Their third-party verification company kept denying documentation over arbitrary "yearly updates," even though there is no federal or state requirement for yearly re-certification of a service animal. Management did absolutely nothing to help resolve it. The maintenance issues were constant. Our gas stove malfunctioned for MONTHS and management's solution was literally to "flip the breaker" every time it started clicking. A corroded pipe under the kitchen sink leaked and destroyed our belongings with water and mold. Our washer repeatedly flooded the apartment, damaging the flooring, and when I raised concerns about mold growing under the boards, maintenance completely dismissed it instead of properly addressing the issue. The cheap contractors they hire also caused additional damage during repairs and I still got charged for it even though I submitted photos to izzabella right after they "fixed" it. The worst part was when I slipped and fell on a wet floor in the building because there was NO wet floor sign present. I ended up in the ER, and instead of taking accountability, management immediately became defensive and tried to deny responsibility. I attempted to resolve things reasonably by only asking for my ER bill and broken phone to be covered, but they refused to work with me. I had to get an attorney and the complex retaliated by sending me to collection 3 days after I moved out for $12,000... didn't even give me a chance to pay the move out bill directly or dispute it directly with them. When calling them out and say it was retaliation for the ongoing litigation Michael denied it. I've ask multiple times for maintenance records and service records of all the times I put in ticket for someone to come out and fix something and they failed to provide that to me and the collection company. This property looks nice on the surface, but behind that is poor management, ignored maintenance concerns, safety issues, and zero accountability. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere before signing a lease here.
