We found this great campground for a quick overnight on our way to Ohio. Very nice people and a cute little ice cream shop called S'mores.

Looks like someone was playing jarts and where ever it landed is where they placed the pit. A previous review said they had new cabins, I didn't see any as we drove around in the golf cart. Maybe they are remodeled on the inside but the outside hasn't been touched in what looks like 40 years. There are not many weekend camp spots, it is mostly all seasonal. I'm talking multiple sheds on sites along with decks and large canopy's. There are some amenities. Fitness center but you have to be 18 to use (very strict on the age). If you have young kids the playground is quite nice, I'd say even better than some KOA's we've been to. There is also a place to fish, a pool and a beach with swimming. The showers were disappointing, no chair or bench to sit on. Do you know what it's like hopping around on one foot on a slippery floor trying to put your underwear on, next to impossible. The water was nice and hot but you had to press the know every 3 seconds. Golf cart rental $68 per day Wood bundle $10 each Quiet hours start at 10p.

Events are always happening from crafts to bands. You will not be disappointed in staying either in a tent, trailer or renting a cabin!

Overall, we had a good time camping but the campground being on a hill puts a damper on things. You…read moreneed to be in good physical fitness, to walk down or up the hill. The walk down will do a number on your knees and the walk-up will leave you breathless. The owners are super nice. They escort you to your site. They have a very large camp store that was just getting stocked up for the season. They also put on events like free popcorn bar. They also had donuts and coffee for free one Saturday morning. The donuts were homemade Amish donuts, they were delicious! The pool is indoors so that was nice for Memorial Day weekend when the weather was cold and rainy. Not a lot of places for the kids to play sports or run around being on a hill. They did manage to play some wiffle ball in a small space with a bunch of campground kids. The campground has four docks across the street from the campground that can be used for fishing. Probably will not be back, the steep hill is the deciding factor. A golf cart is almost a necessity for this campground.

The campground has lake access and a few docks. Boat launch is a short distance down the road. There is an indoor pool, water is heated. There are two playgrounds, a few swings and a rec hall. There are events like root beer floats, pancake breakfasts, bingo, well stocked camp store, cabins for rent, overflow parking and a beautiful view. The cons - sites are small, old playground equipment, overgrown walking trail, no ball field or open space for play, not maintained seasonal sites, a few rude seasonal campers and the hill. Steep inclines make this a campground hard to climb and difficult if you don't have full mobility or wearing your trainers. Your vehicle, golf cart or e-bike/scooter is needed to move around the campground easily. Which also means no one is abiding by the speed limit. Small campsites with children running around and the majority of people needing a vehicle of some sort to get up and down the hill is not a great combo. Overall - it is a nice campground with everything that a camper would expect to have and is worth visiting. We probably will not return due to the hill, small sites and our camper grounding out exiting.

Now as an adult I can appreciate it even more! There are plenty of trails to explore by foot or bike. If that's not your speed, you can rent the paddle boats or a canoe to go around Rabbit Island, go fishing, or go for a dip in the lake. It's a nice quiet campground and coming from the city, you can really see the stars out there! If tent camping or RV camping isn't your thing, you can go glamping and rent one of their cabins. They're perfect to enjoy with some family or friends (I've done both on a few occasions). Bonus- you get your own shower, toilet and a fully functional kitchen! But you'll have to book them early as they can go fast! My family has long ties with the Bull family and they are truly amazing people! Definitely book a weekend (or a season) with Camp Arrowhead!
