We were supposed to be on a buddy site with family. The buddy site is set up as a group site not a buddy site. The fire pit placement is completed whacked. Looks like someone was playing jarts and where ever it landed is where they placed the pit. A previous review said they had new cabins, I didn't see any as we drove around in the golf cart. Maybe they are remodeled on the inside but the outside hasn't been touched in what looks like 40 years. There are not many weekend camp spots, it is mostly all seasonal. I'm talking multiple sheds on sites along with decks and large canopy's. There are some amenities. Fitness center but you have to be 18 to use (very strict on the age). If you have young kids the playground is quite nice, I'd say even better than some KOA's we've been to. There is also a place to fish, a pool and a beach with swimming. The showers were disappointing, no chair or bench to sit on. Do you know what it's like hopping around on one foot on a slippery floor trying to put your underwear on, next to impossible. We brought our own travel trailer and we were sooo thankful for that. The site itself was nice and quiet but sadly littered with cigarette butts and half eaten corn cobs in the wooded area just steps from our site. We came during the week so there weren't many people. There's a whole lot of seasonal sites and some were really poorly maintained. The outside of many rentable cabins were in serious need of a power wash. There really wasn't much for the kids to do and the grounds were not well kept. There's a "petting zoo" which consumed a few minutes of their time but was really not well maintained. Piles and piles of animal poop, hand sanitizer station that didn't work, overall look of disrepair. There was a decent sized pool (but the weather wasn't warm enough), a no cost run down but usable mini-golf area and a "beach" that was not maintained and therefore not of interest to my children. If there was a playground we didn't see it. There's a note that you can fish or kayak but the pond is so overgrown and murky so that wasn't going to happen. Incredibly disappointing. We've watched them double the number of sites over the years and try to manage with half the staff they used to have. Seasonal campers are required to put their site numbers on their trailers because the owner's family apparently doesn't know where all of the sites are. Seasonal campers need to have their golf carts "inspected by staff" and once again site numbers on the carts. Proof of insurance, dog licenses and rabies shot records are required too, unless you're only in for a few days, then none of these are required. Go crazy! Read the rules on the Sleepy Hollow website, then realize that they are routinely not enforced depending on who you are, whether or not you're a single female, know someone, don't know anybody, a member of management felt like it; or enforced for any of the same reasons. Management is a vindictive bunch of family members. Recommend you don't buy propane either. They will charge you for a complete fill up even if your tank is half full. I guess they don't know how to use a scale. The public bathrooms are a disaster. No hot water, no paper towels and the electric hand dryers don't work. Don't worry, though, there's been a sign up for years that they're "working on it. Don't take my word for it, read all of the other Yelp reviews and the ones on Google maps. We selected 2 cabins last year for this summer. First we got a call that the cost had increased, so I begrudgingly paid the additional cost for each cabin. I also paid to make sure we had 2 specific cabins, Log 8 & Log 9. The cabins were disgusting!! I don't go anywhere without cleaning supplies and I'm glad I brought them. Before we brought anything in, we cleaned every surface, it was as if it hadn't been cleaned after the last family had left. In Log 9, there was a pizza left in the oven and some flies too. Log 8 was worse! The cleaning clothes were black from every surface. There was no ladder for the bunk beds either. We went to the office and let t them know how bad the cabins were and were apologized to, but no offer to do anything or even a partial refund. Part of the cost is a $25 sanitizing fee for each cabin - we did the work. On a more positive note, our grandkids had fun. The pool was fairly clean. read more

My family and I experienced some concerns about our campsite rental. When we notified the park, they kept telling us that the owner would contact us. This never happened. So, I made more attempts to get our situation resolved and an employee who answered the phone said she wasn't allowed to talk to me. I asked why and who she was. She just said an employee. Through the process of elimination and with more phone calls, unfortunately, we believe it was Nina, the owner herself who was dodging us. She would not address the concerns. We did not get what we paid for and feel ripped off. It basically feels like a bank robbery. Would not recommend to anyone! read more

If I could give this campground a 0, I would. My sister had a reservation there and had to cancel because my Mother passed away. I get policy states "no refunds" but can be given at the discretion of the campground. When I called and asked them to do the right thing and issue a refund, the person who answered the phone actually hung up on me and was then to cowardly to answer the phone when I called back. I am beyond disgusted at the lack of caring and compassion of the ownership there. It is really sad that money trumps decent humanity. read more

This camp deserves a zero!! They issued the Bear Oaks cabin to me without cleaning after the prior guest. When I complained they handed ME paper towels and disinfectant wipes and expected me to clean it myself. They said that the cleaning person wasn't there. There was a person razor and pubic hair, urine spills on the toilet with hair, a dirty bed with dirt and debris. No WIFI rendered the two TVs useless. One of the owners, Nina, was extremely rude on the phone while pretending not to be herself. She said she was given instructions not to talk to me (from herself?) lol. They keep giving me the runaround that someone will get back to me. No one has ever reached out to discuss this and I left a day early with no person to help me. They charge you a cleaning fee. They should return that money to the prior renter because I was the one who cleaned it!!!!!! If the prior renter sees this with a checkout date of 7/6/24, you are owed your cleaning fee back because I was the one who cleaned it!! Another lady named Anne Marie claims to be an owner. She answered my complaint email stating that she's on vacation and will not be dealing with me and my foul mouth until her vacation is over. I never once said a bad word!!! They are simply trying to run away with my money without providing the advertised service. Looking at other reviews on various reviews sites, their actions seem to be a consistent Modus Operandi!!! this campground advertises they have so many amenities and not one was open. They don't enforce any rules and there are so many seasonal campers it looks like a trailer park. Not impressed. we complained about the cabin across from us being extremely loud until 3am- nothing was done. We asked the girl in the office to at least ask the cabin campers across the lake to stop swearing and turn their music down. Disregarded our request. I will absolutely NEVER go back. read more

As you enter the park a deep beautiful saltwater pool with amazing gym is just up on the right pass the store. Very quickly you park your car and walk into the store. The staff are quick and so nice . The store has so many amenities it's unbelievable ! They give you all the information and circle your campsite on a colored map that tells you exactly where to go!!! It's super clean ! Lots of open space at your rented spots . At your campsite you have electricity and water there's even a little restaurant. there's so many bands, activities and crafts to do on the weekends it's unbelievable . The seasonals are so sweet and so nice it's awesome! You can even hunt for ducks on the weekend and win prizes ! I give this place a five star rating you should totally check it out! read more

Have you ever heard of a "Thanks Dad" business where the spoiled, ungrateful kids ruin the business their parents worked so hard to create, this is one of those. They have had so many issues with utilities, finishing the bathrooms, getting enough employees, cleaning the pool, reopening the Rec Hall and their answer is to add more and more campsites every year. However their management is very poor. Electric is out all the time. We complained last year Bc our electricity was out but the meter was still running. I used to camp here a lot when I was a little girl and I have fond memories from those times. There is a lake to enjoy and even a petting zoo. So when looking for a place to stay this summer we thought this would be perfect as it wasn't too far from where we were working at the time so we spent well over a month here this summer. It was quite an experience and not a very good one! The first site we were placed in was basically under water and in a mud pit. They must have just done some electrical work because the ground was torn up. Made for very muddy dogs. Our first site also did not have a picnic table or fire ring, and we noticed that Several sites do not have a fire ring or picnic table, leaving campers to steal from other sites. Bathroom Facilities and shower are dark, dated and falling apart. This campground is mainly full timers and long term seasonal campers. Rowdy, loud and rude. Most short term campers left their sites with garbage strewn all over, and the staff never came to check leaving the new campers to clean it up. This place was a mess. Staff, other than boys who cut the grass, were not friendly and treated their customers as though they're an inconvenience. We were so glad to leave and most likely won't be going back. read more

Sadly, we planned 3 nights with another family over the 4th of July weekend. Our cabin was disgusting as it was full of mold and general filth and our friend's cabin had an extreme sewer odor. Our view was of a tarp covered trailer where mangy cats came and went and their garbage dumpsters piled 10 feet high with old appliances and other hazards. The only reason we stayed longer than we would have liked, was to not disappoint the 7 children in our group. By day 2, they had no problem leaving. It was very disturbing that the staff is oblivious to the many safety issues here and they had no problem with us leaving a day early with not even a partial refund. Completely disastrous. My friends had won a stay at this place and this was the only reason we were going, this was because they were free and we (my family) decided to tag along. Turns out they ended up having to pay for their sites anyways, they didn't seem to mind much, it was a total for around $35 a night; you get what you pay for. The woman told us that she didn't like our camp sites so she would move us to "better ones". We later found out that our original camps were taken already by seasonal RVs. The camp sites were rocky, barely grassy - small and cramped by neighbors. No room for vehicle or anything. The showers, as stated in previous reviews, were horrid, the whole bathrooms not to mention were a half-ass-not-completed-attempted-remodel job. The stalls were so short, I could basically see into the other ones next to me. The wooden doors were so warped that someone could walk in and see you through the crack. Continuing with the bathrooms. The 2 showers (only 1 was semi functional) were completely poor. Didn't take any consideration for where to put your things. We were yelled at by the staff boys to "hurry up" in the showers. WiFi didn't work. Bee hives everywhere. Dirty tables with mud everywhere weren't wiped off in years. Fish were no bigger than 4 inches. No smiles from staff. The map was created by a 5 year old and don't follow the camp site AT ALL. Soft ice cream was disgusting, not to mention the server had no idea how to make it. There is shit literally laying in every corner of every half-done building (they have been working on an in ground pool for 3 years). Customer service was very bitchy and "I don't want to be here attitude". The petting zoo was HARDLY 4 animals. They seemed to keep their RV camp sites much more beautiful (laced with flowers, signs and everything!) and well kept more than the tent camp sites. Mini golf has to be payed for. It was overall just boring. If it weren't for the people we came with, we would have left a day earlier. Ruined my only week end off. I would insist on not trying this place out for your self. One star for never going again. What a waste of time. Not even worth $4 a person just to get in. Oh yea, I forgot to mention, its $4 a person just to get in their shitty camp. read more

We got in on a Thursday, had a wooded spot in the back parked in out VERY NARROW spot right in front of our hookups and with the fire pit right at our front door on the side. We stayed for a week. We have a FOOT from the tree to the slide on either side of us. On Friday two tents show up a foot from our slide we go to the office and complain because not only that there are a bunch of noisy kids running around. Turns out between each RV site there are tent camping sites. The workamper in the office we RUDE about it. He said we were in THEIR spot?! We are in FRONT of our box..... with a TON of space between our box and theirs to the right. He (the work camper) said THEY don't mind that WE are in THEIR spot?! Then he comes to our RV at 9pm at night trying to show us what he is talking about then blames the tight spot on the fact older RVs didn't have slides. He tries to day we parked crocked (we didn't) Then says if we had an issue we should have said something when we pulled in. We didn't KNOW they allowed tents between RV spots. There is plenty of room between RV spots. Then the lady at the front gate got rude with my husband because I took down the hang tag on our car, while we are out of the campground, I don't need people knowing where we are staying. It's a safety hazard. Then since there are NO sewer hook-ups we paid the $11 to have our tanks emptied. The guy pumps the black tanks and then lets the grey tanks empty ON THE GROUND. GROSS! Regardless of state rules if I PAY you to dump both my tanks I don't expect one to go on the ground and now have to deal with the smell and mus in our campground. The bath house didn't have tile just the tile batting. STAY FAR AWAY!!! read more

This is a great campground! There are lots of sites, and where we were (back in the "wooded area" the sites are a bit larger. While they don't have sewer, they do have a "honey wagon" making the rounds so if you're here for an extended stay you don't need to unhook and drive to the dump station. We stayed here for a week and saw lots of different types of people, some retired like us, some families and group with lots of kids, some folks just travelling through, some here for the season. Everyone was friendly and happy. All the kids we saw were busy biking, swimming, boating, fishing, playing at the playground, visiting the petting zoo, or just running around! The campground is close to two small towns, and Buffalo and Batavia area within 20 minutes with Walmarts and other big-city amenities. Niagara Falls was less than 30 minutes away! Spent one of the only few weekends I get off a year in a cabin (extremely rough) power was off when we arrived there and kept going off for hours and turning on all weekend. Pool was shut down. Paid a $200 pet deposit and got yelled at for walking my dog at 10:30pm before bed, was told I HAD to go back to my site! Our family was treated absolutely horribly because of a simple parking spot! We will NEVER return and we told some camping friends not to got here either. The story: we had been parking "in front" of our camper for over a year when a new neighbor came in and decided to park in our spot. These new campers claimed it was their spot to park so I kindly told them where everyone in this particular area parks. They did not want to listen and so I kindly asked the camp to sort it out. A camp representative came and told us that we were correct and the other camper should move their car. This happened a couple times when finally I was fed up and had the owner of the camp tell the nasty neighbor and I where to park!! The owner was very friendly and once again sided with us, but to make everyone happy gave us 2 spots to park. "Fair enough", I said and parked my car in the designated area. The VERY next morning they came pounding on our door at break of dawn and told us to move our car again!!! (Are you kidding me!?!). I then spoke to the most senior owner to sort this out for the last time. My wife and I went to the camp store when the owner saw us and basically snuck out the side door when we arrived, saying "there they are.." nearly to our faces! We had to chase him out the side door and he was already in his golf cart going to our site to "figure this out". When he got there he was confronted by the nasty neighbors' daughter who nearly jumped on the cart with the owner so that she could get her way! The owner ended up not saying anything useful to anyone that day and we were being talked about by the whole area just because of a parking spot. read more

The showers don't have hot water, which NYS health code says must be provided. Beautiful landscaping, but ruined by trash and cigarette butts everywhere. The staff is rude confrontational. I've been camping here for years, but driving around the park I'm not surprised to see the amount of campers for sale and seasonals pulling out. I have been a seasonal camper for 15 years and have seen some great improvements over the years. My children have grown up here and love it just as much as I do. It has been a tough camping season this year with the COVID. No planned activities. We have used the pool more than in years past. It has been nice planning things with family and friends and keeping in small groups. I have found the staff to be pleasant. If you treat them with respect, you will receive the same. Let me start off by saying I'd love to give this place more stars, but there's a few items preventing me. If you read no further, it's a decent and pretty fun campsite. We found this place from an online discount website, so we thought we'd give it a try. I booked online using their website and they were very good about replying and answering my questions. When we arrived we checked in to the main office/store and the staff was very friendly. They also answer their phones if you're there and have to call with a question, which was helpful. Here's where we start losing a star or two. They had told me in my emails that our tent site would have water and electric hook up. They also said the sites were numbered/marked. Off we went to find our site. Well, the hand-drawn map they have does not match up to the actual locations at all. So, we looked for the marker to find our spot. Nope! No markers at all. We did find one electrical post with a few site numbers on it, but it was surrounded by rocky parking areas. No pitching a tent near the one electrical post I guess. So we called to see if we could just pitch in the open grassy area nearby (not near any electrical at all...or water of any kind). They said sure, so we picked the spot in the center of the two porta pottys. God forbid it gets fully booked and your tent has to be near one of those in the heat of the summer! That site turned out to be a great tent site. It was really private since we were the only tent in the whole park, and it was close to the lake and the bathrooms. Just as an FYI- this is a park where people bring their RVs for the whole season or year. They have permanent decks built, bring riding lawn mowers, etc. All of these people seem to love it. The kids were having a great time swimming and riding bikes and canoeing, all safely and independently. If you're a helicopter parent, prepare to be shocked at their independence. A major downside is the huge amount of smoking happening all around you. I'm frankly surprised they don't hand you a pack when you check in. You're outdoors, so it's not too awful with the second-hand smoke most of the time, but what's appalling is the number of people blowing smoke right into their kid's faces everywhere you look. EVERYWHERE. I guess that's just a culture I'm not used to and don't prefer to witness. We had a good time overall, but the horror of seeing that much smoking in front of kids was a little too much to overlook. P.S. - Apparently the beach says it's closed all the time because they don't have a lifeguard. You can swim anyway. There's no water slide anymore- we heard they took it down for some reason. Stinks i would have been better off parking in a buffalo city park, at lease i would have been able to defend myself. From the time i pulled into the park and paid my 5.00 to visit i was subject rude and mean people from the staff and season permit holders, (they think they own the place) camp sites were not clean dogs running around loose in our area, lake and pool was not even useable no life guard there as the kids were in the water that was accident waiting to happen. We were packed in like sardines at the camp site then you are not able to talk a little loud without people complaining, but it was ok that they did ( season holders) do as i say not as i do that is there matto i guess the rumor is true that the daughters are running the place in the ground never going there again it was the best five dollars i spent not to go back there, if you are thinking of spending some time there you might want to get a day pass and check to hole place out not just what people tell you about that place read more

We only spent one night here and if you want to be surrounded by old people, this is the place for you. The lake does not have the slides as shown in the picture and upon arrival I noticed some construction going on which made the place seem somewhat messy. They do not have full hook up sites( no sewer), so you have to drive to the dump station upon exiting. They also do not have any laundry facilities. It is not a campground where kids have a lot of activities to choose from. They do have a nice petting zoo though. If you are planning on staying here because Darian Lake is close and their campground is more expensive, I would strongly advise that you save some extra cash and go to Darian Lake for camping, it was superior to SleepyHollow. read more
