Marty came by, looked at the job and had decided the best course of action what to just do Time and Materials at his hourly rate. It saved him from underestimating/overestimating and I could manage the costs fairly. Items completed: 1. Deck Post light caps: Caseta switch installation. Also diagnosing some incorrect connections (I had made incorrect connections previously). Wiring an incomplete LV wiring run to complete a 'missing' section of lights. 2. Under deck puck lights: 15 Amp box and 2nd Caseta switch installation powering puck lights 3. Troubleshooting Magnitude MLV Transformer (found bad caseta switch and worked with Lutron support to diagnose and get replacement) 4. Installed heat tape on troublesome (ice/snow) roof section I got everything done for roughly $600.00. (I bought all the materials in advance ~$100 worth and did some "brain dead" stuff myself (like running 14/2 UF wire through existing conduit). In any event, I was thrilled with T&M as was he. Mike came for the first round to work with our contractor to discuss the needs of the new kitchen, including GFI updates, kitchen island outlets and pendants, new LED recessed overhead lights, and under cabinet lighting and floor heating. They also made recommendations based on new codes coming into play over the next couple of years so that we would be compliant. That kind of attention to detail was most welcome. John, the Master Electrician who came to the house later, easily guided two young apprentices over 2 days of full-on work. John was amazing, listening to my questions, assisting me in last minute decisions, and making certain the customer was happy. John was very insistent in making sure we were happy and pleased with their work. His knowledge and background was priceless while I worked through the list of my wants and needs, he was very patient too, as I asked endless questions. They put in long days and protected our home while working cleanly and efficiently. She politely explained that we could do that only after the company owner, Scott, reviewed the photos. I remember thinking "Hmmm, he doesn't trust me, and he doesn't trust her... seems odd." We just received our second delivery of heating oil from Palmer and was shocked at the price…read moredifference. I drive a diesel car so I'm aware of the price at the pump but there's always at least a 75 cents difference. This time Palmer's price was 3.949 before discount. The Sunoco here in Rochester pumps diesel for 3.899. That includes road taxes. So what goes on with the price now? The commodity prices are at 2.33 to 2.40 this week. Quite the mark up.

I hired Thibault's in December of '22 to do a basic addition to the back of our barn. They…read moreoriginally quoted $44,000. We signed a contract and he installed frost blankets and stated he would be getting right to this project over the winter months. I paid the 50% deposit up front and waited months with no commitment to any start date. April 1st 2023 is when the site work began. He asked for the next installment early so that "we could keep the project" rolling so I paid him another $19,600 before any work was done. The site work was finished in a couple days and over a month later we still had not concrete pad and a list of reasons why Thibault's could not do it. I ended up contacting someone I knew and had them come to do the concrete work. That was done on May 11th. I had told Thibault's and they agreed and said they would pay them. They did not and I was stuck with the bill. It was not until the end of may that they started the 2x4 framing and finished the basic framing and roof rafters by July 4th 2023. Thibault's then asked me for more money to which I said no. They then did the roof sheathing and started some ship lap siding. I asked many times when they could get the roofing on because all the rain had been leaking into the barn and onto the structure creating water and mold issues. They never gave me any answer or commitment to the roof so I had another friend bail me out and get the roof done and asked Thibault's to may them directly and they did not. I was stuck with yet another bill. Now it has been since July 12th and no one has showed up to finish the siding or anything else. I have asked via email 20-30 times over the last 6-7 months for any type of rough timeline or work schedule or estimates for certain aspects of the project like siding, windows, doors, garage doors, electrical, roofing, etc. and have never received any type of definitive answer. All I get is reasons why things can't be done or why workers cant show up or why Thibault's cant answer my questions and concerns. I have voiced my frustrations and concerns over and over again and get no acknowledgment or reaffirming on the job progressing and being completed in a reasonable amount of time. Now it has been 30 days since they have completed any work and I still have no answers on anything. I have spent roughly $50,000 on a basic lean-to garage and am not even close to being finished and no end in sight. I have asked to be refunded and for Thibault's to terminate the contract or finish the work with some type of expectation of a timeline and have received nothing what so ever from them. Their disregard for customers and their lack of communication and assurances is astonishing in my opinion. I have attempted to call and text with no answers and have asked for two months for a phone call and have not received one single phone call to discuss the project any issues or delays we may be facing. I don't know what to do at this point. I am out so much money and probably cannot afford to finish the project anytime soon. I have recently done some homework and found lawsuits and cases filed in local courts as well as NH Attorney General complaints and various complaints on social media and the BBB. Who knows how my story will end but I just hope that we can prevent this from happening from others moving forward. Please do your due diligence and homework before hiring and paying someone any amount of money for a project.
